If I'm typing in Georgia, size three font, that would normally mean only one thing...but, since I'm co-hosting, that's not really the case. Oh well, it's still time for the TOP TEN PREVIEWWWWWW! Yay. And for once, we're doing it the night before the top ten! As always, if I have made a mistake, I'm sure you won't hesitate to let me know.

- This is the first top ten for The Interrupters, Alice Merton, St. Vincent, James Bay, and Meg Myers. The Interrupters' top ten is notable, as it's their first top ten appearance on their first attempt.
- Our first repeat artist is Blue October, making their second top ten appearance and their first top ten appearance in a non-retro rock chart rankdown. Blue October will be hoping to top their #7 performance with "Into the Ocean" in 2007 Alt.
- Manchester Orchestra are making their second top ten appearance, as well, though it's not even the first time this particular song has made the top ten: "The Gold" finished #4 in the 2017 AAA rankdown. I have to imagine that Manchester Orchestra are looking to improve upon that performance here.
- Portugal. The Man are making their second top ten appearance, but they are, perhaps, the most notable, as they are looking to do the unthinkable and finish at the top in back-to-back current Alt rankdowns. Can the rebels retake the throne with "Live in the Moment"?
- One of our "top ten veterans" tonight, Nothing but Thieves are now making their third top ten appearance. Not only were this song's other two top ten appearances in the same year (2016), they're also accomplishing something fairly rare: Every NBT song that has made a rock chart rankdown has made the top ten.
- This rankdown's great big top ten veteran artist moniker are a band who, this time last year, were a band making their first top ten: The Killers. Since that point, they've made several top ten appearances, to the point that this rankdown will mark their eighth top ten appearance. The Killers are looking for their second Alt #1, having previously won with (of course) "Mr. Brightside" in Alt 2005. They also, like Portugal. The Man, finished top five last year with 'The Man".

"&Run" and "No Roots" actually made it farther than "Sit Next To Me", "Loving Is Easy", and "Far Away Truths"? This was an extremely disappointing day for reveals.
At least "&Run" missed the top ten. I find that song so awkward and unpleasant to listen to. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ At least Mr. Thonk Eyes is with me on that one!

4-7-20-24-26-42-60-61-66-83. Eh, I enjoy most of these. But some of those others were seriously robbed. I can understand "Sit Next To Me" may sound too poppy for some, but "Far Away Truths" and "Loving Is Easy" easily deserved better. The former was an awesome discovery, and I was very close to putting it as my #1...

25. Florence and The machine - Hunger
Tho its no "Ship To Wreck", but  this is one of those songs I kinda missed out on charting. I think it's one of the highest ranks I'm giving a song that I didn't chart, but it just sounded so good this time around. Nice to see it make the top 30.

24. AWOLNATION - Handy Man
Finally. Not a fan of this at all. This is about as catchy as chicken pox. Not the good kind of catchy. Sounds like "this style of song" part 10. Those vocals are the nail in the coffin. 

23. The Neighborhood - Scary Love
One of the best Indiepop songs of the year. Now this is what I consider catchy.

22. Franz Ferdinand - Always Ascending
Too many of us lost a great top 10 song here. Some friendships will come to an end here.

21. Death Cab For Cutie - Gold Rush
Not bad it just didn't do much for me. Guess you will have to wait for next year to possibly see a DCFC song in my top 15.

20. Joywave - Doubt
I'm not particularly into this song or this band, but I'll give it a thumbs up for being better than most of ALt 2018.

19. Rex Orange County feat "the Loveboat house band" - Loving Is easy
Jeez I forgot this "Loveboat" theme song was still in here. The "F bomb in this song was so out of place. I'll pass on this elevator music vibe.

18. "Nathanal and his sweaty band" - You Worry Me
This isn't for me either. I really didn't know what to do with this song? It wasn't awful but it wasn't anywhere near good either. Boy this 2018 year was bad.

17. Royal Blood - I Only Lie When I Love You
I upgradad this one to compete with guitar haters. Their best song yet. That "cowbell" is off the charts. F U C K I N FIERCE . You all a bunch of wimps. 

16. Albert Hammond Jr. - Far Away Truths
Another one I upgraded without actually charting. This is a great song, but I had many songs like this on my charts. It's nice to see the Alternative community has some sort of hope.

15. Foster The people - Sit next To me
This is the song that should have been #1 alt, not 'broken'. I thought their would be more Rocksters love for this?

14. Young The Giant - Simplify
I love this one. I ranked it exactly where it peaked on my weekly charts. #17 forever and a day. Not their worst. That would be that new song charting this moment.

13. Twenty One Pilots - Jumpsuit
I doubt you will ever see my rank a 21ps song this high again. This one clicked with me for the screaming and loud guitar. That's my story and I'm sticking with it. 

12. Sir Sly - & Run from Duran Duran's copyright lawyers
I kind of liked this for the synth melody that sounded like Duran Duran's "The Chauffeur". Not much other than that tho.

11. Alice Merton - No Roots
Oh F U C K I N comon! I'm taking names of all those ranking it under top 30. 8D This is the fierce bass line jam of the year

Wow, this is an awesome top ten! Well done Pulse! I suppose nothing is too surprising although I didn't expect "Numb" to be in contention for the top ten.

My only disappointment is "Jumpsuit" missing out. I'm amazed that "&Run" made it all the way to #12. I'll be happy with whatever wins this but it would be nice if it's something in my top 10.

Three of my top 10's made it, and I'm totally cool with the other three songs in my top 15 being there too. I do hope my 64 and 65 exit sooner than later, but not sure I should get my hopes up.

The biggest surprise here is definitely "Gold Rush" missing top 10 (and top 20 for that matter). I thought "Handyman" would have done better too. There were other songs I thought had good shots like "&Run", "Sit Next To Me", "Far Away Truths", "Jumpsuit", and "Always Ascending", but I'm not overtly shocked that they missed it either. No big surprises out of the songs that did make it - wasn't sure how optimistic I should be about "Numb", but I'm glad it prevailed.

57% of participants still have their #1 intact going into the top 10, or 29 out of 51 posters - I feel like that's a pretty high number. I guess that can be partially explained by the fact that this year's song selection was particularly weak.

Not sure if it's actually that high, but I compared with two rankdowns I particpated in - 2003 and 2004 - and that number was quite smaller, respectively 45% and 35%.

Surprised both "Numb" and "Lash Out" made it. Other than those two, this is a rather solid top ten. I was certain both "Loving Is Easy" and "Far Away Truths" were going to be top ten locks but I guess I was proven wrong there.
