I apologise for the big image, but I certainly think this has #1 potential; especially from the snippets I've heard Please no.

Well, Cardiβs Money seems to be doing pretty well. #3 on Apple Music, #2 on iTunes and expected to be near or on top 10 of Spotify US. I think sheβll debut this week.

The Hip-Hop equivalent to them would be like Ludacris. The fact he has 17 top 10s (more than names like Adele, Gaga, and Katy!) but was never ever really a fascination or had any cultural presence. ...and 7/17 are his songs. -They have huge hits (Sugar, This Love, Moves Like Jagger, She Will Be Loved, Girls Like You, Payphone)...and this is the only thing that matters. I don't really care about Drake's relationships, Taylor's stalkers or something else. Maroon 5 makes music and they are successful for 16 years now.

But with her dropping it Tuesday, doesn't that give her a big chance now? She has 3 extra days + YouTube audio + +2 on iTunes + whatever airplay shes receiving ?

So, Drake is the Maroon 5 of rap right? They lack absolutely any cultural presence to be compared to Drake. He's always in headlines, generating publicity, setting records, etc. Who ever talks about Maroon 5? Like when do they ever make pop culture news lol. The Hip-Hop equivalent to them would be like Ludacris. The fact he has 17 top 10s (more than names like Adele, Gaga, and Katy!) but was never ever really a fascination or had any cultural presence.Β Likewise, I'd link the Pop equivalent of Drake to perhaps Taylor Swift. Always generating headlines/publicity, setting records, careers constantly reaching new heights, and they have a bunch of chart hits & success spurred by their die-hard fanbase, and they do get a lot of flack for their music 'being too teen and immature' at times I guess.Β Luda was definitely a part of the culture at one point. He helped originate Southern Hip Hop and had a few Southern hip hop classics.

I don't really care about Drake's relationships, Taylor's stalkers or something else. Maroon 5 makes music and they are successful at that for 16 years now. Ludacris has 16 top 10s on the R&B/Hip-Hop chart as lead artist though, so yeah, the comparison still sticks. He's very similar to Maroon 5 in the Hip-Hop world and vice versa. Lots of hits, but lacking cultural presence, huge fascination, and their albums perform average at best. And even if you don't care about cultural presence, there is no denying it is tied to a huge legacy. The Beatles, Madonna, MJ, and Elvis didn't just become huge legends due to hits. There was an enormous cultural presence and fascination left behind. Not saying Drake will have a legacy on that level or such, but his name carries a much bigger weight in pop culture than Maroon 5's name does. I would also go to say he's much more successful in America at this point, but that'll probably start another discussion.

I want some of what you're having if you think Adam Levine doesn't have any cultural relevancy or presence. And Maroon 5 are literally performing at the Super Bowl next year.

It's basic and has nothing going for it. At least songs like God's Plan and Perfect had something going for them and their success was understandable. I don't like either song but I know why people like them. Me personally, I don't see the appeal. It seems fake. The song sounds like an AI made it. Hatsune Miku sounds more realistic as a singer than Levine and Cardi on GLY. It's bland with no reason to be bland, it's just bland without purpose. Who was this song written for? What's it even about? I mean, if a song is gonna top the radio charts for 7 million years, can it at least be good? tea

I don't get why everyone needs to one-up or compare their fave against another's fave. Drake, Maroon 5, and Ed Sheeran have all impacted music their own ways and have had different forms of success. Tbh, all three of them have had songs that overstayed their welcome at #1, but there is obviously a market that is still consuming it. I swear some of y'all are worse than pop diva stans...

They lack absolutely any cultural presence to be compared to Drake. He's always in headlines, generating publicity, setting records, etc. Who ever talks about Maroon 5? Like when do they ever make pop culture news lol. . They literally just set a record this week. What is there to talk about Drake? Before 2018, I knew absolutely nothing about his personal life. Even now, all I know is that he has a son with a french porn star and likes befriending little girls. A 'record' of 'song with most weeks #1 on radio by a band' (a reach in itself). A record also determined by a group of 10 radio programmers & label promotion. You're really suggesting that compares to things such as getting 750 million streams for an album in 1 country in 1 week, or 115 million streams for a song in 1 country in 1 week. Records that actually show huge cultural presence with the public. And lol, it's hilarious you downplayed him by saying 'I knew nothing about him before 2018' when you proceeded to tell me less than 24 hours ago talking about my personal experience is not a general consensus. you can't base anything on your own circles. Maroon 5 have hits, but they just don't generate huge public fascination. They could drop an album right now and it would struggle to do 100k. Just as their current album did 122K with bundles first week, during Q4. They've actually always had pretty average album performance since their sophomore album. Apple Music & Spotify literally beg at their feet for Drake to give them exclusives. He has a complete grip on the current culture. Maroon 5 don't, and have never had any similar grip. Hence the lead singer being a judge on The Voice during the prime of their career.

I wasnβt stating that no one talks about Drake. I asking a question, which you havenβt answered. Weβre not talking about his streams. You said Drake is interesting and that people talk about him. His personal life. Before 2018, what has he done that people talked about? When did I say people talk about his personal life though? You seemingly made that up. I said he generates publicity/headlines. Like him dropping a surprise release in 2015, and doing 535k in 3 days. A number no Maroon 5 album has opened with, even in a full week, with huge lead singles. It was a big spectacle, hence the big numbers. Views doing 1 million first week. Having 2 consecutive songs debut #1. Better yet, having the entire music industry cover his album release weeks (reactions/reviews, first-week records, potential disses in lyrics, gossip/rumors in lyrics, etc). You don't open with enormous numbers unless you generate big publicity/headlines, which is why I'm bringing up his numbers. There are people who command attention and headlines when they drop music, and those who don't. Drake is the former, and Maroon 5 is the latter. They are really dependent on whether radio will spam them.

I think, if SICKO MODE is going #1, SICKO MODE is gonna have the biggest jump to #1 since Black Beatles, beating IMF Nah, SAD! and Look What You Made Me Do had much bigger jumps. I mean by pre-existing songs that werenβt released on bad days or reached a obvious peak already

I have never seen more pointless discussion than Drake vs Maroon 5, it's not even a question of one blocking other from getting a #1 song or anything.

Itβs what happens when Drakeβs music is this dominant. Can you say dull? I can now. I just heard the new Drake single. It was played after a Maroon 5 hit. I didnβt realize they were different songs because while they didnβt sound the same, they were both equal levels of ZZZZZZZZZZZZ

It is official. Cardi B is a huge force on the charts now. The fact that Money will most likely reach top 10 is amazing. I guarantee her next album cycle will be successful.

The Drake vs Maroon 5 argument huh.
Both are very successful and make songs that are popular with a lot of people. End of discussion.
