Usher's peak felt way bigger to me tbh. A diamond album in pure sales, four #1 singles - Yeah & Burn being the top 2 on the 2004 year end chart, he really owned 2004. Usher's YEAH was bigger than God's Plan and In My Feelings. I think a big part of why Usher's hits "felt" bigger is that they had stronger Pop radio support than these Drake songs do.

By the way Sirius channel 3 becomes the Hot 100 channel at 12pm EST today. It sounds like they are going to play every #1 from the Hot 100 in a row. Curious. I might check that out. It just became a Dave Matthews Band channel a month ago. Was that only temporary?

Shawn Mendes Is the First Artist to Land Four No. 1s on the Adult Pop Songs Chart Before Age 20
News
By Gary Trust | July 30, 2018 11:28 PM EDT Shawn Mendes
'In My Blood' flows to the top, ahead of his Aug. 8 birthday.
Just ahead of turning 20, Shawn Mendes continues his historic teenage years, as "In My Blood" rises 2-1 on Billboard's Adult Pop Songs radio airplay chart (dated Aug. 4). Already the only artist with three No. 1s before age 20 on the survey (which launched in the pages of Billboard in 1996), Mendes extends his mark with this fourth leader.
The pop singer-songwriter previously ruled Adult Pop Songs with his debut entry "Stitches," which led the Feb. 6, 2016-dated chart; "Treat You Better," which spent six weeks at No. 1 beginning in October 2016; and "There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back," which began a five-week command on Sept. 9, 2017.
Mendes, who turns 20 on Aug. 8, boasts twice as many No. 1s as a teen as each of the two-runners up for the honor: Avril Lavigne ("Complicated," 2002; "I'm With You," 2003) and Lorde ("Royals," 2013; "Team," 2014).
The Adult Pop Songs chart measures total weekly plays, as tabulated by Nielsen Music, among its reporting panel of 87 adult top 40 stations.

It just became a Dave Matthews Band channel a month ago. Was that only temporary? Yeah, I think that channel has become another one where they cycle through certain themes based on what's going on. The DMB one was because of their new album and tour. This Billboard one is to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Hot 100. Channel 4 is currently a Beach Boys channel; not sure if it's permanent. The Beatles one on channel 18 has been going for awhile, so I assume it's permanent?

Dead with Thunder returning to #1 at Hot Rock Songs Personally, I'm even more dead at Despacito returning to #1 on Hot Latin. Was there some big thing for old songs this past week?

I'm glad to see Nevermind finally debut. Hope it can still become a smash, even if the US is late to the party with that song.

They could have these special channels without getting rid of Venus.

Demi Lovato's 'Sober' Re-Enters Billboard Hot 100, Up 199 Percent in Streams
News
By Xander Zellner | July 31, 2018 10:48 AM EDT
The ballad and Clean Bandit's 'Solo,' featuring Lovato, each hit new peaks.
Demi Lovato's "Sober" re-enters the Billboard Hot 100 chart (dated Aug. 4) at a new No. 56 peak, after spending one prior week on the survey (dated July 7) at No. 58.
The ballad re-enters with 7.2 million U.S. streams (up 199 percent) and 18,000 downloads sold (up 1,095 percent) in the tracking week ending July 26, according to Nielsen Music.
The song received a sharp increase in activity after Lovato was hospitalized on July 24 after an apparent narcotics overdose at her Hollywood Hills home.
Lovato also appears as a featured act on Clean Bandit's "Solo," which rises 66-61 on the Hot 100, likewise reaching a new peak. The track concurrently bullets at No. 36 on the Pop Songs airplay chart (up 7 percent in plays).

Jake Owen's John Mellencamp Ode 'I Was Jack (You Were Diane)' Jumps to No. 1 On Country Airplay Chart
7/31/2018 by Jim Asker
Jake Owen's "I Was Jack (You Were Diane)" ascends 2-1 on Billboard's Country Airplay chart (dated Aug. 4), despite declining by 3 percent to 40.1 million audience impressions in the week ending July 29, according to Nielsen Music.
The nod to John Mellencamp's four-week 1982 Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 "Jack & Diane" (with Mellencamp claiming a writing credit on Owen's hit) is Owen's seventh Country Airplay No. 1, among nine top 10s. He first ruled with "Barefoot Blue Jean Night" for two weeks in September 2011 and had last led with "American Country Love Song" in September 2016.
Meanwhile, as previously reported, Bebe Rexha and Florida Georgia Line claim the record for the longest-ruling No. 1 in the nearly 60-year history of Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart, as "Meant to Be" logs its 35th week in the penthouse. The song passes Sam Hunt's "Body Like a Back Road," which led for 34 weeks in 2017.
Luke Bryan achieves his 26th Country Airplay top 10 and his 25th top 10 promoted single in succession, as "Sunrise, Sunburn, Sunset" darts 13-10 (26.3 million, up 13 percent). Starting with Bryan's second Country Airplay top 10, "Country Man," in 2008, he has rattled off 25 straight top 10s (excluding holiday fare and tracks not promoted to radio), marking the second-longest active streak, after Carrie Underwood's 27.
Additionally, singer-songwriter Lori McKenna logs a new best on Americana/Folk Album Sales, as The Tree debuts at No. 3 (4,000 sold). She previously reached No. 4 with The Bird & the Rifle in 2016. McKenna co-wrote Underwood's latest Country Airplay (and Hot Country Songs) top 10, "Cry Pretty." McKenna recently said of the song's writing session on the Billboard Chart Beat Podcast, "It was just like another girl in the room ... except she can sing like Carrie Underwood."

^Yeah. They've been at #1 68 out of the last 73 weeks in Hot Rock Songs, with only a 5 week interruption by Feel It Still after Believer's run at #1.

There's a whole article from Billboard about this chart phenomenon. Whitney Houston holds the record with 9 straight weeks from "I Will Always Love You." That song was a monster. I know Whitney holds the record for most weeks with 2x the points of the next song, but are you trying to say In My Feelings isn't a monster? It'll have spent two weeks with 2x the points of I Like It by today when the charts are announced. Might do it again for this tracking week's chart and that will only continue once the video drops and gives it a huge boost. How many songs are doing/have done that this year/decade? It's an OK song, kinda bland. It only blew up because of some viral challenge, not on its own.

WTF is up with Normani? Love Lies has been rising up the hot 100 and finally hits the top 20 and no “thank you” or “OMG” post at all. I mean she doesn’t have to do it but it would be nice to know how she feels about this. Maybe she doesn't care. Or maybe shes taking her fans for granted because she's too busy living her life. That's the problem with America, everyone expects a thank you or award or tweet for everything.

A user here in this thread even pointed that tweet out. Guess you missed it. WTF is up with Normani? I was listening to 1966 on the way home from work and heard “Monday, Monday,” “When a Man Loves a Woman,” “Paint it Black,” and “Paperback Writer” in a row. All are classics. Also #1 that year were songs like “You Can’t Hurry Love,” “The Sound of Silence,” “We Can Work it Out,” “Good Vibrations,” etc. Any year would be fortunate to have so many songs still known over 40 years later.

Yes, there were definitely some classics but there were a lot that I had never heard before that I did not like. I am excited to hear the songs from the 90s and 00s.
