Funny how Maroon 5 can write the laziest songs ever, perform them sloppily and without emotion and have the cheapest possible production attached to them and yet still go to the top of the charts.

Lovely how Maroon 5 can write the most simple songs ever, perform them so chill and cool and have the littlest production attached to them and yet still go to the top of the charts.

People who host these streaming parties obviously don't have a good idea of how the chart works. Each person would have to stream the song a massive amount of times for it to have any significant impact, like at least hundreds of times. I'm not totally against them and it does seem like kind of a cool thing, even marketing-wise, to create hype and interest for an artist, but realistically speaking in terms of helping chart position, it would be so much easier to just tell everyone to buy the song, even just once, and it would have more of an impact. One thing I just thought of though is that if these streaming parties are taken seriously and loads of people do actually end up streaming the song, I imagine it would raise a lot of interest for the song and artist in general, and a lot of people might end up buying the song anyway, but I don't know if that's happened much.

I think the XXXTentacion song featuring Lil Pump and Swae Lee has a decent shot at hitting #1, itβs expected to drop with Lil Pumpβs Harvard dropout album which is sometime in September.

Maybe not as much as he was a couple of months ago, but saying he has βno relevancy anymoreβ is an exaggeration. Pump tries a new style in the snippet he previewed and it fits really well with this song. I think it has mainstream potential (bias aside), but who knows, I could be wrong.

"Drug Addicts" was a complete flop, lasting only a week and peaking at #83. "Eskeetit" fared a bit better, but not really a big hit. And then there was "Welcome to the Party", which had a minor blip of success. Nothing he can do will be on the level of "Gucci Gang". And XXXTENTACION, I expect to be forgotten about. Like he would have been had he lived.

Like he would have been had he lived. Again, saying he has βno relevancyβ is an exaggeration. And as I said, heβs no where near as relevant as he was a couple of months ago, and I agree with you saying nothing he can do will be on the level of Gucci Gang. I guess when his album drops, that would be a good indicator of βrelevancyβ. And as for your point regarding XXXTentacion to be forgotten about, I canβt really respond to it without being biased (currently, however, he is far from being forgotten about) but if he had lived, definitely not. His fan base was more of a cult and it continued to keep on growing because of the love he showed to his fans, as well as his interaction with them (Discord, YT, etc) (I would argue it was one of the strongest fan bases in hip hop). Anyways, slightly off topic, but yea, weβll have to wait and see how well the single does. I personally think at least a top 20 peak, but who knows, I could be mistaken. Time will tell.

I'd say 80% of the discussion again on this thread has no relation to next week's Hot 100 (I'm one to blame too)

I can't believe how many labels supposedly chased him. They're so clueless.

Threads are off-topic because the chart thread gets posted often times before the prior charts even go online. With a full 7 days to discuss an unpublished chart, might run out of things to talk about.

I think it's fun that we get to talk about a bunch of other stuff as opposed to strictly talking about charts in this thread. Especially in a year like this where we've had one artist stay at #1 for half of the year already, less than 8 months into the year. It's always interesting debating what song could hit the top position next, but that excitement goes away when one person holds that position for so long.
I think the thread will get more exciting when IMF drops and more songs have chances to reach #1.
With that being said, it's not like we don't still discuss music in this thread. We discuss musicians, their legacies, their chart achievements and future possibilities on the charts. I mean, we've got a full 7 days before we get another update on the Hot 100, there's only so many things you can talk about that concern chart movements directly.

Not relevant enough to hit #1 tho. SAD! barely had enough points to hit #1 after his death and that was all over the news.

The Beatles. 10 #1's: 1962-1965 (3 Years). 20 T/10's: 1962-1967 (5 Years). The Beatles had their first #1 on the Hot 100 in February 1964 and their 10th #1 in October 1965, and their first top 10 in February 1964 and their 20th top 10 in June 1966: 10 #1's 1964-1965 (1 year, 8 mos.) 20 T/10's: 1964-1966 (2 years, 4 mos.) Yeah, they were pretty amazing.

Really hoping this coming week is IMFβs last week at the top, then Maroon 5 gets the #1 for a quick week and then Post drops an MV, then Better Now gets there.
