100. Going To Mars - One of a few obvious bottom dweller candidates here. More garbage from a lame band.
99. Burn The House Down - This didn't quite make my bottom 10, but I'm still not surprised or disappointed by this ranking.
98. Sober Up - Ditto.
97. Rescue Me - Not quite bottom 10 worthy, but it's another overproduced snoozefest from them.
96. Dangerous Night - I actually like this one a little better than the other singles from this album. Which means it's still just okay at best, but bottom 5 seems harsh.
95. Favorite Color Is Blue - Finally another bottom 5 gone, and my number 100 to boot. You almost have to wonder if DeLong was trolling people by making such an irritating song, his singles before and after this are all decent to good.
94. Celebrate - Good, another bottom 5 down. I used to think this band was overhated on here, but their singles from this era deserve the tanking.
93. Something Human - And we go from two straight bottom 10 losses to my first top 50 elimination, with a seriously overhated song. It's certainly not their best, or even the best of this era, but I think it's still pretty solid.
92. Kamikaze - Ugh, WTM went from bad to worse with the singles from this era. One bottom 5 to go.
91. Last of the Real Ones - And everything in my bottom 5 makes the bottom 10! Surprised this even lasted as long as it did though, it's hot garbage.
90. Visions - Kitten's "I Did It" was one of my favorite songs from this year... this one, not so much. It's better than the other Dirty Heads song here, but still pretty blah.
89. Broken - I'm relieved this isn't Grandson, but this still doesn't deserve to be so low. It may be lightweight fluff (not to mention ridiculously overplayed), but I like the early-2010s synthy indie pop vibe, and I can't deny that the hook is killer.
88. Blood//Water - And there goes my relief. This song is awesome and a breath of fresh air IMO, the hate just confounds me. I knew it would have tankers, but was hoping there would be enough support to at least get it near the middle. Oh well, at least it wasn't bottom 10.
87. Silver Lining - It's not one of the worst songs here, I could see why some would like it, but it was on the annoying side and I probably overranked it a little.
86. Fever Pitch - Mostly the same thoughts as "Sliver Lining", but this one annoyed me a bit more, and I wouldn't say I overranked it.
EXTRAS: "Stuck" and "Happy Man" are both solid songs that I wouldn't have minded seeing make the cut. Wasn't a fan of "Pictures of Girls".

91: The Last of the Real Ones - Best single of the era, but that's not saying much. 90: Visions - This is just there. Best single off the era but it's only okay/mediocre - not good. 89: Broken - Never thought this was that great in the first place, and its longevity only made me resent the song more. 88: Blood//Water - Eh, it's a bad song but I can't bring myself to hate it that much now. 87: Silver Lining - Alt could've brought Severed to the top 40 but instead we get this. Jenny Jenkins is a bit better. That being said, I might have underranked this in retrospect despite the lyrics. 86: Fever Pitch - Suspected this would be my first top 50 loss. Let's just say this song is an acquired taste.
Extras: Happy Man would've easily been in my top 10 and Stuck and Pictures of Girls are fine.

Upset over nothing except "Blood/Water" being out. It is dark and delicious on every level imaginable! LOVE the melody and production, and the lead singer has a great fucking voice! Not to mention the lyrics. They're amazing. You guys did it dirty. Definitely over-hated. zaclord π the fact that YOU LOVE THIS TOO!!!! I thought you'd hate it! But you don't!

