Lmao Perfect rose back into the Top 20, who the f**k is still listening to that song?!?! It still has upwards of 70m total audience impressions at radio. Most Ed Sheeran songs have longevity, a lot of which is fueled by AC radio. Perfect is currently #2 on AC according to Mediabase.

Great achievement for "No Tears Left To Cry". In this streaming/rap era, 11 weeks for a female pop solo song is huge.
"No Tears Left To Cry" is the only female pop solo song to spend more than 10 weeks in the top 10 in the last two and a half years.

Her best hope for a number one at this point is to sing a hook on a huge rapper's song. But what rap smashes have sung hooks by a pop or r&b singer anymore? The closest thing I can think of is Kendrick & SZA on “All the Stars” but even that anamoly peaked in the bottom half of the Top 10. Overall the rap/sung hook combo is out of style now. I didn't say they were still huge, just that that would be Ariana's best bet for a number one song. If she performed on a Drake or Post song it would have a much better chance at number one than one of her solo singles.

God's Plan, Nice for What, In My Feelings... 3 solo #1 smashes ranking up points after points every week top 10 for the decade/all-time charts. His album is soon going to enter the all-time top 100 singles eras (albums who's singles have most cumulative points). I still think Taylor will end up #1 because Drake's songs might split points and his touring might not match up to Taylor's. But for sure, Drake is the male artist of the decade and Taylor or Adele depending on if she releases another 21 next year is the female artist of the decade. I hope drake gets at least 2 more #1s this era and pulls a 150M grossing tour. Can't see Scorpion spawning fourth number one considering how fast DMTM is dropping. Nonstop is the only chance but like 0.0000001% DMTM needs an iconic video at the right time. He'd have to remix Emotionless or another song Great achievement for "No Tears Left To Cry". In this streaming/rap era, 11 weeks for a female pop solo song is huge. "No Tears Left To Cry" is the only female pop solo song to spend more than 10 weeks in the top 10 in the last two and a half years. Yes, Ariana proved she can secure a hit but she needs to follow it up with more hits not mess.

Ariana Grande's 'God Is a Woman' Debuts at No. 11 on Hot 100
News
By Xander Zellner | July 24, 2018 10:16 AM EDT
Ariana Grande's new single "God Is a Woman" launches at No. 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart (dated July 28), earning the pop star her 13th top 40 hit.
The song arrives as the seventh-highest-debuting hit of her 28 career entries. Following the July 13 premiere of its official video, it starts at No. 4 on the Digital Song Sales chart (42,000 sold in the week ending July 19, according to Nielsen Music) and No. 8 on Streaming Songs (26.5 million U.S. streams).
The track is the second proper single from her fourth LP Sweetener, due Aug. 17, and follows "No Tears Left to Cry," which debuted and peaked at No. 3 in May and currently stands at No. 8.
In chronological order, here are all 13 of Grande's top 40 Hot 100 hits:

U2 Earns First Dance Club Songs Leader Since 2001: 'To Be at No. 1 Is Huge'
News
By Gordon Murray | July 24, 2018 11:14 AM EDT
'One of my favorite things is to hear how our songs get reinterpreted,' The Edge says.
U2 unleashes its fourth No. 1 and first in 17 years on Billboard's Dance Club Songs chart, as "Love Is Bigger Than Anything in Its Way" rises 2-1 (on the list dated July 28). The track from 2017's Songs of Experience , which bowed as the band's eighth No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart dated Dec. 23, was remixed by Cheat Codes, Will Clarke, and Funk Hunters, among a host of others.
U2's The Edge tells Billboard, "One of my favorite things is to hear how our songs get reinterpreted by our club remix collaborators. It's an even bigger thrill to find out that so many people like the 'Love Is Bigger' remixes.
"To be at No. 1 on the Billboard Dance Club Songs chart is huge."
U2 had last led Dance Club Songs on Feb. 3, 2001, with "Beautiful Day." The track became U2's third total and consecutive No. 1, following "Discotheque" (March 22 and 29, 1997) and "Lemon" (Dec. 11, 1993).
In June, "Love" became the Irish act's sixth Dance Club Songs top 10. U2 had last appeared on the chart in 2009, when "Magnificent" hit No. 2 that July. The Rock and Roll Hall of Famers have totaled 12 Dance Club Songs entries, a run which began 37 years ago on the then-named Disco Top 100 with "I Will Follow" (No. 34, May 1981).
U2's other chart entries are: "New Year's Day" (No. 38, April 1983); "Desire" (No. 37, December 1988); "Mysterious Ways" (No. 42, February 1992); "Even Better Than the Real Thing" (No. 27, September 1992); "Elevation" (No. 32, August 2001); and "Vertigo" (No. 8, December 2004).

