I appreciate the album as someone who also has had a messy dating life.

Based on listening to clips of the album, I definitely think the first two singles were the best choices to release in advance. That said, my excitement has definitely been dampened a bit. Originally, I was going to order it from Amazon, but when I saw the sky blue variant wouldn't deliver til next Tuesday and the Lapis one next Friday, I was determined to just buy in full price in person tomorrow. Now, after hearing the clips, I just ordered the sky blue variant from Amazon and am only paying $12. I can wait til Tuesday to hear it in full. It's not like I don't already have too much new music to listen to, LOL. Hope the album does well! I'll be back next week with my thoughts.

It's a decent pop album. I agree that the single choices were the right singles, but besides Espresso, PPP, and Taste I only see 2 other songs possibly being singles. 2 or 3 songs on this album are incredibly jarring, and the rest are filler.
Barring the filler and songs I think are awful I'd give it maybe a 7 I guess. Definitely will be loved by her fans, and will be her first platinum record.

Definitely not as good as eics. I think it doesn't match the hype. I hate slim pickins and really not about talk singing.

My only issue is the sequencing is lowkey a disaster. Because of the whiplash track-list, it never gels as a body of work.
That being said, there's no real duds and I genuinely like her style. She and Troye Sivan remind me a lot of each other. In that their voices are kind of twee, so they largely take a lighter approach. It doesn't produce the most dynamic music on its face, but it's a lovely vibe and the material sneaks up on you with repeated listens.
And there is no shortage of single choices, the label can work the hell out of this. "Taste," "Good Graces," "Bed Chem," "Slim Pickins," "Don't Smile," and "Juno" are all options IMO.

This is probably the shortest ever album that I didn't listen from start to finish when started. Got so boring after the first few tracks (and I don't need to hear Espresso for 150th time).

Haven't listened yet, but I wanted to chime in on the sequencing comment. I have the thought every so often about all the elements that can make or break an album and sequencing is just as important, but often overlooked. For me, the elements I think about are the following (not in any order): Lyrics Lead Vocals Background Vocal Arrangements Instrumentals Production Track Sequencing The first five apply to individual songs, but also how an album sounds cohesive or sensical. Sequencing can throw a wrench in that though when its done sloppily, e.g. having "Peacock" immediately after "Firework" on Teenage Dream. Thankfully in the streaming era we can re-order but it seems albums are not only getting shorter but also lazier with sequencing and cohesion. No wonder Hit Me Hard and Soft and Cowboy Carter stand out so much because there's cohesion and care in the sound and sequence!

I'm gonna guess they didn't expect Espresso to blow up like it did and the weird sequencing is a byproduct of them rushing a lot of this project to get an album out there before the end of the summer.
I haven't fully listened but what I've heard is cute.

Is it just me or Bed Chem remind me so much of Ariana. From the production, lyrics and especially the vocals. I’m really appreciating her voice with this album.

My only issue is the sequencing is lowkey a disaster. Because of the whiplash track-list, it never gels as a body of work. To this note, I think this album would've been better as two separate EPs (ala love+fear). The tonal & stylistic differences between songs makes it a very jarring listen.

I’m a huge fan of ‘Espresso’ so I went into this album with high expectations and I was kinda let down. After two listens, other than Espresso, the only songs I enjoyed were Taste, Good Graces, Bad Chem, and Juno. Maybe it’ll grow on me over time but I’m only keeping a few songs at the moment.

This is a pleasant listen. There's not a single bad song here but it would have worked much better as a 7-track EP, without any of the weak cuts.
"Bed Chem", "Juno" & "Don't Smile" were the songs that grabbed my attention on my first listen.

Definitely some sequencing issues as mentioned above, but this is a solid pop album through and through. No skips to be found! Fabulous MV for "Taste" as well.

Had it on in the background while working this morning and enjoyed it - surprised at the tepid reactions (though I understand the point about sequencing). “Juno” was one that made me look up to catch the name of it.

Like Dua Lipa’s album, I didn’t find anything worth listening back to other than the two singles.

Fun first listen! Excited to dive deeper, but seems like a good ol' Pop album thus far.

Dua is an interesting comparison, because she was hinting very ambitious body of work and we got... well, an album called Radical Optimism which has maybe 10 minutes of music that was worth listening again (the 3 singles). It's pretty much the same with this - at least for me.

I think the album is really good! I love "Bed Chem" and "Good Graces"! How are either of those not the next single?!
Also LOVE the "Taste" video and Death Becomes Her inspiration!

A lot more slow songs than I would have liked. "Taste" and "Bed Chem" are the highlights. I'll give a it a better listen on my commute tuesday.

Enjoyed it overall but the released singles are misleading compared to the rest of the album.

Took to it more than I expected to on the first couple listens. Will have to see how things evolve as I play it some more.
Also, FYI to anyone ordering the Amazon exclusive vinyl:

I was considering the Amazon vinyl because of that shade of blue, but not anymore. If I get the vinyl, I’ll order the one from her web store.

The Spotify numbers are fantastic, especially when compared to how her last album did (~3 million):
