Some of the best girl groups of all time are The Supremes, TLC, and Destiny's Child. Who is your favorite girl group of all time?

For my personal taste itβs TLC, En Vogue and DC.
But while some girl groups have had bigger album success and what not, nobody beats The Supremes.

I love her 4 album and like a lot of her hit R&B/Pop singles; I even like a couple of DC hits. But I do think that BeyoncΓ© is overrated, overhyped and effectively the quality of DCβs music in the spectrum female R&B groups gets overstated as well.

They had their first top 40 hit in late 1963. Starting with "Where Did Our Love Go" in 1964, they then amassed 12 #1 hits. That's by far the most for any female group. I think their last top 10 hit was in 1970, and their last top 40 hit was in 1976. That's actually one of the longer spans for a female group (En Vogue and TLC both had a span of about 7 years in terms of top 10 hits). TLC is probably my personal favorite. It's between them and the Dixie Chicks for me in terms of who released the best albums; both groups have a few genuinely great albums.

Yeah no girl group has really matched The Supremes in the overall combination success, impact, and durability. Which isn't to say that others haven't excelled in those fields.

For me itβs the Dixie Chicks. I saw them live for the first time in 2016 and was absolutely blown away at the musicianship and raw talent those three ladies have. Iβve loved their songs since I was a little kid, and applaud them for continuing to tour and make music after all the hillbillies and toothless hicks in America blacklisted them.

The Dixie Chicks of course had their career cut short because of a political controversy, but it should be mentioned they still managed to have 6 #1s from 13 top 10s at country off 3 albums. Two of those albums are certified Diamond in the U.S., and the third is 6x Platinum. They were easily the biggest and most consistent selling female group ever pre-controversy.

Legit one of the best concerts I've ever been to. Despite not releasing an album in a decade, their chops and energy are still ace.

Whatβs sad in thinking about the topic question is how no female groups last too long. Which female groups stayed together over a decade? Has any female group had a relevant run for more than a decade?
The Bangles are another female group that needs to be mentioned. This is one of my all-time favorite girl group songs:

Most successful? Supremes no question.
Impact? Spice Girls. I've never seen girl group dominate every piece of media like they did in the late 90s.

I'd say we should differentiate best and favourite. Because there's plenty of acts I like but I wouldn't say are anywhere near the best. But here are some favourites.
TLC - They don't need much an introduction, but their R&B/hip-hop was something I grew up on. And "No Scrubs" is one of my favourite tracks of the 90s.
Spice Girls - I just like them. They were a fun group, and "Wannabe" I still love to this day.
RHYMEBERRY - Japanese hip-hop idol group. I love their energy, and they have pretty solid flows. I like the mix of J-pop, dance, and often more "hard" hip-hop elements. And for an idol group, they surprisingly do a lot of work in writing and production. Pretty young too, the group's members are typically in their teens or early 20s.
Others: Girls' Generation, 2NE1, TWICE, The Andrews Sisters, AKB48, Morning Mesume, Speed, Bananarama.

In the U.S. the Spice Girls were only popular for one album. The same is true of En Vogue, to a degree.

two actually, the third Spice Girls album in 2000, they were pretty much gone by then In the U.S. the second album only produced 1 top 10 on the Hot 100, and none of the singles even made the top 20 of Pop radio.

Now we get into what does "popular" mean and how each of us defines it.
Based on your definition of "popular" you are probably correct.
