I've always liked Deborah. I agree that her lack of pop leaning hits is what probably caused her to be forgettable. Who is mentioning Adina besides George? The ways in which I HOLLERED! If it wasn't for George I would've forgotten about a lot of R&B divas .

Deborah has been able to sustain a career as a creative person. She probably has a better overall quality of life than some artists who've sold more but have all of the pressures of living life in a fishbowl. A lot of singers would kill to have Deborah's level of success.

I personally believe Deborah is still respected and has always been.

I liked "Officially Missing You" by Tamya but that's about it. "Into You" was done much much better with Ashanti's vocals on the hook of the fabolous song. Girl no. Lol

Who mentions Adina Howard? Lol.
Anyway Deborah has a fantastic voice, but she ultimately didn't have the same success as Brandy, Aaliyah, etc and certainly not Mariah and Janet lol I don't even know why this is a question, though "Nobody's Supposed to Be Here" is an R&B classic.

I remember many people mistook her for Ru Paul, I think it might have been difficult for her to carve out her own identity, kind of like Mindy Moore or Willa F. Poor Mindy!

who in the hell is george? George Thanks for all the shoutouts here yβall! I do love bringing awareness to all the forgotten/underrated R&B acts, cause they deserve just as much love as the newer acts. As for the discussion here, I always felt Deborah was well respected in terms of her voice, and her discography (mainly her first two albums). For being well regarded, she does have that huge dance following (all those #1s), and she had a couple of major R&B hits. However, while her debut sold okay, and she gained a lot of momentum with her second album, I think she lost it when her third album underperformed. After that, it felt like she shifted gears towards primarily the dance market and Broadway. With that long gap between albums she was no longer on the path to being a crossover artist, which is fine since sheβs had a very long, varied, successful career.

she didn't do more collabs with swedish house mafia A number of people in the Dance music community felt like she was following a trend instead of setting a trend when she worked with them. They felt it was really desperate.
