HDD finally released their top 50 most streamed songs of 2018. Finally? 2018 is still going. What happens to streams these past few weeks? Are they grouped into 2019, or do they not count toward any year? They'll probably count for the next year. Spotify and Apple Music released their year-end lists on the 5th of December, even earlier than HDD released theirs. Everyone's year-end lists is out by now. Anything else would have to count for the next year, I'd imagine. |

AIWFCIY will get its biggest week next week. Well, it will only have 5 days of major streaming, so it should be interesting, but I don't think it will be enough. As had happened every year prior, though, its strongest days for streaming are still coming. It will almost double its daily streams between now and Tuesday, more than making up for the lost days. Hell, even with airplay, two of its five strongest days will take place in next week's tracking period. Its airplay will still come below this week's, but streaming and probably sales will be up next week compared to this week. |

But to have a peak week as that poster suggested, those high days have to more than make up for the loss of days. I can see it happening with streaming since it's only 2 days of loss, but I don't think the 2 days of high airplay can make up for the loss of 5 days. |

I don't know what Spotify does but some REAL year end lists do not come out til the first couple weeks of January, long after people have celebrated the end of the year.
2018 reminiscing happens now, before the year is over

Billboard has a somewhat soft cut-off for the end of the year, but I'd bet any money that "fiscal" 2019 in Billboard will start Dec 1 2018. And, like 2018, it'll probably include only 52 charts, again leaving off the last week still in November. |

^The articles that had to do with the 2018 Year-End charts mentioned that the charts covered were until November 17, 2018 one. I don't think Billboard will throw away the November 24, 2018 charts, so that they would count toward the 2019 Year-End.

Why is that Halsey song selling so well????? Because a lot of people really enjoy it. It's also doing really well in streaming and airplay. I guess. It just feels so random. Nothing about it screamed "hit" when I first heard it, to me it's just another Halsey song. Congrats to her regardless though. |
