"The Baby" is the only Blake song I like. "This One's For the Girls" is cheesy, but it's a fun one to sing along to.
I didn't like Paisley at all when he first debuted, but he's really grown on me over the years (as a singer and a personality). "Celebrity" is one of his few joke songs I actually enjoy.

I love the way the story unfolds in the lyrics for this one. Yeah, it's a typical boy-meets-girl love story with predictable outcomes, but I can't help myself!

It peaked at #5 in April of 2003. The song was written by singer-songwriters Rob Crosby and Stephanie Bentley, both of whom have had record deals of their own. The music video was meant to portray the song accurately, directed by Deaton-Flanigen. The girl in the song is played by Noel Wiggins (Angela Carter). The boy is played by Luke Benward, who many people don't know, is the son of Blue County member, Aaron Benward ("Good Little Girls", "That's Cool", "That Summer Song"). Both Luke and Aaron are actors. This music video was released before Blue County ever released a song to country radio. bboat11 loses his #1 at #14.

Plan is to reveal the top 10 tomorrow or Sunday at the latest.
But first, which song misses the top 10?
Mark Wills â â19 Somethinââ Brooks & Dunn â âRed Dirt Roadâ Dierks Bentley â âWhat Was I Thinkinââ Joe Nichols â âBrokenheartsvilleâ Gary Allan â âMan To Manâ Randy Travis â âThree Wooden Crossesâ Montgomery Gentry â âSpeedâ Craig Morgan â âAlmost Homeâ Billy Currington â âWalk A Little Straighterâ Dixie Chicks â âTravelinâ Soldierâ Sara Evans â âBackseat Of A Greyhound Busâ

#11. Craig Morgan - "Almost Home"
Total Points: 627 Average: 31.3 Year Released: November, 2002 Radio & Records Peak: #7 Billboard Peak: #6 Rankings:CoJoFan - 1 sabre14 - 1 g8erboi - 2 rgreen0625 - 3 d3vin44 - 6 toomuchboy - 8 .indulgecountry - 12 kw9461 - 17 Cody Wants Out... - 19 bigfan101 - 22 zaclord đ - 29 gardyfan - 36 castleoblivion26 - 37 collinkottke - 42 KanenrĂĄ:ke - 49 tim - 49 bboat11 - 58 LBTrocks - 61 someguy - 87 austin - 88 Following: carriefan15@crapkuki23 "Almost Home" was the second single off Craig Morgan's I Love It album in November of 2002. It peaked at #6 on Billboard in June of 2003. The song spent 36 weeks charting on R&R, which was a very impressive chart run back in 2003...but "Almost Home" is most remembered as being a "brought back from the dead" single, since it went recurrent on Billboard after peaking at #33 before reappearing on the chart three weeks later at #25 and took off. This was the first hit single for Broken Bow Records, along with Morgan's first top 10 hit as well. The song won "Song of the Year" at the 2003 BMI Awards. It was written by Craig and Kerry Kurt Phillips. This is one of my all-time favorite songs, ever in country music. I think it's one of the most well-written songs I've ever heard. The storytelling in its lyrics in phenomenal, along with its spot-on production and instrumentation to go along with its intriguing lyrics. The chorus melody is near perfect too. I'm so glad they never did a music video for this, after years of wishing they had...it's better, imo, to have this song's images left to human imagination. Whether the man was dreaming or about to move on to his version of heaven, that's up to your interpretation. Craig's singles got worse as the 2000's went on but he's had some good ones and this was his best. CoJoFan and myself lose out #1 here.

I have left: 1, 3, 4, 6, 15, 25, 31, 35, 91, 99
"Red Dirt Road" and "Backseat of A Greyhound Bus" are overrated big time and really don't deserve Top 10 over some of the songs that just went out. That being said I could see one making the Top 5...
My Predictions: 10 - "Walk A Little Straighter" 9 - "Red Dirt Road" 8 - "19 Somethin'" 7 - "Three Wooden Crosses" 6 - "Speed" 5 - "Man To Man" 4 - "Brokenheartsville" 3 - "Backseat of a Greyhound Bus" 2 - "What Was I Thinkin'" 1 - "Travelin' Soldier"
I'm probably way off but I really hope "Speed" and "19 Somethin'" surprise me and make the Top 5!