We don't know who the Female Artist of the Decade is.
It could very well be Rihanna depending on her releases between now and 2019. Of course, Adele is very much an option as well as Swift.
The 2010's methodology still remains 'up in the air' for the most part.
The Top four, I believe, will be: Rihanna Adele, Taylor Swift and Drake.

I think it'll be a tie between Rihanna and Taylor Swift. I'm favoring Rihanna over T. Swizzle because Rihanna has done way more charts-wise than Taylor. She's also sold more singles than Taylor. Taylor wins the album and touring game, but until we know just how much Billboard is going to weigh achievements on the Billboard 200 chart against other metrics this decade, I'll put Rihanna as the Female Artist of the Decade. Adele has done a lot, but not enough to outpace both Rihanna and Taylor. Drake is my favorite for Male Artist of the Decade and Artist of the Decade overall. For some reason, I believe Billboard will weigh streaming a lot more than other metrics for this decade seeing as it's become the prominent means of music consumption over the latter half of the decade, kind of like the same way Eminem won the Artist of the Decade title because of his dominance in selling albums during a decade where physical/pure sales were the prominent means of music consumption. Not to mention that Drake will more than likely end the decade as the most successful Hot 100 artist. I could be wrong, but if that happens, Drake has the Artist of the Decade title in the bag EASILY. There's also the possibility of Drake releasing a string of singles (and maybe even an album) as early as next year.

I think Rihanna has the advantage over Taylor or Adele due to more crossover appeal, specifically with pop and urban. Much like Mariah Carey and Janet Jackson in their days of chart glory, an urban-leaning and/or urban-friendly pop act is hard to beat.

Much like Mariah Carey and Janet Jackson in their days of chart glory, an urban-leaning and/or urban-friendly pop act is hard to beat. I think some people may be underestimating just how much Rihanna dominated the first half of this decade. Loads of #1 records, largely well-selling singles, even her tours did really well. Adele hasn't really had any chart dominance, especially on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Taylor has a bunch of #1's, but none of them have stayed as long as 8-9 weeks (correct me if I'm wrong), so she doesn't have a history of lasting long on the charts with her singles. Adele wins the album sales game, Taylor wins the touring game, but Rihanna is and should be a strong favorite for winning the Female Artist of the Decade.

There are 5 Country songs in this week's top 40 thanks to the Hot 100 formula change. I don't quite recall when was the last time we had that happen.

I would like to point out that the Drake wave is kinda making country look stronger than it is. Just amongst the top 40s, I noticed an interesting little quirk:
Hot Country 01 17 Meant to Be 02 25 Tequila 03 31 Get Along 04 36 Simple 05 RC Heaven 06 38 Mercy
Recurrent Songs 01 Plug Walk 02 Havana 03 Thunder 04 Heaven
and even further, for the top 50s
Hot Rock 01 34 Whatever It Takes 02 RC Thunder 03 RC Believer 04 RC Feel it Still 05 46 Sit Next to Me
Recurrent Songs 05 New Rules 06 Rockstar 07 Believer 08 Walk It Talk It 09 Feel it Still
That's 3 top 40s and 6 songs overall that were taken out by the Drake wave that would still be charting right now: that boots quite a few country songs from the top 40 and several off the top half as well.

^Makes a lot of sense - the effect of album bombs on longevity/recurrency. I actually like it, simply as a means to keep the chart fresher, even if it's arguably less accurate.

I'd say Scorpion is bigger than 50 Cent's two eras.
If it ends up 5-6x Platinum next year like Views, that's more impressive than doing 8 million in 2003 & 5 million in 2005 with a re-release.
As for singles, Drake just wins there completely. You can't even blame the way charts are set up now, because in 2003-2005 the Hot 100 was controlled by Urban/Rhythmic airplay. Drake would've done just as well with singles under a formula like that, considering he has 5 #1's on Urban Radio this year.
Drake also is just a bigger household name, a bigger media name, etc.

