Dave Matthews Band's 'Come Tomorrow' Bound for No. 1 on Billboard 200 Albums Chart
News
By Keith Caulfield | June 11, 2018 8:31 PM EDT
Album set to launch with the biggest week for a rock set in more than a year.
Dave Matthews Band’s Come Tomorrow is on course for a No. 1 debut on next week’s Billboard 200 albums chart -- and with the biggest week of 2018 for a rock act. Industry forecasters suggest the set -- released on June 8 via Bama Rags/RCA Records -- could launch atop the list with over 250,000 equivalent album units earned in the week ending June 14.
If Come Tomorrow starts at No. 1, it will secure the group its seventh chart-topping set.
The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week based on multi-metric consumption, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). The top 10 of the June 23-dated Billboard 200 chart (where Dave Matthews Band could start at No. 1) is scheduled to be revealed on Billboard’s websites on Sunday, June 17.
Assuming Come Tomorrow starts with at least 250,000 units, that would mark the biggest week for a rock album since 2016. The last rock set to score a bigger week was Metallica’s Hardwired… To Self-Destruct, which bowed at No. 1 with 291,000 units (according to Nielsen Music) on the chart dated Dec. 10, 2016.
Come Tomorrow’s first week will be bolstered by sales generated from a concert ticket/album sale redemption offer with the group’s U.S. tour, which launched on May 18 and continues through September.
Come Tomorrow is Dave Matthews Band’s first studio album since 2012’s Away From the World, which also bowed atop the list. It launched with 266,000 copies sold in its first week, back before the list transitioned from a pure sales chart to an equivalent album units-ranked tally in late 2014.
If Come Tomorrow arrives at No. 1, it will mark the seventh consecutive chart-topper studio effort from the group. All of the band’s studio sets, starting with 1998’s Before These Crowded Streets, has debuted at No. 1. (In between those studio efforts, the group charted with live sets and compilations, but those did not reach No. 1.)
Other albums heading for sizable bows on next week’s Billboard 200 include Kids See Ghosts’ self-titled effort, Dierks Bentley’s The Mountain and Sugarland’s Bigger.

Kids See Ghosts & Dierks Bentley Aiming to Debut in Top 3 on Billboard 200 Albums Chart News By Keith Caulfield | June 12, 2018 10:06 PM EDT
Kanye West and Kid Cudi’s collaborative project KIDS SEE GHOSTS and Dierks Bentley's The Mountain are both on track to score debuts in the top five on next week’s Billboard 200 albums chart, according to industry forecasters.
KIDS SEE GHOSTS’ self-titled debut set may bow at No. 2 on the June 23-dated Billboard 200 with perhaps 135,000 equivalent album units earned in the week ending June 14. Bentley’s new The Mountain is likely to launch at No. 3 with around 100,000 units, securing the country star his ninth top 10 on the chart.
Both albums should arrive behind Dave Matthews Band’s Come Tomorrow, which could start at No. 1 with over 275,000 units. (The album's forecast has grown a bit from its June 11 prognostication of 250,000.) All three efforts were released on June 8.
The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week based on multi-metric consumption, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). The top 10 of the June 23-dated Billboard 200 chart is scheduled to be revealed on Billboard’s websites on Sunday, June 17.

