Not sure how I feel about this may Christmas songs reentering. It would be one thing if it was less songs or if it wasn’t a yearly thing, but the fact that more and more Christmas songs are reentering every year and wrecking havoc on the chart feels like something that probably shouldn’t be happening, though I’m not sure how they’d limit it.

Because the songs are are not good. I guess I might have misunderstood. Is it that you are disappointed the top 3 songs are by women, or that you do like it that the top 3 songs are by women but that it is a shame because you happen to not like the songs? |

I'm pleasantly surprised- as far as I can tell, no songs went recurrent this week.
Love Lies was barely clinging on, but hopefully it can stay for 52 weeks.
Beautiful just barely survived recurrency as well. It would have been #29 this week without Christmas and would have hit #25 one of the weeks with Christmas songs blocking it, so hopefully it'll hit a new peak next week!

If Mariah falls off the Hot 100 next week, will she break the record for biggest fall off the chart? Isn't the record currently from #9? The record is #4 (Purple Rain) I thought it was i Will Always Love You from 3. |

Yeah, age achievements with Holiday songs isn't really the same thing. It's an old recording done when they were probably like 20-25 years old, it's not a new current hit they're having recorded at their current age.
Also these impending dropoff records from Hot 100 by Holiday songs shouldn't be viewed in the same category, considering the songs are meant for a specific week unlike a normal hit. People literally only play the song when it is a specific week.

I spent most of 2018 complaining about streaming and its impact on the chart, mostly due to my own negative opinions on the songs charting, and then this happens. I'm sorry I was so hard on you, streaming. You're alright. You have potential.
2019 will be the year of #1 number 19. Mark my words.
