#20. "Seven Devils"
“Seven Devils” is an album track off Ceremonials that uses medieval demons as a metaphor for Florence’s rage against a wrongdoer. In a Track-By-Track interview given after the release of Ceremonials, Florence indicates that “Seven Devils” was originally inspired by narrative from a Chester Himes book, titled If He Hollers Let Him Go where the protagonist awakens one morning and states: “I woke up with seven devils inside me…” "Seven Devils" appeared in the trailer to promote season two of Game of Thrones, as well as in the season one finale of ABC series Revenge. It was also used in the trailer for the 2013 film Beautiful Creatures. Though “Seven Devils” missed the US Hot Rock Songs chart, it peaked at #28 on the US Rock Digital Songs chart. Five people ranked this in their top 5 and it was consistently bouncing around within the top 20. It was no easy feat to get in the top 20. "Seven Devils" is a whole 41 points ahead of "Lover to Lover". Congrats to Glove Slap who clears out his bottom 5 here. Total Points: 521 Standard Deviation: 10.69Average Ranking: 23.59 Rankings:

#19. "Mother"
“Mother” is the closing track off the standard edition of How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful. The song is described as a “Psychedelic blues explosion” and has been compared to Jefferson Airplanes in terms of sound. A very bluesy, 70’s soft rock kind of track, that reaches an explosive ending comprised of a whirlwind of synthesizers, drums, and wailing guitars. “Mother” is featured as Chapter 7 of The Odyssey as a “connecting scene” between “Long & Lost” and “Delilah”. It features Florence singing the intro, chorus and two verses of “Mother” acapella. The connecting scene of The Odyssey is featured above with the full audio just below it. “Mother” received three top 10 rankings and was consistently a staple within the top 20. It dropped from to #19 thanks to Juanca , who now clears his bottom 5. Total Points: 524 Standard Deviation: 10.52Average Ranking: 21.18 Rankings:

#18. "Delilah"
"Delilah" was released on November 20, 2015 as the fourth single off How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful. Though the track actually premiered as a Hottest Record on Annie Mac's BBC Radio 1 show on May 19, 2015, and its accompanying music video premiered on October 21, 2015. It impacted US alternative radio on January 19, 2016 and peaked at #30 on US Alternative Songs chart, #15 on US Hot Rock Songs and #102 on UK Singles chart. It also charted in Australia, Belgium, France and Scotland. “Delilah” uses the biblical tale of Samson and Delilah as a metaphor for betrayal. The song is about Florence’s time in Miami after a rough night drinking and taking pills, and anticipating a phone call from her boyfriend the following morning. The song, along with its demo version, was released as a limited-edition 12-inch vinyl for Record Store Day 2016, and included a cover of Neil Young's "Only Love Can Break Your Heart" as its B-side. Fitting that “Delilah” should follow “Mother” as it does so in the chronological order of The Odyssey. Congrats to Tim for clearing his bottom 5 with this one. This song had one other bottom 5 ranking along with three top 10 rankings and the song itself ranked in the top 10 at one point early on. #17. "Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up)"
"Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up)" was released as the third single off Lungs June 21, 2009. The song contains elements of "House Jam" by Gang Gang Dance. Although open to interpretation it is a description of what Florence felt whilst on the precipice of fame. Florence said: “I think it was just all about me about to jump into the limelight and being in the music industry stuff like that". After being asked to record an upbeat song as a single for the label she ended up with a chorus about ritual sacrifice. “Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up)” features Florence’s vocal overdubbed with so many harmonies she sounds like a massed choir of one. The song peaked at number 12 on the UK Singles Chart and also charted in Scotland, Ireland, Belgium and Australia. This was another contender for #1 for me. I’ve always loved the layering of Florence’s vocals. Overall though, it was actually the song with the fourth highest standard deviation in the game. Eight people ranked this in their top 10 but my condolonces go to recordyear who loses his #1. Total Points: 556 Standard Deviation: 12.20Average Ranking: 18.91 Rankings:

Closing out today's reveals, #16 takes us either to the sole soundtrack song remaining or to the last song from High as Hope.
With the seventh lowest SD of the game and zero bottom 5 rankings this one was quite well-received. Songs per Album: Lungs: 4/16 Ceremonials: 6/10 How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful: 4/9 High As Hope: 1/2 Stand Alone/Soundtrack Singles: 1/8

#16. "Hunger"
"Hunger" is the second single from the fourth studio album High as Hope and was released on May 3, 2018. “Hunger” sees Florence exploring her vulnerability and search for love whilst comparing her teenage experience to the young people of today.
From Florence’s Instagram:
"Hunger" impacted US hot adult contemporary radios on June 18, 2018. The song became the band's fifth number one single on the Billboard Adult Alternative Songs chart in June 2018. It has also peaked at #9 on the US Hot Rock Songs chart, #12 on US Alternative Songs chart and #41 on the UK Singles chart and has charted in New Zealand, Scotland, Ireland, France, Belgium, and Australia.
If I had done my rankings two weeks later I would have ranked this song a lot higher as it has grown on me immensely. Two people lose top 5 rankings with this one. It received no bottom 5 rankings though and continually climbed its way to the top 20 throughout the ranking process.

'Lover to Lover' & 'Rabbit Heart' are a little too low for me. My Top F+TM song still haven't been revealed 😁
Calling it now: the Top F+TM song is either 'Cosmic Love', 'Never Let Me Go' or 'Only If For A Night'. I'm already pissed 'Spectrum Remix' is too damn high 🙄🙄🙄

I hope my #1 is #1.
Also, Seven Devils is so hypnotic. I kind of didn't expect it to make it too high among Ceremonials' tracks but as long as it knows someone loves it. <3

#15. "How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful"
“How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful” is an album track, and the title track, featured in The Odyssey as part 2, which was released on February 10, 2015, featuring a snippet of the title track. The snippet consists mainly of the instrumental on the back end of the song and was released as an album teaser two days before the release of the album’s first single. The video shows Florence dancing with her look-alike. In an interview with Triple j, Florence revealed that the song’s title was inspired by the sky in Los Angeles. “Drumming Song" was released on September 13, 2009 in the UK as the fourth single from Lungs. The song was the band's second consecutive single to be A-listed on BBC Radio 1. It was the band's fourth single to enter the top 75 on the UK Singles Chart, peaking at #54 during its week of physical release. Though not as commercially successful as their other singles, "Drumming Song" is a favorite amongst fans at Florence and the Machine live performances. “Drumming Song” also charted on the Scottish Singles chart, peaking at #14. #13. "Heavy in Your Arms"
"Heavy in Your Arms" is a gothic love song written for 2010 film The Twilight Saga: Eclipse soundtrack. The song was released as a single on November 15, 2010. The song was later featured on the Lungs re-release, Between Two Lungs and online exclusive EP, Lungs—The B-sides. Compared to the existing material at the time off Lungs, “Heavy In Your Arms” was very different—embracing darker lyrics with soulful vocals and orchestral instrumentation. However, it fits well with Ceremonials, which was entering production just a month after the release of “Heavy In Your Arms”. The song peaked at #53 on the UK Singles chart and #59 in Scotland.
Fun fact: In 2012, Kelly Clarkson added the song to the set list of her Stronger Tour.
“Heavy in Your Arms” started off a bit rocky as it was in the bottom 5 for a while but it got a lot of love later on, managing seven top 10 rankings in the end. It is the last, and therefore highest ranking, of the Soundtrack songs.

I like Heavy in Your Arms, I just find it a tiny bit too boring to have ranked it any higher.