Dave Matthews Band Scores Seventh No. 1 Album on Billboard 200 Chart With 'Come Tomorrow'
Band scores its biggest week for a rock album in four years, sets record as the group with the most consecutive No. 1-debuting studio albums.
Dave Matthews Band notches its seventh No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart, as Come Tomorrow launches atop the tally. The set, which was released on June 8 via Bama Rags/RCA Records, earned 292,000 equivalent album units in the week ending June 14, according to Nielsen Music. Of that sum, 285,000 were in traditional album sales — the biggest sales week for a rock album in over four years.
The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). The new June 23-dated chart (where Dave Matthews Band debuts at No. 1) will be posted in full on Billboard's websites on Tuesday, June 19. Here are some of the highlights of Come Tomorrow’s big No. 1 debut:
Record-Breaking No. 1 Debut: Come Tomorrow is Dave Matthews Band’s seventh straight studio album to debut at No. 1 — making them the only group to see seven consecutive studio albums bow at No. 1. The band’s hot streak dates back to 1998, when Before These Crowded Streets started at No. 1 — marking the group’s first leader. (Dave Matthews Band has charted many other non-studio albums since 1998 that did not go to No. 1, including a greatest hits package and a bevy of live releases.)
Biggest Week for a Rock Album in Over Four Years: Come Tomorrow starts with the largest week for a rock album in overall units since the Billboard 200 transitioned to a consumption units-ranked list in late 2014. Further, the album scores the biggest sales week for a rock release in more than four years — since Coldplay’s Ghost Stories bowed with 383,000 copies sold (chart dated June 7, 2014). Come Tomorrow’s big first week was bolstered by sales generated from a concert ticket/album sale redemption offer with the group’s tour that began on May 18.
Biggest Sales Week of 2018: Come Tomorrow easily notches the biggest sales week for an album in 2018, with 285,000 copies sold. It surpasses the previous high-water mark of the year, set when Justin Timberlake's Man of the Woods started with 242,000 copies sold (Feb. 17-dated chart). The last album to sell more in a week before Come Tomorrow was Taylor Swift's reputation., when it bowed with 1.2 million (chart dated Dec. 2, 2017).
Largest Overall Week for a Group Since 2015: No group has logged a week as big as Dave Matthews Band with Come Tomorrow in total units since One Direction’s Made in the A.M. started at No. 2 with 459,000 units on the Dec. 5, 2015-dated chart. Fourth-Largest Overall Week of 2018: Only three albums have tallied bigger weeks in 2018, and all were accomplished in their opening frames: Post Malone’s beerbongs & bentleys (461,000 units; May 12), J. Cole’s KOD (397,000; May 5) and Justin Timberlake’s Man of the Woods (293,000).
News about the rest of the new top 10 is scheduled to be announced later today (June 17).

It could have been much higher had "The Carters" put their album on iTunes. Drake should pass it soon True. I think Drake could hit 1 million overall, which would make 2 albums over 1 million this year. Is Adele releasing this year? It's been nearly 4 years.

The Carters' 'Everything In Love' Is Now Available on Spotify, Amazon Music
News
By Lars Brandle | June 18, 2018 3:42 AM EDT Beyonce and Jay-ZBeyoncé and JAY-Z’s joint album Everything In Love is now available to stream at Spotify and to download at Amazon Music, a breakthrough which suggests a full rollout is underway. Recorded under the name the Carters, the surprise album dropped on Saturday (June 16) as an exclusive to buy or stream on Jay's digital music platform, Tidal. It seems that exclusive window has abruptly closed. In a social media post, Amazon announced its users can buy the 40-minute album in the MP3 format, or unbundle its individual tracks. The Carters 'EVERYTHING IS LOVE' ?? t.co/IEWKaXrRb6 pic.twitter.com/QDfAcslJPm — Amazon Music (@amazonmusic) June 18, 2018 The album has also hit Spotify, despite the Carters giving the streaming giant a slapdown on album track "NICE." “My success can’t be quantified/ If I gave two fucks about streaming numbers, would’ve put 'Lemonade' up on Spotify/ Fuck you, fuck you,” explains Beyoncé on her decision to keep her 2016 album Lemonade a Tidal exclusive. JAY-Z's solo works remain scarce on rival services and Spotify, the streaming market leader, offers only a handful of his recordings and live tracks. Hip-hop’s power couple announced the nine-track album on stage Saturday during their On the Run II live date in London. The tour rolls on to Amsterdam Arena on Tuesday night (June 19). Stream Everything In Love on Spotify below.

Why is Billboard late in reporting the top ten albums? Probably problems with streaming numbers!

Kids See Ghosts & Dierks Bentley Debut in Top 3 on Billboard 200 Albums Chart
News
By Keith Caulfield | June 18, 2018 3:31 PM EDT
As previously reported, Dave Matthews Band swoops in at No. 1 on the new Billboard 200 albums chart with the group’s seventh leader, Come Tomorrow. The set earned 292,000 equivalent album units in the week ending June 14, according to Nielsen Music. Of that sum, 285,000 were in traditional album sales -- the biggest sales week for an album in 2018.
At No. 2 on the new Billboard 200, Kids See Ghosts’ self-titled album debuts with 142,000 units, with 79,000 of that sum in traditional album sales. Kids See Ghosts is the duo project from Kanye West and Kid Cudi. The set is the second of a string of weekly releases from West’s G.O.O.D. Music label, following his own chart-topping ye, which falls to No. 5 in its second week (74,000 units; down 65 percent).
Country star Dierks Bentley bows at No. 3 with The Mountain (102,000 units; 94,000 in traditional album sales), marking Bentley’s ninth top 10 and his best sales week ever. His previous biggest sales frame was scored with the debut week of his last studio set, Black, in 2016, when it began with 88,000 sold.
The Mountain also logs the third-biggest overall week, in units, for a country album in 2018. The only larger overall frames scored by country sets this year have been the starting weeks of Jason Aldean’s Rearview Town (183,000 units) and Keith Urban’s Graffiti U (145,000 units). All three sets were enhanced by sales generated by a concert ticket/album sale redemption program.
Post Malone’s beerbongs & bentleys dips 2-4 with 92,000 units (down 7 percent).
Below West's ye at No. 5, Cardi B’s Invasion of Privacy slips 5-6 with 46,000 units (down 6 percent), Juice WRLD’s Goodbye & Good Riddance shifts 6-7 with 43,000 units (up 3 percent), and The Greatest Showman soundtrack moves 7-8 with 38,000 units (down 10 percent).
Lil Baby’s Harder Than Ever is steady at No. 9 with 34,000 units (down 8 percent), while Shawn Mendes’ self-titled album falls 8-10 with 31,000 units (down 21 percent).

