That's the difference in genres. Hip Hop and R&B albums are mostly streams and close to nothing in physical sales while other genres like Country and Alternative Rock are mostly physical sales with almost nonexistent streams. True, but with the prevalence of streaming and the declining of physical albums, you would think that two MAJOR airplay/streaming artists would beat physical sales. I mean, sure, Carrie had her ticket bundle. But so did Jason Aldean (who sells out stadiums), and he didn't hit this high of a number. Carrie's numbers are outstanding, as are Ariana's and Cardi's. I just wasn't expecting it to be this...outstanding. Aldean's album has gone on to sell over 375,000 copies and probably will soon be on its way to 400,000. And the fact he's a constant hitmaker helps. Underwood will not be in this position and her sales will utterly collapse next week.

Too soon to tell what Carrie does, but I can tell your heart is in the...right...place

I don’t think any female country stars have used a ticket bundle before this, so I think two of the best comparisons are Jason Aldean, Keith Urban and Dierks Bentley:
Rearview Town by Aldean: 1st week - 162,000 pure sales 2nd week - 24,000 pure sales That’s a 85% drop.
Graffiti U by Urban: 1st week - 137,000 pure sales 2nd week - 17,000 pure sales 88% drop.
The Mountain by Dierks: 1st week - 94,000 pure sales 2nd week - 13,000 pure sales 86% drop.
A few older examples are Zac Brown Band and Shania:
Welcome Home by Zac Brown Band: 1st week - 139,000 pure sales 2nd week - 23,000 pure sales 83% drop.
Now by Shania: 1st week - 134,000 pure sales 2nd week - 14,000 pure sales 90% drop.
So I would expect Carrie to have an 80-85 percent drop, which would lead to 2nd week sales around 35-50k.

The ticket/album promotion has become very common. Obviously, the bigger a touring act is, the better result. And if executed at its maximum, or close to it, potential - meaning, a substantial number of dates put on sale prior to the album release - the results can be smashing.
It's just another way to get album. If anything is surprising, it's that not all ticket buyers redeem copies of the album, given that the price is worked into the cost of the ticket.
There's a good chance that Cher may see her first No. 1 seller, and also on the multi-metric chart, with her new album, as long as redemptions are reported for the first week.

I'm hoping Star is Born soundtrack will be a big seller ala Greatest Showman during the holidays

^I don't think it will. Showman was full of audience friendly showtunes.
A Star Is Born will be full of country/rock sad songs about a dying singer.
