Adele: Yes Rihanna: Depends Ed Sheeran: Said his next album won't be radio friendly Drake: Overexposed JB: See "No Brainer" TS: Yes Beyonce: No Perfect was not pop at least to my ears but it still went no.1 on pop. I'm struggling to find where I said perfect was pop.

How is Perfect not pop? Pop is a pretty broad umbrella that would include love ballads, would it not?

"Pop" is short for "popular" - What "pop" is has been known to change over time as well

APESH*T couldn’t even get top 10, so a #1 debut for Beyonce is not guaranteed, unless the song r e a l l y catches on

#1 debuts are not guaranteed for anyone. Yeah. No one would have predicted Ari would debut at #1 a few weeks ago.

#1 debuts are not guaranteed for anyone. I have a feeling a lead single from Adele is almost a guarantee tho. People count down the days to when they can listen to new music from her.

The market has changes since the last Adele song - so maybe, maybe not.

Ariana is #1, Girls Like You with a female rap guest star was #1 before that. Before that, all rap
According to reports, another year anyway for an Adele album

Halsey is doing well on streaming, plus Ariana is doing well pushing three singles in some way.

The market has changes since the last Adele song - so maybe, maybe not. Her last song 1.1 million first week, 400k+ more than the next highest song digitally ever. I’m really not worried, even with massive drops

Bohemian Rhapsody is still gaining on Spotify despite losing on iTunes
I see this sticking around for at least another week or two

The market was also different between 21 and 25 tho and look how that went Time between albums The emergence of streaming The dominance of hip hop The gap between Set Fire To The Rain, the last big song from 21 and Hello was 3 and a half years. And we literally just had 8 weeks of a pop song being number one, a pop star can still get number one nowadays, they just need some semblance of streaming whether it be YouTube or spotify.

Before we get off track - let's remember the original topic. Adele releases a single and it is guaranteed to not just hit #1 but debut there. I say, nothing is guaranteed for anyone. Not Adele-bashing here, could be any artist, just stating what I think.
