So, that "Girls" collab between Rita Ora, Cardi B, Bebe Rexha and Charli XCX, t that's sure to make the top 10 right? No.

Just heard "Girls" for the first time. And let's just say it isn't as fire as I expected it to be, certainly no Bang Bang. And with digital sales changed so much since Bang Bang was released in 2014 and debuted in the top 5, not top 2. I highly doubt with low DS and likely poor streaming numbers even with Cardi and Bebe (in the U.S.). I can expect a top 20 or 30 debut if they are lucky. It reminds me a bit of the annoying "Pretty Girls" back in 2015.

Also, I expect "Girls" to gradually work its way up Billboard with airplay similar to The Middle, so even with Drake and Kanye dominating the charts in June/July/August. Expect Bebe, Charli, Cardi and Rita to sneak a few weeks in the Top 10 and 15, as it will probably be a summer song, especially overseas into the U.K. where Charli XCX and Rita Ora are big names. While Drake will likely have 5 out of the top 10 songs in the summer to himself😂? Also Congrats to Donald Glover on likely his first #1 single on the Billboard Hot 100, with a lot of mixed opinions from his MV involving gun control and hate against African Americans, he's even stacked up 70 million views on YouTube! That's sensational expect him to linger with this single, TIA, in the top 10 through at least late June or early July.

Put me in the camp of people who think Formation would have debuted/at least reached #1 had it been given a wide/more open release.

I think even if Beyonce wanted to release outside of Tidal, she might have been contractually prevented from doing so. In addition, she probably had enormous interest in keeping it exclusive there, after all her husband does own the business, and she probably has a large stake in it as well.
Switching gears a bit, I'm really happy that No Tears Left to Cry debuted all the way up to #3 and was able to stay in the top 10 this week, I was even rooting for it to be #1, but that seems unlikely at this point. I'm not sure about sales and streaming, but it's airplay seems to be growing steadily, so hopefully it will end up being a sizable hit anyway. And I'm not even a big fan of hers, which I've mentioned several times before, but I'm one of those people where I look at each song on a case by case basis, and even if I'm not the biggest fan of an artist overall, there's still songs by them I can get really into.

I doubt it, other then Cardi the other 3 have only had a couple of minor top ten hits. (excluding Meant to be), and Charli hasn't really been a present in the US since 2014 unfortunately.

Cardi is the biggest no doubt, but Rita is a close second. Bebe and Charli are on the same level aside from the fact that Charli had her lucky year a few years ago.

Well, the order of each artist will be different in every country I think. In the US probably Cardi B > Charli XCX > Bebe Rexha > Rita Ora (Rita Ora may not really be last because she's a generic celebrity as well as a pop star) In the UK probably Rita Ora > Charli XCX > Bebe Rexha = Cardi B And in Canada it's probably a different order, and so on. When Bang Bang came out a lot of people were complaining that Jessie J was less famous than the other two, but in some countries she'd had the most chart success by far at the time.

Well if the popularity that Beyonce had during the week that Lemonade dropped isn't even real, then it makes it even harder to believe that she would be able to reach/debut #1.

That was her fault for not putting the album out to Spotify and Apple Music. Also iHeartRadio and Clear Channel never gave hourly promotion on the release of Formation and hardly any airplay time either.

Because Tidal manipulated their numbers, that means we know 100% that Formation would have actually had negative points during its first 2 months of release! Thanks for putting me in my place!

I'm not even sure how this is even a discussion lol. Fact, Formation woudlbe debuted at number 8 two whole months AFTER the peak hype for the song on iTunes and some YouTube. Fact, the super bowl is viewed by 100 million people every year and the big numbers have routinely gotten insane boosts on the week(s) after. The song was everywhere, even more so than TIA. With her rabid fans and the general public interested, if it had a conventional release, as in radio deal, Spotify and YouTube Video, I'm 100% a top 3 debut would've happened and 95% sure number one was looked.
This is almost as stupid as saying "We don't know for sure Gangnam Style would've been number 1 with streaming because its all hypothetical".

