Released on September 30, 2013 as the second of two promotional singles for Katy's third album "Prism." Inspired by CeCe Peniston and Crystal Waters, "Walking on Air" is a deep house song influenced by 1990s Eurodance.
Peaked at #34 on the Hot 100 for 1 week.
This is one of my favorite Katy songs of all time. I still think this should've been released as an official single.

A modern album track classic, along with “Legendary Lovers” of course.

Not releasing this is probably the most stupid decision of the decade.

Such an obvious single choice. Would've been an easy top 10 tbh. One of the few songs I still revisit from PRISM.

One of the best tracks off Prism. Seems like everyone wanted this to be a single.

Everyone's got a huge boner for this song. It's one of my least favorites on 'Prism' and I'm totally okay with it not being released.

A modern album track classic, along with “Legendary Lovers” of course. This plus Ghost would be my top 3 album tracks from Prism.

Prism was full of missed opportunities.
Roar Walking on Air Dark Horse Legendary Lovers This is How We Do.
Easy way to collect 4 top 10s. Would have been much better. Throw in TIHWD fifth and let it underperform again because I still love the video.

This is definitely one of her best non-singles. Fun song.

This is one of my all time favorite Katy songs. It's such a fun, uplifting song. I too wish it had been pushed as a proper single. When the news of its existence first began to spread and there were the descriptions, I was super curious and it was even better than expected. This captures 90s Handbag House perfectly. I am glad Katy did do this live at SNL and then during the tour.

katy's team has always sucked at picking singles, this is one example of a song that should have been a single. hell, they weren't going to make dark horse a single till it started performing well

This song would still slay in 2022. Hopefully, it blows up ok TikTok or whatever soon.

Def should have been a single. It was a huge risk back then though with the musical climate.

If there are two Katy Perry songs that deserve to be blessed by the TikTok gods, it’s this and Harleys In Hawaii. Two of the biggest missed opportunities of the 2010s. I don’t even need a Cruel Summer moment. I’d be happy with just a Bloody Mary or Unstoppable level of resurgence.

I always really liked this song. Especially the production. I had already stopped listening to the radio by this point so I don’t remember how it would have sounded back then or fit in??
