Lately, I feel like I am bombarded with Rihanna songs at the bar.
On Saturday night i heard remixes of "Shut Up And Drive", "Umbrella", "Breaking Dishes" and then "Don't Stop the Music" was played twice within 2 hours at the same bar. This is getting crazy, last night i was out for two hours and i heard "Breaking Dishes,""Umbrella" and "Dont Stop the Music" at another bar.
Is RiRi on her way to Dancefloor diva status?
This is my recollection of what shes placed
"Pon The Club Play" Norty Cotto "SOS" Cox, Nevins "Unfaithful" Moran "We Ride" Mantronix and others
plus a ton of tracks from the new Cd. Anyone else having experiences with Rihanna overkill at the bars? How many Rihanna tracks can they play at a bar in a night before its overkill? How many weeks is "Don't Stop The Music" going to spend at number one on Billboard Club Play? Im going with at least 2-3 weeks for that one. That song is mammoth right now.
Shes starting to get the club diva status like Madge, Mimi and Whitney.
Enough RIRI or more RIRI?

I bought the import special edition of her CD (I think it was import only) that had the bonus disc of remixes. I love them! I don't know how I'd feel about more than 2 or so being played at a bar while I was there but I wish more artists would release remix bonus discs. I wonder if her songs will get additional remixes when they are ultimately released as singles. I say bring em on!

I was out last wweekend and heard SUAD and Umbrella within an hour of each other, but I didn't mind since they were different songs with different mixes...it's kinda like when a club does a Madonnathon...just with less songs :)

I never really cared for Rihanna that much with her first album. It took me a very long time to get into the song "Pon De Replay." After Norty Cotto's remix came out, I began to like her more. From the second album and after that, I have liked her a lot more. She has improved and grown.
Rihanna's uptempo stuff just works really well on the dancefloor remixed (and in some cases just the original version).
I think it's a tad early to label Rihanna a "Dancefloor Diva" as she has had only a handful of hits. She is everywhere right now and it's hard to go someplace without hearing her, the clubs included.
It's nice to see mainstream artists having a club presence on a regular basis. Countless other artists have too in the past. But I think Rihanna's presence is no different than any other artist overall. It just happens to be a lot more right now.

And just to state this she is working with the right remixers so far. I think the label is really into her having a gay fan base so they are servicing a lot of dance remixes.

I think the answer lies with audience response. If the crowd blew up every time one of those songs was played, of course the DJ will keep spinning her stuff. As a DJ, believe me when the crowd is tired of a track and starts leaving the floor when it's spun, it will get dropped from the playlist. As for DSTM being played twice in the same night...I agree that might be a bit overkill...even for a tremendously hot song like that right now.

Rihanna obviously supports the dance community (how many artists commission an entire bonus disc of remixes?) so I agree she is earning diva status, not to mention quite a nice collection of Club Play #1's !!!

"Breaking Dishes" is going to miss number one breaking her huge streak of number one tracks.
Anyone think "Don't Stop the Music" will climb the charts a little bit now that its the radio single?
Its still a staple track in most dj's playlists around detroit.

p.s. i think riri is way overexposed in the clubs right now with quantity far outweighing quality I understand the quantity aspect, but as far as quality, I think she's soooo hottt right now. Like Rihanna can do no wrong. She could come out with a country song and people would follow her. She's unstoppable, but for the simple reason that she IS a diva! Kind of amazing how quickly she has become one though... I have yet to dislike a song of hers, except Umbrella was obnoxious the first handful of times I heard it. She's fun, all over the place from a Reggaeton/Hip Hop sound with Pon De Replay, genuine dance with DSTM, and relaxed R&B with HTILY... she has something for everyone, and I won't complain about her.

i cant imagine it would rechart. give me an example of this happening before! I recall Mousse T. vs. Hot N' Juicy's "Horny '98" charted in the Summer of '98 when it was an import and then it recharted towards either the end of that year or early the next year when the song was released domestically as part of that South Park CD. Another one I remember is Darude's "Sandstorm." It charted in 2000 and then again in 2001 when additional mixes came out.

Im pretty sure if new remixes were pressed such as the Peter Rauhoffer remix, it could possibly move up the chart again. I would only think it would re-enter and linger in the top 30-40 portion of the chart. I can imagine it going much further.
I definitely am happy that mainstream radio is embracing DSTM.
Maybe Rehab will get some hot remixes soon!

I think she said she wanna be an icon like Madonna?
So far, all of my friends love her because she delivered quality mixes.

They already re-pressed and re-released her album. They love doing that these days. If you didn't like the first edition, there's usually a 2nd one waiting! LOL

oh wait didnt "destination unknown" just like go number 1 on the uk charts? i guess that's the BEST example of a song recharting The original "Destination Unknown" was never released in the UK. Therefore, it never "recharted".

Agree, Yay for DSTM, disagree the others are not crapola, and yes, MJ has this one & Kanye West's Good Life (PYT) on the charts this year.
