Rich was probably the worst song off Maren's album. I like her (especially evidenced by my Dear Hate ranking), but she has much better songs.
Shoot Me Straight was great, reasonable placement for it.
Criminal was much better than Champagne.
Everything in the top 10 is in my top 40 so all is well. I overranked my #9.

At #4, we have the 5th #1 contender!!! After "Long Way Down" vacated the penthouse, #4 was #1 for maybe the first 1/3 of the submission process, before "Butterflies" hunted it down, kicked it in the shins, and left it bleeding in the bushes. Fortunately it made a speedy recovery and was still able to stand back up and finish at #4 in the race!
(None of this race metaphor was a hint, btw. I'm just being grandiose, as per use. Ush. Usgjh. However the fuck you would spell it.)

"Mercy" is GORGEOUS and I generally dislike Brett Young. This song is a beautiful country masterpiece.
Ugh, "High Horse" for the WIN please! The other two are BAD and clearly overrted.

The final Kacey song bows out at #3 with "High Horse". Lmao the Kacey results in this rankdown were so weird to watch... "Butterflies" was basically always her top song, and really her only song to make a serious bid for #1, and yet y'all always talked like it was your least favorite of her songs  Meanwhile, "High Horse" floated around the #15 range for basically the entire submission process, only to get a sudden burst of agility with the last dozen lists or so. It did not end up being as well-loved as "Space Cowboy" with the amount of #1 ranks, but still managed to beat that one and become her highest song. It's also my least favorite of her songs in this RD, so there's that I literally put TWO of her songs in my top 25, and y'all couldn't even keep them in the top 5, but this somehow makes it? Rankdowns are so weird sometimes. Lol |

So here it is! The top 2 that I literally would have never predicted in a million years going into this thing!!! Dierks Bentley/Brothers Osborne, versus Dan + Shay. How this happened, I have no idea! But the #2 has 1017 points, and the winner trounced it with only 985. Meanwhile, Kacey finished at #3 with 1045 points. So it really wasn't a super close race at all! It's not like Kacey was so close to winning that just one more of her stans could have helped her get there. Like I've said, it was really interesting to watch all this happening behind-the-scenes! |

I figured all 4 Kacey records would make the top-10 yet none of them win (because Pulse). I didn’t expect a top-2 finish for either Tequila or Daddy Dierks (although both in my top-10)! This is a pleasantly surprising finale but I expect the predictable win between the two.
