How Rihanna was able to transition into the Streaming era, 13 years into her career, is phenomenal. She DOMINATED the Digital era commercially, especially Worldwide, and now is the biggest Streaming act among Females, and on a service overall that has been largely skewed towards Hip-Hop and Dance/EDM acts the last several years mostly. I had no idea she was the first artist to hit 1B streams in 2013. The Queen of the Streaming era. As for Drake... The King of the Streaming era. thegreatdivineamore ... Eminem slaying after 20+ years also!

Drake, the hip-hop star and sometime actor who was named the top recording artist on the planet for 2016, can add Spotify’s all-time streaming honor to his resume.
In celebration of its 10th anniversary, the music streaming giant has crunched the numbers on the most-popular artists and songs on its platform. In a surprise to noone, Drizzy comes out on top as its most-streamed artist of all time, ahead of Ed Sheeran, Eminem, The Weeknd and Rihanna, while Sheeran and Rihanna bag titles of their own.
The Canadian artist already holds the record for the largest single-week ever for an album in the United States, with Scorpion, which bowed with 745.9 million on-demand audio streams for its tracks earlier this year. And early last year, the Toronto native was crowned the IFPI Global Recording Artist of 2016, an honor which recognizes the top artist across physical sales, downloads and streaming.
Sheeran and Drake trade places on Spotify's list for most-streamed songs of all time, with the British singer-songwriter’s hit “Shape Of You” topping the survey ahead of Drake’s “One Dance” and The Chainsmokers’ “Closer” featuring Halsey. Another Sheeran track makes the list, “Thinking Out Loud” coming in at No. 5.
There’s another prize for Sheeran in the category of most-streamed album of all time, his 2017 blockbuster Divide ruling as Spotify’s most-streamed albums globally, ahead of Justin Bieber’s Purpose and Drake’s Views. Meanwhile, Rihanna is the undisputed Queen of Spotify, leading the list of most-streamed female artists globally ahead of Ariana Grande, Sia, Beyoncé and Nicki Minaj.
And in an update on its user base, Spotify now claims 180 million monthly active listeners across the 65 territories where it operates. That’s up from an active user base of about 140 million, as at June, though the tech giant didn’t share new figures on its paid users.
Since opening for business in October 2008, Daniel Ek’s on-demand brand has paid over €10 billion ($11.5 billion) to rights holders, and currently boasts a licensed library of more than 10 million songs and upwards of 3 billion user-created playlists. The company debuted on the New York Stock Exchange in April of this year via an unconventional “direct listing”.

Eminem slaying after 20+ years also! I think me and you have discussed how incredible it was for her to become one of the most potent artists in the streaming era early on after being a complete force in the digital era. Imagine if she dropped her 2008-2012 albums from 2014-2018. She'd probably be the most streamed artist of all time on Spotify behind Drake. That's incredible. She had been streamed over a billion times by 2013, something even Drake didn't achieved till 2014. Just amazing. Drake on the other hand is something else. His last three projects have all been streamed over 3 billion times on Spotify each. Most streamed artist of all time on the platform and don't even get me started on Apple Music, where his real strength is: on there, he was the most streamed artist of 2015, 2016, 2017 and will be the most streamed artist for 2018. Had the most streamed albums for all those years, was the first artist to have an album cross a billion streams on the platform and was the first artist to cross 10 billion streams on the platform. Madness. Impressed by all the names on these lists.

Shocked that Bieber is only the 8th most streamed artist. He has 3 of the top 10 most streamed songs ever and the second-most streamed album.
