Drake has the most Top 10 hits in a single year with 10. He managed to earn 2 Top 10's in his debut year of 2009, which means he's earned 29 Top 10 hits over the course of the decade. As he earns his 31st Top 10, he ties Rihanna, it took Rih 12 years to earn her 31st while it took Drake only 9. At this rate Drake is gonna pass Rihanna (unless of course she drops some big tracks soon) and he will likely pass Madonna in a few years. I think Drake has 11 this year, the seven in the top 10 right now along with Yes Indeed, Look alive, walk it talk it, and diplomatic immunity

What do you mean? It's not like the chart is measured the same way now as it was then. It's not like Drake's achievements somehow undoes anything the Beatles did. It's not like Adele/Gaga/Britney/N Sync/Thriller/etc wouldn't have already broken half the records already had Billboard had a way to measure music consumption from album sales for the Hot 100 the way it does with streaming. Perhaps I'm just jealous of Drake's succes. But as someone pointed out on Facebook: ''You let each single set of 10 songs count as an album and then you ALSO let them chart individually just due to streams. Double dipping. What a freaking joke. It’s a record on a trade chart that no longer has any credibility''This caught my attention. I get the double counting concerns, I really do. But given the nature of both song and album consumption today, how else would Billboard properly measure the popularity of songs and albums without doubling counting track sales and streams? I've also heard people claim so many times that Billboard's charts have lost their credibility within the industry but I'm definitely not sure of that. In retrospect, every era of the Billboard 200 and Hot 100's history have had "problems" in terms of methodology (and those problems are mostly just people who disagree with Billboard's rules complaining because the chart isn't looking how they want it to look). At least today chart payola isn't rampant and we can measure actual music consumption and not depend on human-created sales reports from just a sample of music stores.

Is it bad that I'm lowkey lolling over 'Nonstop' not debuting at #1? People seemed to be so hyped for it and it didn't happen. Very bad I feel insulted

Honestly, my only issue with the Hot 100 doubling up on what also contributes to the album chart is that it's so uneven and that it hasn't always been that way. I personally consider it a more accurate measure of popularity but the simple fact that it only works for streaming and that sales don't contribute at all (and how could it) is a negative for me. But then there's the other side - how could they not include the streaming that does count toward the album chart?

Could 2018 be the year with the most debuts? Within Top 10? It's likely a yes. Also, going a bit further, the 53 weeks that count toward the 2018 Year-End could have the most songs charted. Including this week, we would have have more than 460 songs charted compared to 432 songs after 34 weeks that counted toward the 2017 Year-End. It is mostly a consequence of the wave of recent songs from album bombs.

Doesn't the UK chart do some downweighting formula to not overcount inordinately big singles? That would at least be a step. It was weird when Uptown Special was charting well almost exclusively due to Uptown Funk.

I kind of disagree with downweighting non-singles because there's no clear definition as to what constitutes a single. I mean, in Drake's case, most of the songs are obviously not singles but then one or two of these songs could go on to get significant airplay and become singles out of the label's control. Plus, going the 'single' route is giving control back to the labels again.

Regarding the debuts this year, 2018 has 23 Top 10 debuts as of 07-14 chart week, with 8 feature Drake and 10 of those are helped by album bombs.

Okay, downweighting the top 2 songs. I didn't think the word single was particularly important.

Is “Nonstop” at #2 the highest album track / non-single peak on the Hot 100? The best I’d seen before was DNA. at #4 last year.

I guess in a technical sense that's all true, but in an era of "features," I consider these types of comparisons to be the proverbial apples and oranges. The records that Elvis, Madonna, etc set just aren't the same as how artists like Drake and others do now.

So sad to see "Heaven", "New Rules" and "Havana" go to recurrent. At least "Coming Home" is going up and I hope it catches up and makes the year end list.

Off the Chart (Total: 27 songs if no re-entries) Both Sam Hunt's Downtown's Dead and Carrie Underwood's Cry Pretty are above Blake Shelton's I Lived It in Hot Country Songs chart. I Lived It is #100 and neither songs are on chart last week, so there are at least two re-entries this week. 69 75 I Was Jack (You Were Diane) 70 73 Drowns the Whiskey 94 RE Downtown's Dead

Well, this didn't seem to have such a huge effect on the bottom. Both Thomas Rhett and Chris Lane picked up big gains (about 20 spots), and we still got some debuts in the 80-100 range not from Drake.

Rap album bombs seem to affect other releases of the same genre more as the charts reflect listening more than buying. I think Future will suffer this week because his fans are listening to Drake.

i love drake very much, but that started like 2015/16. but rihanna is more childhood because most of her songs are iconic, like Umbrella,SOS,Unfaithful,We found love,What’s my name,Only Girl,Diamonds and i can count dozens more and they were international smashes. And i think both are very big artists that deserve their attention, because they’re working hard for that and i think drake and rihanna were together 2 times. Rihanna‘s songs are more recognizable globally and because they’re mostly older then drake‘s songs that are mostly newer and he impacted the chart globally only since 2015/16 with hotline bling/one dance. And rihanna was a global thing (and also in the us)already in 2005 with her first song „pon de replay“(on the music video set they met for the first time😁). And afterwards her career didn't stop it went straight up,SoS,Umbrella, Don't stop the music(I think everybody knows the song) So i would say that they're both iconic in their own way

And be relevant enough to be able to do that and get away with it while having people care. It’s doable though. Drake, or any big name act, can release an album the traditional way (cd and maybe digital) but limit streaming to only the singles as they come out and go back to focusing on one song every 3 months. Or just release the singles one-by-one over the course of a year and drop the album once you had amassed 5 or 6 number ones. So that albums essentially become greatest hits packages collecting all the singles that were previously released from that "era". That's interesting. That's pretty much what they did during the pre-rock 'n roll era and into the very beginning of it.
