Lana's so close to having the longest-charting album by a female not named Adele on top of being the lowest-selling on the list. Only a modern classic.

Here is my list for the top 10s Only difference between ours was The Fame by 1 week, I forgot to add the week it re-entered top 10 in 2017 after the Superbowl. Fixed. Do you have a list for top 20/top 40? Or should I try to compile one

Ironically, Appetite for Destruction's re-entry into the Billboard 200 prevented G'NR's Greatest Hits from charting there. Same thing happened in Catalog Albums this week.

I'm always confused why albums in 1990s spent way more weeks in top 10 than albums in 2000s. It's just pure sales, how's the album turnover rate so different when there's no streaming factored in it?!

Some of the 90’s albums didn’t debut at #1 but slowly gravitated to their peak position; that’s the case for Alanis. None of those albums came crashing through with a million first week sales, and they maintained incredible stability. In Shania’s case, Come On Over had massive crossover appeal and an international (non-countrified) edition that kept it in the top 40 through the year 2000. Some of these are pre-Nielsen, but I can attest that MC Hammer was on another level of fame during 1990 as well. His 21 weeks at the top coupled with “Can’t Touch This” made him a cultural phenomenon.
The 2000’s list is rather impressive in its own right, but the level of domination is toned down a bit. Overall album sales so decline by the middle of the decade, and the turnover rate increases dramatically by 2006.
