Does anyone else feel like Cardi's Invasion of Privacy era is long as hell? Bodak yellow was released over a year ago and Cardi currently holds #2 and #3 on billboard. She most likely will go #1 next week. Lol Cardi B really milked her Debut era for as long as possible. Damn, are attention spans really this bad now? One year on an album cycle is literally nothing. Up until very, very recently, album cycles could last up to two years, sometimes even longer. As examples, Teenage Dream's lead single was in May 2010 and its sixth single topped the pop airplay charts in January 2012, then went on to get a re-release with two more singles extending to the fall of 2012. 1989 started in August 2014 and finally ended the spring of 2016. Even the non-monster album cycled lasted roughly a year or longer. The Sweet Escape started in fall 2006 and finished winter 2008. Hell, look at what's #2. Maroon 5. Red Pill Blues has been going since October 2016. Of course it took the album a while to release, but then again, so did Invasion of Privacy.

I just got into the charts etc. I just felt that Cardi bs Debut era has been going on for a long time. I'm new to all of this. I'm so used to Drake and Post dominating then releasing new music the next year lol.

I hope Bruno is working on new music or plans to once he stops touring, I'd hate for him to jump straight into a vegas residency after his tour ends.

In fact, if you include the re-release as part of the era, it must hold the record for the longest era of all time, like you said with it's first single debuting in the top 10 in May 2010 and the last single, Wide Awake, being in the top 10 until Sep 2012 (and the top 40 until longer) that's a 2 year, 4 month stretch! Many people probably don't realize how M5's Red Pill Blues has quietly shaped up to be a rather huge era for them as well. It's somewhat debatable if you would mark Don't Wanna Know as the start of the era, but if you do, this could possible be their second-most successful singles era after Overexposed.

I think the longest era of all time was Shania Twain's "Come On Over" with the label starting in September 1997 and still actively pushing a single as late as March 2000!

I hope drake can do it I'm okay with 11 weeks at #1, so he'll have spent a cute 30 weeks at #1 in a calendar year: 11 weeks at #1 for God's Plan, 8 weeks at #1 for Nice for What and 11 weeks at #1 for In My Feelings. The records then would be: Drake: 30 weeks. Usher: 28 weeks. The Black Eyed Peas: 26 weeks.

Yeah these were long eras, though of course aided by being in the Soundscan era and also other things (Perry with a re-release and Shania with crossover promotion). Michael Jackson's Bad had singles charting for over 2 years, and that was pre-Soundscan. Another impressive era from that time is Paula Abdul's Forever Your Girl. Those eras then are the equivalent of like 3+ years now.

With the Pop Songs ascension of Khalid, the heavy rotation of Post Malone & Drake and the general popularity of songs by Juice WRLD, XXXTENTACION, it's been obvious for awhile we are in some sort of newish Hip Hop era. The downbeat melodies are also crossing over into mainstream songs by Bazzi, NF, G-Eazy and others.
What is this style called? I've heard "The Soundcloud Sound" or "Mumble Rap" but I can't believe that's official, and it doesn't cover all this other stuff.

There are of course lots of counter-examples but mostly album eras were longer before the digital era where only one song was released at a time
With streaming being so dominant now and we frequently get 10-20 songs charting at the same time, that may shorten it's longevity
