Wow. I wasn't expecting numbers that good for Carrie. Good for her!
Her other albums' first week sales:
Storyteller (2015) - 177,000 (#2) Blown Away (2012) - 267,000 (#1) Play On (2009) - 318,000 (#1) Carnival Ride (2007) - 527,000 (#1) Some Hearts (2005) - 315,000 (#2)

Carrie's numbers are really good... Was predicting around 200k-225, so I'm almost on point! Considering she's a pretty solid touring artist, doing the 'ticket bundle' thing was a great strategy to pull big opening numbers.

Thought it would be more tbh; I was expecting Pink-like numbers. But the numbers are amazing regardless.

Wow that's a great number for Carrie considering Storyteller opened with 177k SPS. Even with the ticket bundle considered, Carrie opening around 200k SPS when the lead single was an underperformer ("Cry Pretty" was the lowest-peaking single of hers to date on the country charts; "Inside Your Heaven" doesn't count) is great imo.

Great for Carrie, her fire hasn't faded all that much at all. Can't wait to see some projections for Thrice.

Giant flop for Tori Kelly but we all knew she was a fad after even all the awards show hustling couldn't give her proper hits.

Giant flop for Tori Kelly but we all knew she was a fad after even all the awards show hustling couldn't give her proper hits. You have to have some success to be a fad. Tori is a Scooter Braun product that never caught on, like that Who is Fancy thing he tried to pull off.

Who's the last high profile veteran artist to sell well and NOT have a tour bundle? Seems like the absolute norm in today's world, if you want any kind of decent numbers. Hell, Billboard even includes redemptions in "traditional sales".

That's a very good number from Carrie. Without the bundle, it'd be in line with what you would expect the decline from the previous project to this to be.

Not much interest in the Frank Sinatra tribute from Willie Nelson. Was expecting higher numbers.

That pure sales number compared to SPS suggests a large collapse the week after.

From #2 in 2015 to top 20-30 in 2018 is not really "amazing" in Tori's case.

No hits and a genre switch is understandable why Tori's numbers are low.

Isn't Tori's lastest album a Gospel/Christian album? Not sure why people are so surprised by it's sales?..
It's a stretch but it would be great if Carrie could crack 250k with the Kimmel and Ellen performances coming.

It's a stretch but it would be great if Carrie could crack 250k with the Kimmel and Ellen performances coming. Look at last week with Lauren Daigle to see why that isn't an excuse. Lindsey Stirling also falls under a niche genre with her classical mixed with dance and she can usually still sell enough to put her Top 10.

Lindsey Stirling also falls under a niche genre with her classical mixed with dance and she can usually still sell enough to put her Top 10. Lauren also had a massive hit to support her album. Tori's lead came out only a couple weeks ago and it doesn't look like it's been sent to any formats at radio. That's a very valid explanation.