Billy Currington - "Walk a Little Straighter" 4. Montgomery Gentry - "Speed" 3. Gary Allan - "Man to Man" 2. Dixie Chicks - "Travelin' Soldier" 1. Joe Nichols - "Brokenheartsville"
I have 1, 6, 10, 13, 25, 30, 44, 48, 59, 78 left. Hoping for something in my predicted top three to win.

Just hoping Dixie Chicks, Gary, or Joe don't win this! All are good songs, but the other 7 are top-notch

That mediocre Gary Allan song sticks out like a sore thumb in this Top 10 imo. I hope it goes quick. Everything else is honestly pretty good, if not excellent.
Taking a random stab at predictions:
01. Travelin' Soldier 02. What Was I Thinkin' 03. Backseat of a Greyhound Bus 04. Brokenheartsville 05. Three Wooden Crosses 06. Speed 07. Red Dirt Road 08. Walk a Little Straighter 09. 19 Somethin' 10. Man to Man

I actually thought Craig had a shot at top 5, so a mild surprise he was #11, but still a strong showing for a great song.
As for the top 10, that's quite a murderers row. I've never much of a fan of the Mark Wills song (overplay much?), but it certainly deserves it's place among the best of '03. My best guess:
10. Man To Man 9. 19 Somethin' 8. Red Dirt Road 7. Three Wooden Crosses 6. Walk a Little Straighter 5. Speed 4. What Was I Thinkin' 3. Brokenheartsville 2. Backseat Of A Greyhound Bus 1. Travelin' Soldier
I checked my rankings out of curiosity, and i have 1,15,18,25,30,31,39,42,43,71. Not great, but then again I knew some of my obscure choices for the top 20 would be gone by now (plus many of the remaining songs suffered from massive overplay back in the day, which probably knocked them down my list)

Way to completely blow a hole in sabre14 's excuse for not liking this one, lmao. I do realize many of us are men, Nick. We all come from different backgrounds however. A song pumping up how proud they are to be a girl/women isn't something that speaks to me. I'm a guy in my late 20's, straight, likes stereotypical guy things like sports. This song was also out when I was 13-14 years of age. Back then I think I disliked it more, because of my immaturity. I now know why it meant a lot to others, guys included, but never spoke to me. The way the song is delivered, imo, is about as cheesy as one could write and deliver a song, regardless of what the song subject is. I know Martina generally does well in rankdowns and is well liked mostly but she's had some really bad songs if you ask me over her career. Okay, but you don't get to use your age and gender as an excuse. I am also a straight male in my 20s, who was a straight little male child when the song came out, and I could literally be hired as Martina's PR coordinator

Iâm just explaining why I donât like the song. If my explanation on my reasoning isnât good enough so be it but donât chastise me as just finding excuses to hate on a song you love. The subject of the song I canât connect with and the songwriting/delivery of the song is just bad. If trying to come with a deeper explanation on why I come to that conclusion isnât good enough, then so be it.

Whether that's an "excuse" to dislike the song, or just an "explanation for why" you dislike the song, it still leads to a pretty problematic set of values and empathy issues that I would pretty much only expect from Ten Pound Glammer himself. But maybe I'm biased, because as a straight male who loves Spaghettios, I am able to relate to the song in ways that a straight male who loves sports cannot

Also sabre14 , it's nothing against you personally. I was just pointing out that your reasoning was pretty iffy, and probably could have been interpreted in ways that you didn't intend. I have no love lost to you for your low ranking. Thanks for all the hard work you're doing on this rankdown! It's such a great year, the eliminations are getting more and more painful the closer we get to the end! But you are plowing through it in expert fashion, and I'm glad to be along for the ride, as much as it hurts

I just saw this next post, 'cause it popped up while I was typing the last one. I'm sorry it seemed like a personal attack. I wasn't intending to suggest that you personally have a problematic value set; I was merely bringing up the point that anybody in general who simply doesn't like the song just because they are a straight male comes across as the definition of toxically masculine... Which I am sure you can agree would be actually offensive, as somebody who values and respects women. I know that you are not that way, because we've been around each other enough on here to at least "know" that much about each other. I am assuming there is more to your reasoning than that, which is why I was pointing out that leaving it the way you left it sounded way more unintentionally sexist than you probably meant it to. Of course I went about it in a way meaning to mess with you, but apparently went about it in the wrong way, because it struck a nerve. For that I apologize. I do still appreciate your work in this rankdown!
