Post your favorite songs of the year so far, not only hits, but everything.
Mine (only one song per artist):
Honorable mentions:
Body - Loud Luxury ft. Brando
FRIENDS - Marshmello & Anne-Marie
Lucid Dreams - Juice WRLD
Psychopath - Charlotte Lawrence, Nina Nesbitt & Sasha Sloan
Selfish - Julie Bergan
10. All The Stars - Kendrick Lamar & SZA
This was a shocker for me and most Pulse users who know my taste and my opinion towards Kendrick Lamar. I stated DAMN. is one of the worst albums I ever heard and i still stand by that but... DAMN 'All The Stars' is an extremely brilliantly done collaboration between these two artists. The beat is great and very addicting, the subject matter is important and beautifully delivered by both SZA and Lamar. The chorus is so catchy and it's a beautiful song for the night time!
9. Out Of Focus - Chelsea Cutler
'I hate the way you smoke cigarettes when you're drunk.' This song is just way too relatable and beautiful for me to not enjoy it. The production is very simple yet haunting and her voice is so smooth. This made me discover this great artist. 'I hate the way you speak from your heart when you're drunk, but you can't talk when you're sober.' Her lyrics just hit home hard!
8. One Kiss - Calvin Harris & Dua Lipa
When I first heard about this, I was super excited! Dua Lipa and a great producer, this is bound to be great! And it... was? On first listen, and on seconds and even third, I wasn't fully on board with the song's weird tropical sound. However, after some time passed i started to truly appreciate this song's brilliance: It's super catchy, danceable and crazy and I love it for that!
7. Don't Get Any Closer - Bebe Rexha
Bebe Rexha's freshly released album 'Expectations' has several tracks I could have chosen for this list, but I chose to go with 'Don't Get Any Closer', the album's most James Bond-y song. The guitars give the track a very mysterious vibe and her vocals are very good on this one. I also love the lyrics about being afraid to show another person your true colors. (Shoutout to 'Sad')
6. For You (Fifty Shades Freed) - Liam Payne & Rita Ora
One of many smashes Rita Ora released recently. This beautiful track for the Fifty Shades Freed soundtrack has a very interesting and great production. Their voices harmonize so crazily together and Rita's vocal performance is one of the best I have ever heard of her and in recent memory. The delivery in the pre-chorus alone is Grammy-worthy and this song's charm makes it a total jam!
5. The Middle - Zedd ft. Maren Morris & Grey
Zedd with Maren Morris?? SIGN ME UP! Sure, this sounds a ton like 'Stay' but man this is so good. The production is really amazing, Zedd did a great job and Maren totally suits this style of Pop. This song is easily one of the catchiest songs of the year and thus deserves the success it had.
4. Love Lies - Khalid & Normani
On first listen, this sounded exactly like Post Malone's 'Big Lie' to me which is great. The production of this song is so smooth, you just feel like you're in another universe when jamming to this chill track. Khalid's calming voice and Normani's harmonies serve me some vocal talent as well. This track's vibe is easily the best part about it.
3. What I Need - Hayley Kiyoko ft. Kehlani
THAT PRODUCTION: Literally just listen to this and you'll immediately get why I love it. This song is the definition of a jam. I love that its chorus has two parts both of which totally slay my life. Both of them ound so amazing on this beat and contribute a lot to the atmosphere. The word BOP was invented for songs like this. AND THAT MUSIC VIDEO UUUH (Shoutout to 'Curious' and 'Under The Blue/Take Me In')
2. IDGAF - Dua Lipa
The guitar line. The lyrics. The power in her voice especially during the chorus. Her attitude. This song is just so savage and I'm living for it. Dedspite only being out for half a year (as a single), it's already iconic and one of the best Pop songs of the decade!
1. no tears left to cry - Ariana Grande
This song is so space-y and different. it has so many layers to it. Her vocals are on point, she serves us some amazing harmonies. The production is also very amazing. I love how explosive the chorus is. i mean, everybody on Pulse loves it (well most) and y'all know why! The lyrics are also very great and releatable. Pure slayage describes this pretty accurately.
