I'm positive Nice For What will be #1 on this chart, but let's see how the streaming numbers evolve over the next couple of days.

Nonstop is the first proper track on the album (I'd consider Survival the intro) which is why it has the biggest numbers imo. Could change as soon as tomorrow.

Also I'm pleasantly surprised Spotify updated its numbers on time today. They're usually late after album bombs.

I've had to surrender to the fact that the Hot 100 is a different animal than it once was, both by formula and who occupies it on a regular basis, and that my days of being into what the current generation is into have passed.  But, like my observation and fascination of the charts and acts that came before my time, I choose to look at today's charts the same way - a sign and reflection of the times.  I don't know your age, but I think it gets easier to accept at a certain point.  I've been following closely since 83-84, and it wasn't until the streaming era kicked in that I felt a disconnect to the Hot 100 and many of the songs and sounds that occupy it. Now I'm just observing and documenting without all the investment I once had in the songs that are charting.

I mean, I've only really enjoyed 3 of his singles from 2016-2018:  One Dance, Too Good and Passionfruit.  So a lot of his heavily streamed hip hop singles of late haven't been on my radar, making him feel less of a force to me personally.  I never really got into God's Plan or Nice for What beyond hearing them a few times on the radio without changing the station.

I have been very aware of his dominance on the charts tho, so it's hard for me to argue that he doesn't feel popular when I objectively know he is.

I hear you.  I think it's tricky to compare him to pop-heavy acts, though, especially if you're not super into hip hop.  Until Drake had some pop hits under his belt and this urban wave happened on the Hot 100, he wasn't on my radar at all.  The acts you mentioned were already on my radar from their starts, and I paid more attention to them because they were more my thing.  Drake's brand seems a bit more low key (for lack of a better word) than many of the high-profile artists you mentioned, too.

I was just looking at his award nominations list and it's insane, so is his chart discography, dating back to 2009.  So I think the notoriety is there, it just wasn't as prominent outside of hip-hop until more recently.

Drake is the most successful nobody there is. In that, people who don't listen to his music don't know who he is. People who don't listen to Taylor Swift know who she is, Drake's name is just not out there. It's not just it being hip-hop either, Eminem was a huge, inescapable name.

I thought about Eminem when I was responding to the other poster - but I stopped myself because I changed my mind.  But you brought him up, so here's what stopped me from using him to compare household name status...

Eminem was far more outspoken and controversial than Drake was or ever will be, for one.  Drake is far more low-key in both personality and in terms of subject matter in his work/art. He was very personality driven, in a polarizing, provocative way. Eminem was also, dare I say, a white rapper, and certainly the first to be that big, so he attracted an audience that Drake may not have, especially 20 years ago when Em started.  Em was also more visible to the pop crowd thanks to the TRL era.  Today people have to seek out a Drake a video, whereas Eminem was intermixed on a predominantly pop tv show, daily.  To put it another way, Eminem really stood out for more than just record sales and hits.  I don't think Eminem is a good example to use for these reasons.

I think Drake seems big. I think he's massive. I think he's out there.  I think he's very well known. I just don't think he's as integrated into pop music culture as Eminem was.  And he's not rapping about killing his wife, his mom, or berating other pop stars in his lyrics to quirky, tongue-in-cheek pop/rap songs.  Drake's either talk/rap/singing about love, sex, or the game, which doesn't necessarily set him apart as much or create headlines.

I don't have really have much investment in the songs charting, and whenever I see anything getting exciting coming up, it usually underperforms or outright flops. I think for me, it's hard because I'm not particularly a fan of any of the big name acts on the Hot 100. There's nothing for me to get hyped about. And even when I do like a mainstream act, they've underwhelmed in commercial success or quality. Most people here, as far I can tell, do have an artist or band (possibly more than one), they can follow on the charts. I really can't.

I don't know why you said two weeks specifically. I know a lot of people don't know what I listen to, but what I listen to doesn't particularly do well on the charts. And when you have the mediocrity of Drake (or really most acts who have album bombs), it's not even particularly interesting.

I was a pop kid in the 80s. I enjoyed all the popular rock bands that were charting, too. Then I remember a shift to more urban crossover music on the charts when I was about your age in the early 90s, the things I really loved were being replaced and it threw me off for a bit. It helped that a lot of it was upbeat party rap to even out the gangsta rap.

There's a somewhat darker, more downbeat vibey hip hop happening right now that is pretty dominant and I don't love it.  But the more I hear it, the more I've come around - like when Black Beatles finally clicked with me after I initially wrote it off.  

Who are some acts (current or older) that you'd like to see charting?

I honestly don't care about Scorpion destroying the charts because we've witnessed Album Bombs all year ( mainly from rap) and no one complained about it like that ,but it seems when it comes to Drake everyone loses their 💩 . Only Reason people are mad because Drake is about to block everyone's fav or make their fav song go recurrent.

Yea my family knows who drake is but they mostly hate him. I remember I tried to make them watch his SNL but they put on Miley instead