Drake would've done just as well with singles under a formula like that, considering he has 5 #1's on Urban Radio this year. Drake also is just a bigger household name, a bigger media name, etc. There was a recent poll that went kinda viral on Twitter where people were comparing 50 Cent's dominance to Drake's. A while back, people were comparing Nelly's run to Drake's. All that shows is that Drake is on the most unprecedented run in the history of rap music. I can't even understand how he's been this dominant since 2009 and has gotten bigger and more successful every year since. You could make the argument that Ed Sheeran, Cardi B, Kendrick and even Future owned 2017, but 2016 and 2018 were owned entirely by Drake and it's not even close. It'll be worse if he decides to have another era next year because if Drake has proved anything, it's that people are ALWAYS hungry for more music from him. He'll end up with probably 22 or 23 Rhythmic Radio #1's by the end of this year. That's just crazy. He's not even giving any of his peers the chance to catch up with him, lol.

Future's mixtape was a huge flop on Hot 100 :o only one song remained on chart for second week, who whould've thought in the streaming age, all his albums are certified at least gold.

Drake should be the most streamed artist of all time, right? He's probably got close to 20 billion streams on Spotify and Apple Music just revealed he's crossed 10 billion streams on their platform.

Yeah, Drake's a beast... until he's not anymore. I mean, everyone's hot streak ends for one reason or another. And sometimes it's got nothing to do with the music, but rather the person/personal life/bad decisions, etc. New acts come along and take all the shine, too, just as Drake did. It'll be interesting to see when he fades out and how it goes down. Odds are that we are currently experiencing his commercial peak.
Drake's career is interesting so far... he's had a presence for nearly 10 years now, but most of that was a lead up to what he's got now. Often times acts blow up immediately and achieve their peak with their debut or 2nd era (50 Cent). Plus, by not having an excessive amount of huge pop radio hits earlier in his career, he didn't burn on that audience.

Future's mixtape was a huge flop on Hot 100 :o only one song remained on chart for second week, who whould've thought in the streaming age, all his albums are certified at least gold. He's thoroughly overexposed himself. He dropped an album and a mixtape in 2014, another album along with three mixtapes in 2015, another album, an EP and a mixtape in 2016, two albums and a mixtape in 2017 and so far this year, he's dropped a soundtrack album and a mixtape with plans for another album. Throughout all these years, he's also appeared on an unhealthy amount of features. He also doesn't have the kind of dominance to merit dropping that frequently seeing as a lot of his songs end up as misses as far as charts and radio placements/plays go. I'm interested in seeing what the album he plans on releasing later this year does.

Some artists can get away with that type exposure, some can't.. Not everyone is Drake
Drake is practically big enough to rename the Hot 100 after Drake himself

I'm a huge Drake fan and I'm just as shocked at how successful he still is, considering the fact that he's been garnering hits since '09. People forget that the only reason Best I Ever Had failed to hit #1 was because of the grip the Black Eyed Peas had on the charts at that time in '09. His first single, off a mixtape, could have reached #1 on the Hot 100 chart - that's ridiculous. He's always been a megastar (he's the only one amongst all his peers right now who was doing massive first week numbers, going platinum in a year with his albums WAY BEFORE the streaming era). It's just unfortunate that his chart dominance wasn't as prominent back then because of how the charts mostly favored pop acts and how streaming wasn't yet a thing. He's dropped every year since 2015 and every project has been massively successful. I know every star burns out, but after years of even me telling myself "this is Drake's peak year," I'm done trying to predict when he'll peak or even start to decline. In the 9 years since he debuted, LOADS of stars have come and gone and he's still here, as strong as ever.

Rihanna dropped an album in '09, '10, '11 and '12 and none of her eras suffered flops or a lack of hit singles. Acts like her and Drake land their hits WAY MORE TIMES than they ever miss. Their batting average is crazy ridiculous and that earns them an air of loyalty with their fanbases and the general public.

I'm just saying I won't be surprised when he loses his throne, everyone does - I'm more interested in the why and how it all goes down.