I'm pretty sure these firsr reveals are going to be awful? One thing for sure is I don't feel the need to listen to the songs while I do my comments. also I'm only blackening songs that are not complete travesties.
100. Judah and The Lion - Going To Mars The lion should have ate Judah before this travesty was released.
99. AJR - Burn The House Down... ....with this band in it. I do like the horn section towards the end tho. Sorry..
98. AJR - Sober Up Message to Alt radio stations. For all our sakes Sober the F U C K up in 2019 and stop playing this campfire sing a long throw away bull.
97. Thirty Seconds to Mars - Rescue Me This band is done on my charts. He even uses those vocal tones styles that make me wanna barf. All he add to add was a couple of those "aye aye aye's". 91x kept this band off their top 91 of 2018, and rightfully so.
96. Thirty Seconds to Mars - Dangerous Night. Terrible in its ownright, but at least these last two reveals don't sound tooo EDM. Get those travesties out ASAP.
95. Robert DeLong f/ K.Flay - Favorite Color is Blue you know this is a polarizing list when I'm one of the highest rankers for this song. I actually like the orgasmic sounds in the song.
94. Dirty Heads f/ The Unlikely Candidates - Celebrate Thank you. This was vocal torture to my ears.
93. Muse - Something Human This was bad, but I wasn't gonna tank bands just because they make mistakes.
92. Walk the Moon - Kamikaze Comon there are worse songs on this list than this.
91. Fall Out Boy - The Last of the Real Ones Now we are just tanking bands that pissed us off. No way this deserves bottom ten, when there are still Elektronik travesties still floating around.
90. Dirty Heads f/ Kitten - Visions I hate this kind of vocals. Kitten had no business appearing on this travesty.
89. lovelytheband - Broken The most polarizing song of the year. The history between this song and me is hilarious, but in the end, its the music video that makes it listenable. This is however Alt's lowest of lows in music years.
88. grandson - Blood // Water This is pure barf on a stick. There isn't a single aspect of this song that I admire. If I was to do a top 1000 songs of 2018 I would still not feature this abomination. 'nuff said
87. Mt. Joy - Silver Lining P-P-P-Perfect folkathon Travesty. I thought I would have put this one even lower, but in the end it escaped my bottom 10. Boy this year in Alt sucked.
86. Rainbow Kitten Surprise - Fever Pitch Here is another one I thought I would shoot down the crapper sooner.

You know the year in Alternative music sucked when the extras are better than the songs we are ranking.
Stuck - The Aces I like this one. I gave a bit of chart action in 2017.
Happy Man - Jungle This is alright musically, but I'm kinda done with this vocal style.
Pictures of Girls - Wallows I liked this one. I didn't chart it , but I did chart plenty of songs that sound like it. This is great style for Alternative chart that no one can call silly..

I'll write my thoughts here :)
100: Going to Mars - You know, I kinda like this song. I know it's Judah and the Lion and I can see why there's dislike for it, but I like the chorus okay. I won't be an apologist for the folk hop beat, but I don't dislike this song :X Shame These Are My Friends didn't make the cut this year to be the far and away last place finisher here.
99: Burn the House Down - Again...not too much hate for this one. I mean, given the choice I'd rather not listen to AJR and the horn line is annoying, but there was a period of time I didn't change the station when it came on the radio. It's catchy, definitely better than Sober Up at least
98: Sober Up - I mean, what do you want me to say about Sober Up. It's lame. There are worse offenders here, but not many.
97: Rescue MeeeeeeEEEEEEE - I think the verses sound kinda decent, but everything else is a hard no from me.
96: Dangerous Night - Again, the verses aren't too bad but the chorus is just insufferable. Ew
95: Favorite Color Is Blue - This song is just a mess. Who said this song was good to even be released. Then who said it should be a radio single. And then why was it the first radio single....and why did it actually chart ._. Bad
94: Celebrate - This has grown on me. It's boring but inoffensive. I uh won't trash it too much, it's just kind of plain.
93: Something Human - Gross. Still not as offensive as Dig Down or Follow Me or w/e though
92: Kamikaze - Surprising to see this here? I don't think it's a great song, but bottom 10 was a bit unexpected. It grew on me over its chart run, thought it was a bit of a chopped up mess, but the chorus is catchy.
91: The Last of the Real Ones - It's just corny and not good. But I mean, of all the Fall Out Boys released to Alt I guess this was the best one.
90: Visions - Y'all are hacks, the Dirty Heads hate needs to stop. This song's good.
89: Broken - Inoffensive, catchy enough, fine song that just got killed from overplay. I'd be fine if I never heard Broken again.
88: Blood/Water - Okay, I get it, this is loud, messy, and obnoxious, but I still like it. I used to dislike the electronic drop a lot, but even that has ended up growing on me. I'll happily stand up for this song.
87: Silver Lining - Just boring lame uninspired why did this chart is it 2012
86: Fever Pitch - Hot mess, so many styles trying to be blended together and none of them sound good.
I'm sleepy

