flopping because she could easily debut under a week old album, almost everything from the album hasn't caught on that well. For how big Nicki is and her Stans claim her to be one top ten debut during album week, lower than both of Travis' is pretty bad. Her putting Fefe on the album clearly shows she knows the situation isn't good. ”under a week old album” you mean the second biggest album of the year? I’m shocked she’s even debuting anything in the top 10. That’s really good for an act from the digital era. still the second week by an relatively new artist. For how big Nicki is, I expected 300k

New artists can be popular too, look at Post Malone for example. In fact they usually have albums with longer legs as people are still getting to know their music.

Astroworld was Travis' 3rd studio album
Queen was Nicki's 4th studio album

Plus she's a sales artist coming into the SpS era(1st was Pinkprint). Nothing wrong with #2 if it happens. People here like to make it a thing.

I'm sure damn near everyone expected her singles and everything about this era to go much better. People had the same expectations for Justin Timberlake coming off the success of his 20/20 Experience era and the success of Can't Stop The Feeling. Same thing with Katy Perry coming off her Prism era. Even Taylor Swift's reputation era, which is the farthest thing from a flop, is called a flop era by some people because compared to her 1989 era, it's an underperformance. Everyone would be calling Drake a flop if his Scorpion era wasn't as massive a success as it is. All these artists I mentioned are from the digital era. Stop trying to exempt Nicki. And it's not like she's the only one who has had a flop era recently. She just joins a long list of artists who have underperformed in the past couple of years. I'm sure even she herself expected a much better era coming into this year.

The era is underperforming, pulling 150k,charting 2 singles in the Top 10 of the Hot 100 (albeit not confirmed yet), and getting generally very positive reviews by the big music reviewing outlets is not flopping by any standards. Underperforming, yes depending on your expectations. Flopping? No. Don’t play into the bandwagon hate train.

8-10 weeks for "In My Feelings" at #1 is a lot. A lot a lot. Why are people treating that like it's nothing/disappointing?
That being said, I was almost surprised when I noticed the "fifth week at #1" thingy in the latest Billboard article. Five weeks, huh, doesn't feel like it's been that long already.

Dropping from #2 to #3 on Apple Music is dropping hard? 6 to 16 on spotify is a big oof. It’s still top 20, and besides there are more paid subscribers on Apple Music than Spotify, thus their streams count more. Chun Li did poor on Spotify and still managed a Top 10 debut

I was debating whether or not I wanted to get into the Aretha discussion, but I guess I will just say that during her lifetime, her chart/sales success was obviously not as big as other huge female superstars, such as Whitney, Madonna, Janet, Barbra Streisand, etc., although much of this was because she was a black woman with most of her success in the 60s and 70s, so not just her, but any woman was not going to pull in Beatles numbers then. Her catalog numbers don't seem to do too well either so because of all of this, I'm not expecting her to exactly blow up the charts, HOWEVER, REGARDLESS OF WHAT GETS REFLECTED IN THE CHARTS, I will definitely say that above all the other artists I mentioned, from what I've read she is definitely the most influential and esteemed by rock critics and music historians, etc., probably the most well-respected female musician of the entire 20th century. This is always an important caveat to these threads, that chart success doesn't always determine cultural influence and legacy, and her place in the music pantheon is well-cemented. Aretha was the first woman to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Enough said.

She was an R&B singer whose greatest fame was on the R&B chart (20 #1's) During Aretha's day the Hot 100 was a pop chart and not the all-format chart it is now. During the 60s-80s it was common for R&B hits to not even crack the top 40 on the Hot 100

Negative update for IMF, WHAT? I thought pop was eating it up like a biscuit (biggest gainer in last weeks) It was. It is. Pop updates have been weird since this tracking week started. Most of the songs that have been gaining 300+ the past few weeks all of a sudden dropped to 100, 200+ spins daily. Today's update for IMF was poor all across the board. 100+ spins on Pop, but gained very little in audience and it dropped a lot on Rhythmic and Urban.

People need to stop downplaying how hard Nicki has flopped this era. Hi, welcome to Pulse! It’s obvious you are a new member and are unaware of the difference between flop and underperform. Underperforming, yes depending on your expectations. Flopping? No. Don’t play into the bandwagon hate train. Flop. Underperformance. Call it whatever. It's pretty disappointing for an artist of her size and stature and I'm sure she expected a much better performance. Now that it's been confirmed that her sale figures include her tour bundles, it's looks much worse. Chun-Li only reached the top 10 because of cooked streams from Tidal and Fefe is a song she's featured on. All that means is that Nicki can't score a top 10 by herself anymore and that's saying a lot. Her songs so far this era haven't had strong debuts or had any form of longevity. All her songs have bombed on radio and on streaming platforms, except Fefe, which again, is a feature. I can assure you, she's seeing this era as her worst compared to others. This album will sell less than 200k in it's first week and will nosedive in it's second week. It will have no longevity whatsoever. Even beyond the numbers, just the messiness of the era alone. Maybe you call that a massive success, but that's a flop/massive underperformance/etc to me and everyone else.

Why is Africa by Weezer moving up and downin the past days? Updates have been messed up this tracking week. Better Now only gained 0.772 on Pop today after weeks of gaining 1.5+. IMF only gained 0.385 today on Pop today after weeks of 3M, 2M and 1M+ gains. Most songs are affected. Some are not.

Chun, a solo song, went Top 10 in its respective formats, and Top 10 on the Hot 100, so "cooked" it is. 🤷♀️🤔

Its airplay is about to start tanking. It has maxed out on Hot AC and Pop. Streaming and digital sales will start dropping as well. The only way it could potentially get to #1 is if In My Feelings starts dropping like "Look What You Made Me Do" or "This Is America," which isn't likely. If anything from the top ten is poised to be the next number one, it's "Fefe" (god help us) or "Sicko Mode," but I'd bet money on the next number one being something that hasn't blown up yet or just hasn't been released yet. (Or, god forbid, "Respect.")
