She never had a 50k week on the Hot 100 (Bodak Yellow peaked with 45k points) but is coming for her third #1. Wait so you’re saying GLY currently has the edge for #1? 🤔 Well, at least in my early prediction... pulsemusic.proboards.com/post/6734172/thread

Not surprised. I knew I love it was gonna be competition for #1. Girls like you and IMF are falling and I love it is gaining. All it needs is pop radio to pick it up and it is a guaranteed #1 in the next few weeks.

Maroon 5's label could have so easily gotten a #1 with a discount last week or this week. It's weird to me they aren't doing it.

It's official guys! Never thought the day would come but I'm officially a grumpy old man who hates almost everything in the current mainstream music scene! I look through the current chart and predictions for next week and I'm both genuinely disgusted to the point of feeling nauseous and disturbed that these are the songs and artists that people are listening to and enjoying these days. I felt that my supposedly super progressive music taste would shift with the times forever but apparently that ain't happening.

In other news, French Montana and Drake's new single, "No Stylist," drops this Friday. Wasn’t it supposed to drop last friday and the one before that? Yeah, but French Montana posted on his Instagram that it drops this week.

A discount would have probably gotten things to that point, though.

A discount would have probably gotten things to that point, though. Yeah, I guess you're right. I also said the same thing earlier - that they weren't strategic with their timing with the discount and they should have never taken it off once they put it on. The song could have easily been spending a third week at #1 by now. But I believe IMF is done. It's done what it's meant to do and Drake's got a couple of songs dropping in the following weeks that'll suck more air out of it. I'd be legit shocked if it's still the #1 song by Monday.

With Girls Like You & In My Feelings losing steam it seems that I Love It could be a serious #1 contender especially if it’s on YHANDI

With all this talk of him breaking the record for most weeks #1 on Hot 100 in a year.
Amount of weeks Drake has spent #1 each year on the R&B/Hip-Hop Chart:
2009 - 8 2010 - 2 2011 - 22 2012 - 10 2013 - 5 2014 - 1 2015 - 7 2016 - 34 2017 - 0 2018 - 29 = 118 weeks #1 the past decade. Drake has been #1 1/4 of the time since he's debutd.

Also, about the rare-female/r&b top 10 discussion: this actually doesn't seem to be gender-specific; all r&b artists, whether male, female, solo, group, etc., don't seem to be pulling multiple smash top tens on the Hot 100 this decade. There's much talk of Ella Mai pulling a second top 10 this year, but she hasn't even done it yet, it would be "if" Trip does it, and that's by no means guaranteed. In fact, other than her and the aforementioned Rihanna (I know she's sort of an R&B/dance pop/dancehall, etc. hybrid artist, so many might not count her, I would though), I can only think of one other R&B artist off the top of my head that I know for sure pulled two top 10's in a year: Usher back in 2010 with OMG and DJ Got Us Fallin in Love (though the latter was more a dance song, so that might not even count). Has Chris Brown done it this decade?

Has Chris Brown done it this decade? Chris Brown Top 10s in the 2010s: 2011 - Look At Me Now (#6) 2012 - Turn Up the Music (#10), Don't Wake Me Up (#10) 2013 - Loyal (#9) 2018 - Freaky Friday (#8, featured appearance) So he's had quite a bit of success and had two Top 10s in 2012.

Well, seems like they've got the #1 in the bag this Monday, so it's a win-win either way. This. Why lose money if they will get it because imf is declining much faster. Sales and streaming tracking period ends soon and maroon has a 4K lead in sales and radio hasn’t changed that much keeping a 55m gap between it and IMF...streams for IMF have declined at a faster rate so... Killshot released on iTunes and Apple Music Maybe a #1...after maroon Inter scope is smart to hold off on killshits release as em and maroon are both in the label.