Where's Sugarland? Or are they debuting next week? Thanks. According to HITS, they got around 27k sold which would put it just outside the top 10.

Billboard 200 Chart Moves: Fleetwood Mac's 'Very Best Of' Album Surpasses 2 Million Sold News By Keith Caulfield | June 22, 2018 5:53 PM EDT
On the latest Billboard 200 albums chart (dated June 23), Dave Matthews Band opened at No. 1 with Come Tomorrow, marking the group’s seventh leader. The set earned 292,000 equivalent album units in the week ending June 14, according to Nielsen Music. Of that sum, 285,000 were in traditional album sales.
The Billboard 200 chart ranks the week’s most popular albums based on their overall consumption. That overall unit figure combines pure album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). Now, let’s take a closer look at some of the action on the rest of the Billboard 200:
— Sugarland, Bigger – No. 11 — The country duo returns with its first album since 2010, as Bigger bows at No. 11 with 30,000 equivalent album units earned. The set's current single single “Babe,” featuring Taylor Swift, peaked at No. 8 on the Hot Country Songs chart, and has so far climbed to No. 27 on the Country Airplay tally.
— Various Artists, Now That’s What I Call Country, Volume 11 – No. 44 — The Now That’s What I Call Music train keeps a rollin’, as the compilation series nets its 82nd entry on the list with the arrival of Now That’s What I Call Country, Volume 11. The effort enters at No. 44 with 12,000 units (all from traditional album sales).
— Fleetwood Mac, The Very Best of Fleetwood Mac – No. 145 — The band’s The Very Best of Fleetwood Mac compilation surpasses 2 million copies sold in the U.S., as the hits package sold another 2,000 copies in the week ending June 14, bringing its overall sales total to just over 2 million. The Very Best of Fleetwood Mac peaked at No. 12 in 2002, and is one of the act’s 11 top 40-charting efforts on the tally.
— The Beach Boys With The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, The Beach Boys With The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra – No. 165 — It’s the 56th chart entry for The Beach Boys, and the set also bows atop the overall Classical Albums chart, as well as the Crossover Classical Albums chart. The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra took the original recordings of such smashes from The Beach Boys like “California Girls” and “Help Me, Rhonda” and provided orchestral accompaniment.
— Portugal. The Man, Woodstock – No. 199 — Portugal. The Man’s Woodstock celebrates its one-year anniversary on the chart, as the set shifts 186-199 in its 52nd week on the tally. The album debuted and peaked at No. 32 and has never left the list since its release. Through June 14, the album has earned 460,000 equivalent album units, of which 84,000 were in traditional album sales. The set’s songs have collectively accumulated 370 million on-demand audio streams, led by the smash single “Feel It Still” (with 292 million of the 370 million sum). The single spent 20 weeks atop the Alternative Songs airplay chart, and peaked at No. 4 on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100.

The Beach Boys Score First No. 1 on Classical Albums Chart With Royal Philharmonic News By Keith Caulfield | June 22, 2018 6:54 PM EDT
The Beach Boys have gone classical, as the veteran pop/rock band scores its first No. 1 on both the Classical Albums and Classical Crossover Albums charts, as The Beach Boys With the Royal Philharmonic bows atop both tallies (dated June 23). The album starts with 5,000 copies sold in the week ending June 14, according to Nielsen Music.
The new set blends The Beach Boys’ original recordings of such hits as “California Girls,” “Kokomo” and “Good Vibrations” with new orchestral accompaniment from the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
While this is the first No. 1 on both charts for The Beach Boys, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra is a frequent visitor to the tallies. The ensemble has collected four top 10s on both lists in the past year, thanks to collaborations with The Beach Boys, Aretha Franklin (A Brand New Me), Roy Orbison (A Love So Beautiful) and Elvis Presley (Elvis Christmas With the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra).
