Hi! I'm new to the country forum, but I've wandered around the pop and AC forums for years. As such, I don't really know much about country aside from the fact that the pop chart acted like the country chart last fall, when for two straight months, every week seemed to have a different number one. Other than that, I know nothing, and yet I hear terms like "power up", "Max Spins", "top 10 conversion", etc. thrown around constantly. What do these terms mean?

I’m certainly not the chart expert around here, but power up/max spins is essentially when a label pushes a song harder for the #1 spot and I guess puts more resources into it? When a song reaches a point where it could realistically challenge for the top ads will be put out saying max spins or power up.
Top 10 conversions just means radio will take a song in the usually 11-15ish range into their top 10 most spinned getting it top 10 on the airplay chart.
Hope this answers your questions. :)

What would the country chart look like if it wasn’t as label driven as it is?
