Well I'll start this thread and say that i was excited to buy this today (which i haven't felt in awhile) and i can say that he didn't disappoint! Each album cycle seems to just get better and i know it's not traditional country but i still like his music.
Here's my ranking upon first listen 1. Dad's old number- This song is really really good 2. Her 3. Love you too late 4. Both sides of the Mississippi 5. Somebody's been drinking 6. Break up in the end 7. All of it 8. I'll be your small town 9.Sounded good last night 10. Reason to drink 11. The ones who got me here 12. 20 in a Chevy- This sounds out of place on this album.

I had a good feeling about this album I think he improved from "You Should Be Here" specially on lyrics and Cole has been developing his own way without so many party songs too."Dad´s old number" is the highlight for me on the album...loved the lyrics."Love You Too Late" is single material.
1-Dad´s Old Number 2-Love You Too Late 3-All of it 4-I'll Be Your Small Town 5-The Ones Who Got Me Here 6-Somebody´s Been Drinkin 7-Break Up In The End 8-Sounded Good Last Night 9-Both Sides of the Mississippi 10-Her 11-Reason to Drink 12-20 in a Chevy - I agree its out of place

Too bad "Break Up In The End" has been a relative dud for a lead single, because I fear they'll stay clear of ballads for a while. Otherwise "Dad's Old Number" would be a non-brainer decision for next single. This album isn't as strong as his last two IMO, at least it catchiness or single potential. "Sounded Good Last Night" is one of the catchiest songs I've heard, so I hope it can become a single down the road. I think this will be a quiet era for Cole overall, similar to Brett Eldredge's current one.

I agree the songs arent catchy like the previous ones but it didnt bother me because somehow I think the lyrics are better.I would go with "Love You Too Late" as the next single but they have to think a way of "Dad´s Old Number" become the SINGLE of the album.

I will say, Cole is on the Mt. Rushmore of using country music legends and songs as lyrics. I'm beginning to notice it, which isn't a good thing. On this there's at least 2 songs (Both Sides of the Mississippi is the one I definitely know because its obnoxiously obviously). I think another references "Night Train" by Aldean. I think Tim McGraw gets a reference on this one too if I recall correctly. There was a song on his old album where he worked "Play It Again" into the production. I'm sure I'm missing some.

I´ve already noticed it too and I must say that I am not a big fan of using their names on the songs...everytime that I listen a reference I think it is weird.

Probably gonna give "Break Up in the End" another couple of weeks to finish it's chart run. 80/20 next single is "Love You Too Late" with "All of It" still in the discussion. "Dad's Old Number" likely the 3rd single, response to that song has been overwhelming. I'm biased but I think it's a great album with no real weak songs. If I were ranking the songs 1-12...
Dad's Old Number The Ones That Got Me Here 20 In a Chevy - Sounded Good Last Night Love You Too Late I'll Be Your Small Town Her Break Up In the End Reason To Drink All of It Both Sides of the Mississippi - huge Live though Somebody's Been Drinking

Any consideration at all for "Sounded Good Last Night"? That song is an earworm and a half and would be one of the first country songs to make reference to "going viral". I'd kill for it to be a single at some point, I don't want it to become another "Broke Down".

The chorus for "Sounded Good Last Night" reminds me sooo much of "Pound Sign" by Kevin Fowler (with a slight hint of "Drunk On A Plane" thrown in)
That having been said, I agree that SGLN is ear candy and should certainly be a single at some point.
