They dropped all acts associated with their management company. They have been rolled up through RCA UK.

Very awkward timing with LM5 coming out in just a week, but reading between the lines I get the feeling that a) LM's management has been a thorn in Simon's side more than once and this situation was the straw that broke the camel's back; and b) Simon really doesn't have much sympathy or understanding for singers who want even a smidge of artistic credit or control. This whole incident happened b/c the girls wanted songwriting credits - not even royalties, just their names in the liner notes. Of course, we have no way of knowing if that desire was warranted, but even so, what a petty thing to drop a group over right before a big album release.
Little Mix lucks out somewhat b/c they've always been jointly released by Syco and Columbia UK, so they weren't going to be without a label home regardless. But I'm curious about how this will affect LM5's longterm budget and promo, since Syco handed off its part of release duties to RCA UK and I'm pretty sure RCA UK wasn't just sitting around with money to blow on an unscheduled (for them) Q4 release.

IDK if the writing credits were actually warranted, but if they really fought so hard for it to this point, it all must be true. It is incredibly awkward when something like this happens especially with an album release just a week away (I was like, "Nooooooooooo! We're not going to get "Wasabi"!) but it does seem odd that this would happen now. There really is no good time to drop an act, but so close to the album release makes you wonder what really happened behind the scenes.

Should've listened to Fifth Harmony Syco pulled the same stunt when they wanted more creative freedom on their last album. Syco/Epic retaliated by giving them damn near zero promotional budget and everything was left in the hands of their own separate team at Maverick.

I'm tired.

I'm tired. Syco tried to stick Leona Lewis into another deal on the basis that she does a covers album first to try and switch her direction. She refused and left the label after that because they refused to fund another "original" album from her. Some real shady sh!t going on over there.

Agreed. Nothing Simon says about this makes any sense at all. If anything, I have even more questions.

Regardless of the reason, that's a bizarre move. They're a massive act for Syco!
