Drake Passes Elvis Presley, Now Trails Only Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder & Elton John For Most Hot 100 Top 10s Among Solo Males
News
By Gary Trust | May 30, 2018 10:08 AM EDT
Drake notches his 26th top 10 as 'Yes Indeed' with Lil Baby leaps 49-6.
As Lil Baby and Drake's "Yes Indeed" vaults from No. 49 to No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 (dated June 2), Drake passes Elvis Presley in the race for the most top 10s among solo males in the chart's history.
While the track marks Lil Baby's first Hot 100 top 10, it's Drake's 26th, pushing the 6 God past the King of Rock and Roll for a solo share of the fourth-most top 10s among male soloists. (Presley's run of hits predated the Hot 100's origin by two years.)
Here's an updated count of the solo males with the most Hot 100 top 10s, dating to the chart's Aug. 4, 1958, inception.
Most Hot 100 Top 10s Among Solo Males 29, Michael Jackson 28, Stevie Wonder 27, Elton John 26, Drake 25, Elvis Presley 23, Paul McCartney 21, JAY-Z
Notably, Paul McCartney made even more trips to the top 10 as a member of The Beatles, who earned 34, a sum second overall only to Madonna's 38; Rihanna ranks third among all acts with 31 top 10s, followed by Michael Jackson's 29. Similarly, the Jackson 5/Jacksons, of which Michael Jackson was a member, totaled 11 top 10s as a group.
Also, with featured billings an established element of R&B/hip-hop, 17 of Drake's 26 Hot 100 top 10s have found him in a lead role and nine as a featured artist. (Twelve of JAY-Z's 21 top 10s have been in lead roles and nine as a featured act. All the other acts on the list above tallied their top 10s exclusively as leads.)
Meanwhile, Drake returns to No. 1 on the Hot 100, as "Nice for What" rebounds from No. 2 for a fifth total week at the summit. He's now a week from tying the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, for the second-most total weeks on top among solo males: 37 each. Usher leads all male soloists with 47 cumulative weeks at No. 1 (while Mariah Carey paces all acts with 79 total frames atop the Hot 100).

Gary -
I am going out of my mind with Billboard.biz. The search function fails me 90%, the weeks at #1 banners are wrong on many of their charts, etc, etc, etc. I recall you getting results by calling them a few weeks ago. What department did you finally get through to? Too much money every year for such a farce, so I want to speak with someone - other than a subscription drone - who knows what they're talking about. Thanks.

Gotta say I'm impressed, I've been here for a year now and yet this is somehow the first time I've seen someone use the "rap isn't music" argument, congrats! also way to ignore that whole "short poem or other set of words put to music" part of the definition which yknow is kiiiinda important So Harlem Shake is not a song? how did you come to this conclusion lmao i never said instrumental songs weren't songs, i was just pointing out that the person i quoted left out an important part of the definition in order to make their point plus harlem shake has vocals so this comparison doesnt even work

Ella Mai Scores First Top 10 on Billboard Hot 100 With 'Boo'd Up'
News
By Xander Zellner and Gary Trust | May 30, 2018 11:22 AM EDT
She's the first woman to send her first Hot 100 entry to the top 10 since Cardi B.
British singer-songwriter Ella Mai, 23, earns her first top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart (dated June 2) with her first chart entry, as "Boo'd Up" jumps from No. 11 to No. 8.
After debuting on the April 14-dated Hot 100 at No. 78, the song reaches the top 10 in its eighth week on the chart. It rises 7-6 on Streaming Songs (earning 28.6 million U.S. streams, up 23 percent, in the tracking week, according to Nielsen Music), holds at No. 30 on Radio Songs (35.1 million in airplay audience, up 5 percent) and lifts 38-37 on Digital Song Sales (12,000 downloads sold, up 14 percent).
Her breakthrough hit concurrently spends a second week at No. 1 on the Hot R&B Songs chart and holds at its No. 6 high on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs.
Mai is the first artist to take a debut Hot 100 entry to the top 10 in 2018, and the first since Lil Pump, whose "Gucci Gang" hit No. 3 in December. She's the first woman to earn the honor since Cardi B, whose "Bodak Yellow (Money Moves)" spent three weeks at No. 1 in October.
Further, Mai's EP Ready reaches the top 10 on Top R&B Albums (12-8), where it's the chart's Greatest Gainer, pushing by 12 percent to 10,000 equivalent album units. The set also hits new highs on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums (No. 34) and the Billboard 200 (No. 65).

They only started counting Meant To Be in its like 5th week on charts. I assume you mean Meant To Be on Hot Country Songs. For a pop song (Billboard originally categorized MTB as a pop song) or any other genre (not including country i assume) to chart on Hot Country Songs, they must be given an impact/adds date to country stations for it to be eligible to chart.

So Harlem Shake is not a song? how did you come to this conclusion lmao i never said instrumental songs weren't songs, i was just pointing out that the person i quoted left out an important part of the definition in order to make their point plus harlem shake has vocals so this comparison doesnt even work "a short poem or other set of words set to music or meant to be sung" How does Harlem Shake apply? Is not a short poem, it's not meant to be sung... And does 3 words count as "a set of words?"

Kris Wu is just #11 on Digital songs after that run at #1 on iTunes? And Billboard doesn't disclose its sales figures in Hot 100 Chart Moves, but says it has 6.1m streams.

Drake & Lil Baby Rule On-Demand Streaming Songs Chart With 'Yes Indeed' 6/1/2018 by Kevin Rutherford
It’s Drake’s ninth No. 1 & Lil Baby’s first.
Drake is back atop Billboard’s On-Demand Streaming Songs chart -- and this time, he’s brought Lil Baby with him. “Yes Indeed” by Lil Baby and Drake rises to No. 1 on the chart dated June 2 in its second week on the ranking, shooting 12-1. It grabs 32.2 million on-demand audio streams in its first full week on streaming services -- in the week ending May 24, according to Nielsen Music. The track was released on May 15, in the middle of the previous tracking week (ending May 17).
Overall, in total streams in the week ending May 24, the song racked up up 39.5 million streams total, good enough to jump 33-2 on Streaming Songs. It’s Drake’s ninth On-Demand Streaming Songs No. 1, extending his record for the most chart-toppers on the list (Justin Bieber is second with six). In 2018 alone, Drake has led the list with three different songs -- “God’s Plan” (nine weeks), “Nice for What” (four) and “Yes Indeed” (one).
Lil Baby, meanwhile, becomes the first act in 2018 to lead the ranking with their first-charting title (and the first to do since Cardi B with “Bodak Yellow (Money Moves)” in September 2017). The song concurrently shoots into the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100, becoming Drake’s 26th top 10 and Lil Baby’s first as it jumps 49-6.
