I actually like High Hopes. A lot. I can totally understand why so many people would despise it though. There are many reasons. I am however so sick and tired of hearing it EVERYWHERE that I would cool never hearing it again.
With that being said, as much as I like the song, if it keeps getting this ridiculous amount of airplay in so many places, I may have different feelings about it eleven months from now. I'm sure that there will be much worse songs this year than it.

I never hated High Hopes, tbh. I'd probably place it around the middle-ish section of my list next year, assuming 2019 does not get better than 2018. (especially with SWMRS, and new Judah & the Lion)

Submitted. Unpopular opinion, but I actually really liked a lot of these songs. I feel bad about some of the songs I had to rank low. I only disliked my bottom five. To each their own, I guess. I probably won't do too well in this, either - especially considering I have two covers very high on my rankings (I actually loved them).

I was stuck into this but between my browser crashing last week (losing my progress) and Wintertime Madness I'm only now revisiting it to finish my list before deadline.
Re: 'These Are My Friends' I don't get what's so bad about it, it's just utterly mediocre and unremarkable. Not the complete and utter dumpster fire it seems like ya'll regard it as.

Opinion time!
"High Hopes" is annoying as all hell. Brendon can get out of here trying to flex his vocal range on every damn song. Every time I hear him screeching on the chorus, my ears whisper to me to make it stop.
"these are my friends" has lyrics that sound straight out of Barney. However, I think the sound is fine. I do enjoy the breakdown after the chorus.
"Worst Nites" is Foster the People's worst single to date by far, but it's not terrible. More just meh.

Opinion to the three/four songs that people are giving opinions about:
"High Hopes" has become literally inescapable recently and a channel changer so fast. Co-workers of mine have had this on repeat constantly there and it's been absolute torture. The final chorus is really grating as well.
"broken" and "these are my friends", songs that my local radio won't stop playing and it's tiring. How about variety for a change?
I still haven't listened to "Worst Nites" and I feel like I need to keep it that way.

"These Are My Friends" is hot garbage, defnitely worse than "All My Friends", and I don't care for that one either. I still think "Broken" is pretty good for the indie pop sugar rush that it is, but it's definitely worn out its welcome on the radio.
Can't say I'm really tired of "High Hopes" yet, I guess because I don't really listen to the radio all that often anymore, and I never added it to any of my personal playlists. I could very well feel differently a year from now, though.
I've only heard "Worst Nites" a few times, I would generally say I like it but don't love it, but that could potentially change in either direction with more listens.

I agree with what James said about “these are my friends”.
I actually really like “Worst Nites”, but that applies to pretty much every Foster the People song I have heard, so I guess I just really dig their overall style.

Sent. IDK how much of this was me being tired and having to push through to get this done but I feel like this is a pretty even-handed list. Like... (and again this could be because I'm tired) there doesn't really seem to be any particular highs, but no particular lows either. The top end of my list is stuff I enjoyed more, but toward the lower half it's less 'I don't like this/I hate this' and more 'ehh I could do without it but I wouldn't turn it off necessarily'.

My top 10 prediction is somewhere between optimistic and pessimistic. Los Ageless, Pink Lemonade, She's Kerosene, The Gold, Run For Cover, Sorry, Lash Out, &Run, Sit Next To Me, Live in the Moment. Handyman and BO have a good shot at filling in if any one of these faltered

considering how big the submitter pool is (especially with a bunch of them being either first timers to rock chart rankdowns or people who haven't submitted for a while) this is going to be slightly harder, but "sit next to me", "live in the moment", at least one of the alice merton songs, "lose* ageless", "sorry", and maybe something like "the gold" or "pink lemonade"

the ajr songs, at least one thirty seconds to mars song, "going to mars", "blood // water", possibly "celebrate", maybe some of the more obscure stuff like that yungblud song
