That has always been the case - Consistent exposure over a long period of time is always better for an album than one week of good sales/streaming

imo Revival would have done better if it had been a surprise release since I think many got turned off by the lacklusters pre album songs. But still, great for Em.

Eminem's surprise drop Kamikaze had a marvelous Labor Day weekend on the major streaming platforms as well as retail. There's no physical yet, so that retail is entirely digital. Will Kamikaze fly past Revival, which logged 267k in its first week out last December?
If our projection holds up, it will clear that bar with ease.
Eminem (Shady/Aftermath/Interscope) 290-330k total activity, 155-170k albums
Marshall has the #1 album at iTunes as well as four of the Top 10 singles, including the #2 (“The Ringer”) and #3 (“Lucky You”) songs. He has seven of Top 10 at Apple Music, including #1 and #2 (the same two in the same order) and #1 album.
Spotify U.S.: six in Top 10 with “Lucky You” #1, “The Ringer” #2.
Spotify Global: “The Ringer” #1, “Lucky You” #3, “Greatest” #7.
Kamikaze is the #1 digital album at Amazon, and "The Ringer" is #2.

I would love to see him doing 330k with no physical! That really shows you that with the right material, Eminem can still absolutely SLAYYYYY all your favorites.

Kamikaze continues to grow as Eminem’s latest had a strong holiday weekend in both sales and streams. Digital-only in its first week, the album will exceed by at least 100k the first week of Revival, Eminem’s previous release in December of last year. Look for the physical CD of Kamikaze to drop this Friday and keep the album in the running for a second week at #1. Troye Sivan will have the week's other Top 5 debut.
1. *Eminem (Shady/Aftermath/Interscope) 365-385k Total, 220-235k Albums 2. Travis Scott (Cactus Jack/Grand Hustle/Epic) 79-84k, 5-6k 3. Not here for the gay s*** he still keeps lamely touting, in 2018 nonetheless, nearly 20 years into his career. What is it with him and homosexuality anyways? He's had a very long and complicated relationship with it. For sure he's got to be a closet or something...
But anyway, yeah I will say I'm impressed by the projections, especially how they've gone up so sharply after just a couple days of release. This latest sequence of Revival and Kamikaze is very reminiscent to the performance of Relapse and Recovery, the last time he released two albums two years in a row, where the first album did decently but not a complete flop, while the second one came back stronger and was a huge hit (or at least that's how it's looking for Kamikaze, of course we can't conclude for sure until after it's been out for a while).

Crazy numbers for Em. Cardi looks like she will fall out of the top ten for the first time this week as well.

^Finally, on the latter point. Proving that having a hit song or two going can only keep an album in that tier so long ...
Also, Troye Sivan's new album should have very similar numbers to the Blue Neighbourhood in both SPS and pure sales.

That's pretty great for Troye. Especially with no real promotion or single. The album is amazing btw. Along with Eminem... This is a great wrap up to summer for sure!! Such stellar music.
I'm really hoping Eminem can pass 400k!!
Does anyone have a list of all his album first weeks/debuts?

Is Eminem getting any radio Play yet? I think this cd sounds like whats on the radio now. I'm not a huge fan but when I skimmed through it on Itunes it sounded like he was going for an Urban/rythmic radio hit. Plus with the sales projections increasing all week it shows the public still wants some "Em'.

Some Urban and Rhythmic stations are playing several of the songs, including "Fall", "The Ringer", and "Lucky You". Mind you, nothing anywhere near a substantial audience yet.

It was mostly pure sales that kept that one around.

Anybody have the total US sales of each of Eminems albums?
Here's some courtesy of oldbloke @ukmix, keeping in mind there's only 21st century estimates (in millions) with their corresponding rank:
05 - 11.13 - THE MARSHALL MATHERS LP - Eminem 06 - 10.90 - THE EMINEM SHOW - Eminem 48 - 5.50 - ENCORE - Eminem 70 - 4.83 - RECOVERY - Eminem 98 - 4.25 - CURTAIN CALL: THE HITS - Eminem
Anything not mentioned, has sold 3.07 million or less this century.

Many musical soundtracks and cast albums have remarkable longevity - always have. None of generally had pop hits

^You can find some of those here:
Notice that most of the albums I listed, oldbloke's numbers are slightly higher. For the ones that you were asking about, you'd have to see the source of the data. Revival's numbers, for example, were first week pure sales.
