I would have liked to see AIWFCIY go #1 just so fans can move on from hoping that every year LOL.
At this point in her career is also Mariah's best bet to increase her record number of chart-toppers for a solo act. (I kinda wish Rihanna would hurry up and catch up already).

Really cool to see more Christmas songs doing really well! It'll be interesting to see where they all land next week too. Here's hoping RATCT can also sneak into the top ten at some point this season or next. That track is the original AIWFCIY.

Another holiday class enters? Nice. (Even if that McCartney tune isn't universally loved). I wonder if another enduring and popular holiday classic - Elvis Presley's "Blue Christmas"- will chart in future years. It was No. 1 on the Christmas singles chart back in the day and sold very well.

It was No. 1 on the Christmas singles chart back in the day and sold very well. If the holiday tunes stay pat or increase during this tracking week (5 days streaming/sales and 2 days radio), then the next 2 years should be pretty amazing for Xmas songs during the same week (2019: 6 S/S and 3 radio; 2020 Xmas on Friday (7 S/S through Xmas Eve and 5 radio including Xmas Day). For reference in 2017: AIWFCIY only slipped to 13 with just 4 S/S and 1 radio day.

Woah- even more holiday in the top 50. Brenda Lee's classic hits a new peak, as do many others. Both Beatles' holiday tunes have charted- and, first Ronettes, and now Darlene Love. It's nice seeing this holiday love spread among so many tunes.

I’ll admit the Xmas ‘bomb’ this holiday season has been the most fun I’ve had chartwatching in a couple of years! This week has a couple of songs I didn’t expect and missing one I wanted (Blue Xmas). What’s most interesting about the Xmas Bomb is that all 3 components are important to all the entries - unlike most album bombs which primarily are driven by streaming points.

Does Santa Tell Me needs to make top 50 to reenter or could it rerenter in the bottom half?

Hallelujah is not a Christmas song. It's framed as a Christmas song, and is on the Holiday charts. It also comes back to high positions on iTunes every holiday season

After Christmas we are going to see 20 songs leave the chart, so many songs are going to get new peaks while many others get to debut

Songs will start dropping next chart - there will still be a few stragglers as next chart contains a partial tracking week.
The week after, all should be gone

The thing that bothers me a bit about all these holiday songs entering, especially because there are so many, 18 now, is that they will cause some current songs to go recurrent prematurely, which doesn't seem fair. The Hot 100 is of course supposed to measure what is the most hot and current, and these holiday songs, most of which are decades old, are anything but the most current, they are just showing very predictable seasonal rises in popularity. I would say let them chart, but exempt recurrent rules to all other songs they would ordinarily push off. This seems like what they already do with the AC chart, so I'm not at all way off base here.

Recurrent songs can re-enter if they are above #50 overall (#25 if they have 52 chart weeks) and are gaining in multiple metrics

Broken, Taste, God is a Woman, That's On Me, and Lie go recurrent this week. All were dying, so I don't think the Christmas songs had too drastic of an effect this particular week in terms of recurrency. It did prevent many songs from getting higher peaks though- Eastside would have been #12, Wake Up In the Sky would have been #9, Backin it Up would have been #46, Electricity would have been #73, and Close to Me would have been #39, among other songs. All will probably jump in the next two weeks, so it's not too much of a loss, especially since the Christmas songs deserve to be where they are.

Recurrent songs can re-enter if they are above #50 overall (#25 if they have 52 chart weeks) and are gaining in multiple metrics With the additional stipulation that the gains are due to a "significant and special reason," correct? There is nothing special or significant about holiday songs gaining at this time of the year; it is completely cyclical and happens every year. With so many holiday songs littering the Hot 100, it's starting to resemble more and more the Holiday Songs chart, which doesn't seem completely right, and I predict within a few years Billboard might reinstate the old rules of not allowing them to chart.

While I’ve enjoyed the Christmas army this year I’d be open to a slight rule change , perhaps only letting holiday songs chart if they’d be 25 or higher that way the chart is a little less cluttered and the power houses are still recognized