Put me in the camp of people who think Formation would have debuted/at least reached #1 had it been given a wide/more open release. In theory it could have had enough streams and sales as it was, no? What was #1 when "Formation" would have initially charted? I think it surely would have been top 3 and threatened for #1 with a normal release.

if this had been last week would it has been able to hit #1? "Psycho" was behind "NFW" in every metric, so a bit higher airplay wouldn't have made the difference.

I'm not sure what that has to do with the original topic. Well if the popularity that Beyonce had during the week that Lemonade dropped isn't even real, then it makes it even harder to believe that she would be able to reach/debut #1. But we know exactly how her sales were at the time of it hitting iTunes two months after release. They were fantastic all things considered. We also know how many streams the video received despite not being publicly listed anywhere on YouTube. The fact that Tidal manipulated streams is tangentially related at best since that wasn't even discovered until this week, so that wouldn't have any affect on the song's hypothetical debut two years ago. Billboard doesn't retroactively edit their charts like that. What we know is how strong sales were two months after release. We know how strong video streams were despite not being public. We know she performed it at the Super Bowl. We know how much the song was being talked about by everyone in February. I have zero doubt in my mind "Formation" would have been a number one hit if it were made publicly available everywhere from the moment of release and not two months after the fact. It still manages a top ten peak two months later despite all of these things going against it. Yes, it got a spike from the album release, but in order to get a spike strong enough to help you that much, you would have needed to be really successful prior anyway. Not to mention it was even the best performing track on the week of the album's release over "Sorry," the intended second single.

^Sorry was my favorite song of the Album,i was listening to it for months, but hold up and formation were my 2nd choice . The : „you better call becky with the good hair“ always got me And i remember that in the 2nd week of lemonade only Sorry didn’t moved from #11,but every other song dropped

www.billboard.com/articles/columns/chart-beat/8455580/childish-gambino-this-is-america-headed-for-no-1-hot-100-debutChildish Gambino's 'This Is America' Challenging For No. 1 Hot 100 Debut Next Week5/11/2018 by Gary Trust The song, fueled by its socially-conscious video, could dethrone Drake's "Nice for What."Driven in large part by its buzzy, socially-conscious video, Childish Gambino's new single "This Is America" should challenge for a No. 1 on debut on next week's Billboard Hot 100 chart (dated May 19); the Hot 100 blends weekly streaming, airplay and sales data, according to Nielsen Music. According to building Nielsen Music data, the song, released, along with its official video, just after Donald Glover's musical alter ego took the stage as the musical guest on NBC's Saturday Night Live May 5 (as Glover hosted), should draw over 50 million U.S. streams in the tracking week, along with over 8 million in radio airplay audience and 60,000 downloads sold. "America" could unseat Drake's "Nice for What," which has spent its first four weeks on the Hot 100 at No. 1. (Drake has logged the last 15 weeks at the summit overall, thanks to 11 prior frames on top with "God's Plan," which likewise debuted at No. 1.) "Nice" could sport over 45 million U.S. streams by the conclusion of the current tracking week, as well as over 70 million in airplay audience and 20,000 sold. When all numbers are tabulated, the lead in streaming and sales for "America" over "Nice" could be enough to offset the latter's lead in airplay for Hot 100 supremacy. Childish Gambino, whose "America" marks his first release on RCA Records, is aiming for his first Hot 100 No. 1, or even top 10. He hit a No. 12 Hot 100 high last August with his fourth and most recent entry on the chart, "Redbone." His three prior charted titles, in 2013-16, peaked between Nos. 64 and 86. If "America" launches at No. 1, it would arrive as the 31st No. 1 debut in the Hot 100's 59-year history. "America" and Drake's "Nice" and "Plan" would also make for the first trio of back-to-back-to-back No. 1-debuting hits since 1995-96, when Mariah Carey's "Fantasy," Whitney Houston's "Exhale (Shoop Shoop)" and Carey and Boyz II Men's "One Sweet Day" all opened atop the chart in succession. Highlights of next week's Hot 100 will post on Billboard.com Monday (May 14), with all charts posting the following day (May 15).
