The main topic this week seems to be GLY vs. IMF. Who do you guys see coming out on top?

Interesting (albeit unfortunate) fact:
If Ella Mai's "Trip" ascends to the top ten of the Hot 100, she'll become the SECOND Black Female soloist overall to achieve two top 10 singles in a calendar year, as a LEAD artist, after Rihanna this entire decade thus far.
[Excluding Black Female Hip-Hop acts ala. Nicki Minaj/Cardi B].
She'll also be the first Black Female R&B-based artist to score two (or more) heavy Urban/R&B-centric top 10 songs on the Hot 100 since the 2000's.
This isn't necessarily a "record" by any means but it just goes to show how poorly R&B/Soul has performed on the charts throughout this decade, compared to its mighty omnipresence last decade, and especially among Black Female R&B artists.
The last time a Black Female artist had a number-one song on Adult-R&B radio (UAC) that had also peaked in the top five of the Hot 100 was ELEVEN years ago with No One: Alicia Keys. Mai finally broke that mold with "Boo'd Up".
Beyoncé hasn't come close to achieving the former since '4' and Rihanna has NEVER truly been a staple on UAC radio.

Kanye possibly dropping a new album as a follow-up to 2013’s “Yeezus”, entitled “YANDI” on September 29th.

It doesn't make any sense to do so since black women are more likely to be in the realm of hip-hop since it is a black dominated genre.

It doesn't make any sense to do so since black women are more likely to be in the realm of hip-hop since it is a black dominated genre. Seriously? Are you slow... 'R&B' is also a "Black-dominated" genre. This decade thus far, Black R&B artists (particularly Female artists and those of whom are, I repeat, "non Hip-Hop acts") have had an extremely difficult time crossing over onto the upper realms of the Hot 100 compared to those whose careers peaked in the 2000's. R&B-dominant Female artists/singers such as Ashanti, Keyshia Cole, Monica, Brandy, Kelis, Tamia, Mary J Blige, Janet Jackson, Mariah Carey, Alicia Keys, Erykah Badu, Tweet, Amerie, Ciara etc. all scored top ten hits on the Hot 100 as lead artists during the 2000's, some of whom even scored number-one hits, alongside Hip-Hop dominant Female artists such as Eve, Missy Elliot, Lil' Kim etc. So, for Ella Mai to be only the SECOND Black Female artist/singer after Rihanna in the 2010's thus far to achieve two top ten singles on the Hot 100 in a calendar year, excluding Hip-Hop acts - Nicki Minaj/Cardi B, is CERTAINLY worth noting. Nicki Minaj and Cardi B are rappers. If Beyoncé or Rihanna released a full-blown rap song that reached the top ten of the Hot 100, it wouldn't suddenly make either of them the 'third' Black Female rapper to achieve such this decade as they're singers by trade, first and foremost. Also, this is why I highlighted Ella Mai being the first R&B artist since Alicia Keys circa. 2007 with 'No One' to have a number one song on Adult-R&B radio (UAC) also peak within the top ten/five on the Hot 100. It's an extremely rare feat. in today's industry.

Still not huge in any aspects, hopefully there will be something that puts it over the edge.

I'm kinda stunned right now. How did electricity chart so low??? Simon predicted top 50!! And can the top 10 get exciting any time soon?

I'm kinda stunned right now. How did electricity chart so low??? Simon predicted top 50!! And can the top 10 get exciting any time soon? Well, some of the well-known hit songs started from the bottom (No Drake pun intended), but who knows, Electricity may slowly but surely rise to the top. So patience is the key here. The Top 10 can be interesting once they kick out the hip-hop songs most doesn't care much and put in the songs that deserve a placement in the Top 10 like Youngblood, I'm A Mess, Breathin', Eastside, etc.

You're right, it's been steadily growing in everything for months now, hoping for some Good pop call outs for the song to finally take off. Anyone knows what caused Meant To Be to take off so much?

When I say this, I mean no disrespect. Billboard hot 100 has been extremely boring these past 2 years. 2017 had unstoppable songs like "Shape of you" and "Despacito". This year has unstoppable songs like "Gods plan", "Girls like you", "I like it", and "In my feelings". These past few months have basically been the same top 3. It just isn't fun to predict anymore if 3 songs are hogging the top 3.

Meant To Be blew up because it had ridiculously high airplay (for 2018 at least), one of the best music videos of all time and because Florida Georgie Line are hugely popular.

Just looking at the Hot R&B / Hip-Hop Songs chart is crazy these years. With streaming's dominance and Hip-Hop's stranglehold on that metric, there is next to nothing except HH based (primarily male) rap cuts. This is America's premier R&B charts and it showcases almost no diversity.
I recall well when the charts had hard hitting rap acts side by side with the Commodores, Luther Vandrosses, Steveie Wonders or even SWVs of the day. No more.

GLY (8 weeks at #1) has a chance to tie/break the record for most weeks at #1 on the Radio Songs chart this decade (12 weeks - WFL, UF and SOY). Peak (audience impressions - Nielsen/Billboard): UF - 189.8M SOY - 185.0M WFL - 152.0M GLY - 127.9M

15 hours and this thread is already one big mess. For instance those Kanye news have no relation to this week's chart and actually not next week's either if there's no single(in addition to I Love It) in advance (assuming that 29th is still valid, it might drop in 2 minutes or never)

I'm hoping I'm a Mess re-enters the top 40 next week thanks to the Big Brother sales boost. I'm also cheering for Broken and Beautiful to do the same.
