He wasn't the nicest of guys (putting it very very mildly), but getting shot dead at only 20 years old isn't anything anyone deserves. RIP. Definitely expecting SAD! to gain big next week.

Whitney went #6 with I Will Always Love You back in 2012 when she died, that had 4 days plus a ton of airplay after her death. X not being big in AirPlay (not mainstream) will struggle to have a launch quite like Whitney’s but a Top 10 resurge on the Hot 100 is certainly possible. I wasn’t a fan of X but did enjoy Sad!, Moonlight and Jocelyn Flores from him. He was a bad person but at the end of the day no one deserves death unless completely deserved. I would like to find out who did this if we will ever find out and did they have any connections, weird something like this happens nowadays versus back in the late 90s with Tupac and Big Poppa.

Wouldn’t wish death on anyone. I know some people are claiming moral high ground and said he ‘deserved’ it, but that isn’t justice. If those charges were proved, a long jail sentence was what he deserved. It’s still surprising how many people supported his music with those types of allegations against him.
His tracks will get a boost, but perhaps not as big as all the stories do refer to the charges. There’s a big ‘ick’ factor. I remembered the DV charges, but I didn’t know she was pregnant.

Just got off of a Reddit thread where people were celebrating. I know a lot of people here didn't like him, but can we not do that here? Thanks.
As a lot of you know, XXXTentacion was one of my favorite artists. I feel pretty emotional about it.
While several legends have died in the iTunes and streaming era (Whitney, Prince, David Bowie, George Michael), I don't think there's been a person with this level of current relevance to have died since The Notorious B.I.G. over twenty years ago. Who was also murdered in a drive-by shooting.

Celebrating the death of a human being is always a shitty thing to do. I agree with what was said above, if the charges against him were true, he would've deserved a long jail sentence. He definitely didn't deserve to get shot dead.

^RIP XXXTentacion. While I don't wish anybody to die the way he did, I wasn't that shocked it happened to him. I haven't a big fan of his music, but I do expect lots of streaming of it over the next few days given the attention his music and non-musical issues have gotten the last couple of years and the fans that he was able to get in spite of the latter ones.

Interesting note:
The biggest Hot 100 death surge happened when Prince died on the same week that Lemonade was released.
Now, Beyonce releases another album, and we will probably experience another surge that rivals it in the same week.

He chose the rap life. He chose to do the negative crap he did in the past. Sure he was trying to better himself but that doesn’t erase what he did in the past. While I wouldn’t wish death on him, something like him being shot to death isn’t a shocker to me.
I already have a feeling who’s next.

I suggest we should refrain talking about our personal views of his death (and his life) here as I feel like it will not go anywhere cordial. Death is always sad, no matter what the circumstance is. Nothing was proven except in the court of public opinion. And even if he did beat a pregnant woman, his punishment should have been however many years in prison and then a chance to better himself. Wishing death on anybody but a murderer themself is an immoral thing to do. Do not pretend to take the moral highground by celebrating a man’s demise. |