100: Going To Mars - Judah and the Lion This is what I expected to be last. There are no redeeming qualities to this clusterfuck of a song. I understand the appeal of some of their songs but this certainly is not one of those songs.
99: Burn the House Down - AJR This song gives me a headache. The trumpets are pathetic, the vocals are nasally and annoying and the lyrics sound like they belong in a 2011 song from LMFAO.
98: Sober Up - AJR This song takes the worst aspects of Panic! at the disco, Jon Bellion and twenty one pilots and combines them into a horribly disjointed mess, It also uses the annoying "we're using strings in our songs because we're hipster and not like other pop songs" troupe. None of these three guys have any vocal ability and Rivers performance here makes Can't Stop Partying look like Say It Ain't So. Hopefully, I never have to hear this song ever again.
97: Rescue Me - 30STM This only missed my bottom 10 because I legitimately forgot what it sounded like. This song is the most generic garbage that charted this year
96: Dangerous Night - 30STM This nearly topped this chart and it's literally a fucking Zedd song. This is a young & Menace level sell-out.
95: Favorite Color is Blue - Robert DeLong Biggest disappointment on the chart this year. Robert DeLong is very talented and while I don't like K Flay all that much, she at seems to have some character. This song is an absolute embarrassment and the drop is laughable. This song is the most unpleasant to listen to on this chart but AJR got under my skin way more.
94: Celebrate - Dirty Heads This song is pretty bad but this is not bottom 10 worthy. This is more of a mid 80s rank song.
93: Something Human - Muse Hot Take: Muse have one great album: Origin of Symmetry and their last good album was black Holes and Revelations. Muse are one of the most over the top and pretentious bands that I have ever heard but everyone sucks their dick like they are pioneers of rock. Finally everyone got their head out of their ass and realized how bad their new music is. This song is a shameless Mumford and Sons rip off and is hardly and rock song. Matt Belamy also somehow finds a way to croon over this flaccid instrumental.
92: Kamikaze - Walk the Moon This song is not good but I never hated it as much as some people did. I am honestly alright with this song going out so early but idk what that will say about One Foots performance.
91: Last of the Real Ones - Fall out Boy Okay this song is not that bad. I think everyone is really bias against this band.
90: Visions - Dirty Heads This is definitely bias against Dirty Heads. Nothing about this song screams bottom 15 worthy. It has a nice chill vibe that I can dig.
89: Broken - lovelytheband Oh it is broken alright. This has to be one of the lamest #1 alt songs of all time. This is really lame and forgettable and should not have kickstarted this bands career.
88: grandson - blood // water This song is a guilty pleasure for me. I actually don't hate the drop as much as some people do and this song has intensity and is a tleast memorable.
87: Mt. Joy - Silver Lining sorry, I don't want another Lumineers or Vance Joy wannabe.
86: Fever Pitch - Rainbow Kitten Surprise This song is not amazing but it takes a risk and tries something interesting and I can respect that. I wouldn't listen to a full album of this but this is fine.
Stuck would be in my top 30 Happy Man would be in my top 20 Pictures of Girls would be in my top 40

