Holy smokes. What an album. 10/10. Houser is back. This is even better than They Call Me Cadillac.
HOW wasn’t “Our Hearts” the lead single? What Leaving Looks Like may be his best track of all time. Although you could argue the same with No Good Place To Cry. What a voice.
Whole Lotta Quit is a flat out barn burner. Like an old Hank/George Jones tune. Running Man is a GEM. The lyrics in that song are him narrating him selling out, basically. Can’t get enough of this.
Will rank them all later, but there’s not a bad song on this album

I find it hard to reconcile the fact that the same guy who made this album made Fired Up. I tip my imaginary hat to Him for finding both his sound and voice. This will probably be one of my go-to country albums of 2019.

This was tough, here’s my rankings
1. What Leaving Looks Like 2. No Good Place to Cry 3. Running Man 4. Evangeline (smooooooth song) 5. Our Hearts 6. Nothing On You (I’m addicted to this song) 7. Whole Lotta Quit 8. High Time 9. What Whiskey Does 10. No Stone Unturned 11. New Buzz (this is still insanely catchy) 12. Mamma Don’t Know

Magnolia is a great album. I believe it will get some nominations for Album of the Year. When the songs fit, Houser is one of the best vocalists in Nashville, incredible range. After giving the album a few listens, my ranking would be
1. Evangeline 2. No Good Place to Cry 3. Whole Lotta Quit 4. Running Man 5. No Stone Unturned 6. What Leaving Looks Like 7. What Whiskey Does 8. Our Hearts 9. High Time 10. Nothing on You 11. Mamma Don't Know 12. New Buzz
I don't think there is a weak song on the album however. What makes an album to me is when you just hit "Play".

For as poor as the lead single has performed I’m happy to see this album seems to be getting a good buzz at least. Luke Combs tweeted about it, which is always good, lol.

What’s going on with the music film that caused the album to be delayed in the first place?

more that i hear this album. even the 2 songs "Mama Don't Know" & "New Buzz" are not that bad. in comparison to crap on the radio. i actually kinda like them. they wont move in my ranking of the album. it does make a complete album being good start to finish. for me this album just gets better and better every listen.

New Buzz is lyrically right at the bottom of the list, but holy hell that song is a complete earworm. Infectious. I love the guitar work and vocals by Brothers Osborne in it.

Debuts at #11 on the Country Albums chart. Yikes. This’ll probably be the last we hear of Houser for awhile.

To avoid compression issues for cost. Records used to only be 10 songs or less for that reason. 5he more songs on a vinyl, the more compressed and worse sounding they are. They can always issue a single with those.

It was #13 in sales, so probably 5k-6k. Put a fork in his mainstream career. Hope he at least continues to make music independently / create a fan base.
