I probably shoukd have swapped my ranking for both Cassadee songs, One More Red Light is becoming more annoying after each listen but Take You Home doesn't as the chorus melody sounds a bit better. That being said it is still a very vanilla song. Wait bboat11 you didn't bold my perfect ranking on This Is It :sip2: ! I agree with what Phil said in the song thread that this song sounds too much like Five More Minutes and the run to the high note in chorus is just odd to me. Also that's a lot of 53s. Kane Brown sounds so grating on Lose It, especially during chorus. The desperate attempt of Danielle Bradbery in getting a hit but eventually failed just showed she won't be a superstar. At least that version sounds more country (pop) than album version.

Jesus Christ MY ENTIRE TOP TEN!?!? This went to shit fast! I goddamn LOVE “Lose It” and Kane Brown in general. He has that dark, more rock based sound that I love in country. Eli Young Band will always be high for me, love them.

Wait bboat11 you didn't bold my perfect ranking on This Is It ! Lmao I've forgotten to do that for literally more than half of the reveals now, so I can't make any promises as to whether I continue to try to remember or just let it go completely

Love Ain't is just like some other braggadocious songs in mainstream music. This and everything else like vocal and melody are bland and predictive af is a no from me.

The next song barely edged its way into the top 50, beating Eli Young Band by ONE point!!!

He never said you were doing anything bad tho... I felt like it was implied that I was getting on his nerves and he was annoyed. I know, I know I'm reading way too much into it. But that's how my mind works, I overthink so much in life. Me, annoyed? Oh no, we weren't there yet. But I can see you in this thread (as can everyone else) and tbh if you're that put out by the results then ask to be untagged and IDK... peace out of the thread? You don't have to stick around if you don't want to.

Well I have a file named Tenille Arts - I Don't Hate This (I just assumed bboat hated the song and was making a joke with "I Hate This") It was sung by a male and was terrible hick-hop country, why I ranked it so low!
Down to the Honkytonk has grown on me a ton even from sending in this rankdown. I thought something was wrong with my file, I thought "Jake Owens voice is so much deeper than this!" And then I realized I've been thinking of Josh Turner lol
Sad for Make A Little, I never got into it until the week it died at radio and it became such a fun little song to listen to. Also sad for Night Shift and Still the Same. :'(

I was hoping "Goodbye Summer" would get her another top 20 hit and possibly her first top 10 hit (Did she hit top 10 on MB with "The Heart of Dixie"? I know she peaked at #12 on BB and missed out), I thought the addition of Thomas Rhett would help. It got off to a fairly good start and then it just somehow hit a brick wall and stalled. This deserved better on the charts.

I remember desperately hoping it would make the top 10 like Cassadee’s “Wasting All These Tears” did as it teetered around that region. Then the bullet shrank.... and started freefalling :(

Just because it’s Taylor Swift it doesn’t mean it’s an automatic top 10 for me. However I’ll still rank her songs high.
“New Year’s Day” plods along and goes nowhere, but it’s really refreshing to hear in the context of reputation, and this song is just classic Taylor in terms of lyrics. If the music actually went somewhere I’d probably have it in my top 10.

"New Year's Day" is predictably one of the most polarizing songs in this rankdown, but imo it slays, so I am thrilled to see it outlast peoples' expectations!!!

“New Year’s Day” is gorgeous. The lyrics are some of Taylor’s best. It’s my favourite thing that she’s done in years. Sad, but not surprised, to see it out here.

So, at first I felt really floppish for how low I ranked this song. However, I have realized that I am so incredibly sick of Darius Rucker... :( Lol
Seriously, he has never had a hit single that wasn't incredibly overplayed. His voice is starting to turn into an instant station-changer for me, even on songs that are good... Which this one isn't. His vocal performance here is so monotonous, lazy, and phoned in.

I think some people were ranking the artist and not the song for New Years Day (don't @ me)
I looooved Darius's first album (so many potential singles) but he's been just ok for me ever since.

“For the First Time” is on the more interesting side of Darius Rucker’s recent singles but it still falls in the ok zone for me.

"Best Shot" grew on me SO much! At first, I thought it was decent, but generic as hell. It's still generic to me, but it is beautiful, and Jimmie Allen's gave a great vocal performance on it.

I can see SHOOTER being like “Y’all doing the only two black artists dirty during Black History Month!?”

Two black artists going back to back in a country rankdown lol Also another perfect ranking for Best Shot. A decent radio fodder I'll say. That Darius song should have swapped its ranking with Straight to Hell. Don't you feel the melody is too familiar?