I popped up here and there, but I wasn't able to post my full thoughts on songs, so here we go!
#100: "Going to Mars" (#99) - I don't hate Judah & The Lion as much as some of you guys (like I don't mind "Take It All Back" or "Suit & Jacket"), but this is straight garbage. Good riddance.
#99: "Burn the House Down" (#61) - I honestly enjoy this lmao. It's a fine pop song. Alternative? No, but I'm still fine with it. Not shedding over tears this being out 'early' for my ranking because I fully expected this.
#98: "Sober Up" (#91) - Okay cool, this isn't good! I don't particularly mind AJR on this song β Rivers Cuomo just sucks so hard on this. It doesn't help that the rest of the song is just bland. This should have been out before "Burn the House Down".
#97: "Rescue Me" (#68) - Another one I don't really hate like you guys. I like the verses a lot, and the chorus is fine (though Jared's RESCUEEE MAHHHHHHHHs are annoying lmao), but the breakdown after the choruses is what ruins it for me. It was fine the first time around, but then it got annoying by the end. This fell into my "okay" pile (which was a lot of this list).
#96: "Dangerous Night" (#84) - Add another into the pile at "wrong song out first" because this should have been out before "Rescue Me". I actually did like this a little when it came out, but re-listening for the rankdown, this was really disjointed β it was like three different songs in one. Jared's vocals were annoying on this one too. Man, they have fallen so hard.
#95: "Favorite Color is Blue" (#100) - Oh my god, thank the almighty lord this is out. This should have been the #100 in the RD. Absolutely awful. This is the only song I full-on hated in this list. That poor whale.
#94: "Celebrate" (#46) - Great. They're so overhated. Like, I don't think this is great or anything, but this is so inoffensive (as is "Visions). I honestly wouldn't have been as mad if this got out 10 positions later, but bottom 10 is reaching. The song has a good meaning to it.
#93: "Something Human" (#97) - Another artist that has fallen to mediocrity. This sounds like completely watered down X Ambassadors. Goodbye.
#92: "Kamikaze" (#86) - I didn't hate this when it came out, but it burned on me. Just not a good effort from them at all. They're usually a good band, but this was a huge misstep.
#91: "The Last of the Real Ones" (#63) - This is one I actually started boosting up as I made my list. It went higher than I thought it would on my list. I kinda enjoy it. They have definitely fallen off, but this isn't their worst effort. I don't know why, but this reminds me slightly of "Cool for the Summer", lol.
#90: "Visions" (#41) - See "Celebrate".
#89: "broken" (#65) - This burned on me. I think it's overhated, but this song has done way better than it should have. There is no reason this paint-by-the-numbers indie pop song should still in the Top 10 on Alt, and it's past a full year on the chart.
#88: "Blood // Water" (#66) - A lot of my 60s have been gutted, lol. It's interesting at least. I kinda enjoy the abrasiveness nature of it. Still, not shedding tears over this being out already.
#87: "Silver Lining" (#71) - I don't hate this, but his vocals are just bleh on this, and the lyrics aren't very good. It's got a nice sound to it though if you look past those things.
#86: "Fever Pitch" (#27) - The first one I want to throw hands with. This was one I moved up a decent bit in my edit. This is great. I forget that "weird" sometimes equates to "not good" to some of you. This reminds me of "Loud(y)" which was overhated on its own. Totally dumb that this is out now.
Hoping tonight we start seeing more of my bottom 25 because I only lost six last night. I will say that I think my bottom 25 is filled with songs I don't like that you guys either do for some reason, or that you're neutral on. I think my closeness for this year won't be that great, lol.

93. Muse - Something Human This was bad, but I wasn't gonna tank bands just because they make mistakes. The last few years of their career has been a mistake. Hey now, let's not pretend that "Reapers" and "The Handler" don't exist...
(why is this the second time I've responded to you about Muse in this thread)
Anywho, IT'S STATS TIME! If I've missed something or messed up somewhere, I'm sure you won't hesitate to let me know.

I've always kinda liked "Rescue Me". I was hoping it would outperform "Dangerous Night" or at least avoid being Thirty Seconds to Mars worst performance. Guess not.
I enjoyed "Something Human", "Visions", and "The Last of the Real Ones" when they were first came out but have since grown tired of them. I knew that "Kamikaze" was disliked but I didn't think it would be hated enough to end up in the bottom ten.
"Stuck" would've been in my top 40 easily. I don't have any strong feelings one way or another for the other 2 extras.

