I vividly remember listening to Radio Disney in 2006-07 and hearing an edited version of “Because of You” by Kelly Clarkson. They completely cut out the line “and now I cry in the middle of the night for the same damn thing.” It literally went straight from the previous line to the chorus. Couldn’t they have found a way to censor the “damn” without removing the most important part of the bridge?

A lot of Radio Disney edits are like this, whenever they were unable to get the artist to record new lines.
For Christina Aguilera's "Come On Over Baby" they completely chopped out the second verse and the rap bridge - I question why they didn't play the cleaner original album "Come On Over" instead.

I heard a version of "The Next Episode" on the radio today that kept in the final "Smoke weed everyday" line, but they distorted "weed" which made it sound really stupid. If they thought people would be that offended by the word "weed," they should have just not played the line (and given there's a long pause before that line, it would have actually sounded normal for the song to end there).

I guess what you’ve heard was edited album version. The official radio edit removes that line.

I'm expecting Super Freaky Girl to be rendered incomprehensible by radio stations if it takes off on pop.
This is the edit I heard on Radio 1:
I can lick it, I can ride it while you slippin' and slidin' I can do all them little tricks and keep the dick up inside it You can smack it, you can grip it, you can go down and kiss it And every time he leave me 'lone, he always tell me he miss it

Not a radio edit, but I heard a very odd homemade-sounding edit of Nelly's "Grillz" when I was getting something at a local coffee shop the other day, which muted the word "rob" out of the phrase "rob the jewelry store." I don't know if the coffee shop was worried about somebody robbing them, but the edit was very strange lol.

The big pop station here was playing the album clean version for "Need to Know", but recently switched to an edit that censors "sexual", "ride", "ass" (the first time but not the second?), "erection", and "spank me, slap me, choke me". I was listening today and they now have an edit that blanks the entirety of "fuck all night" and "throw the pipe". So it's just "I just wanna..." and "Baby, come..."

I'm dead. 💀💀💀 Idk why they did that, but I was in the car with family, so had to play the clean version, and when the song went "My rhyme's inclined to break your -----.", I was like tf??

Years ago I heard an FM rock station play an 'edited' version of "Break Stuff" by Limp Bizkit. Why bother? The entire song is loaded with profanity.

I heard the censored version of STAR WALKIN for the first time today and had a good chuckle over it. I guess they couldn't have a bunch of noodley League of Legends nerds singing along to the n-word at Worlds.

Here's a tip for Radio Disney: if you have to censor not only the title of the song, but the name of one of the artists (they refer to Machine Gun Kelly as "MGK" on-air and on their website), consider not playing it instead. Also, this isn't "MGK ft. Camila Cabello" anymore. This is Camila Cabello ft. MGK. Ah, yes, classic Radio Disney censorship! I remember back when the movie Chicken Little came out, both Radio Disney and Disney Channel were trying to promote the soundtrack, specifically the main song that's in the opening of the film. However, the song was performed by the band Barenaked Ladies. So Disney just called them "BNL" in all the promotional spots for the soundtrack! And let's not forget that Radio Disney convinced an entire generation that "Closer" was performed by "TCS"

Somehow I'm still mad about the Radio Disney edit of Miley Cyrus' "Midnight Sky". "See my lips, see my lips" "They just don't want anything too suggestive-" They played f**king Bad Things and Strip That Down. This was also disappointing after they played You Need to Calm Down. I guess gay people are only okay in theory being hyped up by Taylor Swift. Screw it, here are some more honorable Radio Disney versions:

The clean version of "Wishing Well" by Juice WRLD is quite amusing. It's odd listening to a song about drug addiction where every drug reference is censored lol. ("If it wasn't for the ______ I wouldn't be here, but if I keep taking these ____ I won't be here") It's particularly funny and sad at the same time that the next lyric is "I just told you all my secret," since he in fact did not tell us his secret as it was censored lmao.

The clean edit of "Sleazy Flow" by Sleazyworld Go & Lil Baby oddly distorts all instances of "shoot" and "shot," which is funny in a couple places. "Shot" is distorted out of "face shot," so it sounds like he's saying "face shit, face shit" lmao. "Shooters" is also distorted in "That's where the shooters be" so it sounds as if he's saying "that's where the shitters be" lol.

On my way to work this morning and I heard a station (105.9 KISS) censoring 'damn' from Lizzo's "About Damn Time", which led right into Flo Rida's "Whistle" (not censored): "I'm a damn shame, order more champagne..."

The clean version of "Post to Be" always makes me laugh with how it censors out "Cold (n-word) turn the summer to the winter," and changes it so it sounds like he's stating the obvious..."Cold turn the summer to the winter" lol.

Local example that I just remembered; Peach PRC's 'Josh' - except I swear it didn't originally sound bad in censored form. The explicit line is 'f**k off, stop calling me, Josh' but I remember initially hearing a radio edit that muted the 'f**k off'. It sounded fine, it wasn't until I heard the explicit version in the video I even knew it was censored. Then later I heard another clean edit with a substituted lyric that didn't even flow properly and the mixing was off. The first edit was fine, don't know why they needed a second one...

The version of "Kill Bill" by SZA that BBC Radio is playing is ridiculous. Not only is 'killed my ex' blanked in the chorus, but also the word 'next' ("His new girlfriend's..."), and some other lines are completely replaced with instrumental like "The text gon' be evidence" and "playin' on my patience/Now you layin' face-down".
Also "If I can't have you, no one will" is fine the first time, but "no one will" is censored the second time it's said. I even saw a Facebook comment on the Official Charts page suggesting they just played the instrumental instead next time.

Radio's either gonna censor it like this or be scared to play Kill Bill at all. Thankfully it's enough of a streaming powerhouse to secure #1 anyway OP: Escapism. I've already expressed my anger at them CUTTING OUT THE LAST MINUTE OF THE SONG like wtf but they're also censoring a line so it says "back of the taxi sniffin -" with an echo on the word sniffin. Just sounds funny

"Let it Rock" by Kevin Rudolph f/ Lil' Wayne had a hilarious censor back when it used to be on the local station near me. At Lil' Wayne's part, it sounded like he had hiccups. It went "I could 'hic' you up, I could 'hic' you down." I don't know if the radio station used a sound in there or if it was cut at exactly the right part to sound like that. I am not entirely sure, but I always used to laugh and say Lil' Wayne has the hiccups. I wouldn't say it sounded awful censored, but more or less very funny.
