You seem to have forgotten that "Whiskey Lullaby" beat like 50 better songs to win the 2004 rankdown... No, I remembered that one correctly. My #1 won. At least me flopping with that rankdown and you flopping with this rankdown doesn't even compare to .indulgecountry flopping in the 2013 rankdown. His rank alone was practically a larger sum than the entirety of everybody else's ranks for it

So glad I changed my #1 at the last minute! :kii: Definitely wasn't expecting B&D and DCX to do so well; I was actually bracing myself for a Dierks or Gary win just to see whose feathers would get ruffled. :kii: Great rankdown to participate in and follow along with, sabre14. This was a great collection of songs and I thoroughly enjoyed (almost) every minute of it. Can't wait for what's next!

I'm glad the right song won, although I suspected it would. I ranked it #2 for the decade, and it's easily one of my 5top 5 or 6 favorites all-time. Little surprised Red Dirt Road ended up #2, it's been overplayed to death, but it's still a darn good song. Thrilled Randy made it so far. Even if it's not my absolute favorite of his, it's still darn good and I'm happy to see him do well (it's too bad "Pray For The Fish" peaked too low to make the rankdown - I really love that one).

Can I just ask? zaclord 🌈 why do war songs as a whole not resonate with you and aren't a fan of them. If you don't want to answer that is perfectly understandable. I don't know really. I just can't think of any song about war or soldiers that I've ever liked. "Where Were You When the World Stopped Turning" I love, but that's not quite a war song. But I think not having anyone in my life that is/was a soldier and being pretty anti-war myself probably plays into my feelings toward those types of songs. They just never do anything for me

Great winner! Not one of my favorites by DXC admittedly, but I love them and their music immensely so even still "Travelin' Soldier" is better than most artists at their best. They just never do anything for me "Travelin' Soldier" is no more of a 'war song' than Carrie's "Just a Dream," honestly. The focus is on the loss of a loved one, not 'rah-rah 'Murica sure is great!'

I'm not a fan of war songs myself, either. I consider "Travelin' Soldier" to be a song about loss myself. I see it more of an anti-war song than a war song, if anything.