Although the start wasn't great, it could have been worse edition:
100. Going to Mars: I'm not opposed to alternative songs that try different things. But not a huge fan of Judah and the Lion and the production on this was bad.
99. Burn the House Down: Like I said before, I get why you hated the song. The horns are aggressive. But the song lyrics about choosing to speak out as opposed to just playing music won me over.
98. Sober Up: I guess I shouldn't be too surprised considering the amount of hate for them. The song was better crafted; the lyrics are shakier. But this is probably the peak of Rivers Cuomo in 2018...oops, I guess you can guess I ranked both of Weezer's songs worse now.
97. Rescue Me: I get that 30 Seconds to Mars like to experiment, but much like drinking milk while running or playing the Joker in Suicide Squad, it was a poor choice. The whiny, crybaby tone of Leto's voice proved to be massively irritating and I'm reminded on how they cancelled an appearance to appear on my campus on short notice.
96. Dangerous Night: He's less annoying here, but still not a fan of the electronica influence on their album. What happened to the group that did The Kill? That's the 30 Seconds I like. Also, p-p-perfecto!
95. Favorite Color is Blue: This is one of those songs that I finally started getting into just as they fell off the charts. Maybe could have done without the aahs, but the verses clicked and the post-chorus breakdown worked for me.
94. Celebrate: The wrong Dirty Heads song goes out first. This was kind of mediocre, but still better than their other one.
93. Something Human: The right Muse song goes first. I think they're a bit typecast at this point. Play too close to their famed sound and people think it's a ripoff; play too far away and it just sounds incredibly bland. Thought Contagion can stay awhile, though.
92. Kamikaze: I kinda dug the sound in this one, but the lyrics kept me from going a bit higher. Bottom line is that I liked their 2018 input which means trouble for One Foot, doesn't it?
91. The Last of the Real Ones: I get that Fall Out Boy likes to experiment, but maybe next time make sure the songs can stand up to scrutiny? Of this album, I liked only Hold Me Tight or Don't. It's not the travesty of Young and (a) Menace, but it's kinda bland. Both the song and the video were reminding me of other ones they did better (for the latter, it's Light Em Up).
90. Visions: I liked the female singer in this, but the lead singer of Dirty Heads got annoying after a while. Pass.
89. Broken: I think if this had been gone after 30 weeks that maybe it would have ended up in the 70s? I found it dull and kind of bland.
88. Blood/Water: At least they tried something unique here. It doesn't entirely work (the drop is more grating than satisfying and I'm not quite sure what's going on with the lead singer), but they tried.
87. Silver Lining: Another kind of dull, pleasantly inoffensive slogs. I don't remember much about this one except maybe I wasn't the fan of the lead's voice?
86. Fever Pitch: Pleasant enough, but wasn't it annoying (aah) when the song (aah) kept interrupting itself (aah) to keep momentum?
Next: Hopefully my #100 falls overboard as does Bastille and Weezer.

Haha, I'm not last in rankdown closeness somehow! But I'm nearly top of Year-End closeness funnily enough...
But geeeez, I still have NINE bottom 10's haha.

The Handler is pretty good but I never found it all that amazing. I will agree with you on Reapers tho, that song rocks. But overall their last 3 albums have been really boring or else outright bad to me. Muse have just never been my thing.

What's supposed to be amazingly unique and refreshing about "Blood // Water" anyway? It's essentially Kornstep, but with TNGHT as the backdrop instead of Skrillex. Not even the bad American accent is out of the ordinary for radio today. Hard pass. {mostly off-topic but}This remains the best EDM drop ever

I also still think "Kamikaze" is overhated. To be fair, though, that hook/drop really hurt my ranking of it. I would have had it a lot higher, otherwise.

I will never understand how anyone could still have nearly ALL of their bottom 10 after every trainwreck that's been in the bottom 15.

Time to put a frame around that rankdown closeness. Is that the highest I have ever appeared in one of these? Either I'm dreaming or this year in Alt really sucked.
