Hoping to see 'Consequences' hit the Top 50, 'Sweet But Psycho' hit the Top 40, 'Close to Me' hit the Top 30, and 'Eastside' hit the Top 10 this week.

Not sure if anyone can answer this but does anyone know what happened to Billboard making videos for the top 10? It's not that big of a deal but I've noticed that they haven't released one since the December 1st chart, which is kinda weird to me since they've been a (mostly) weekly thing for over 4 years now. This was brought up a few pages back. The general agreement seems to be copyright issues. YouTube and record labels are getting asinine in their take down of videos that use copyrighted material (despite in this case it literally being only 15 second clips at most), and it's likely affecting Billboard's videos. YouTube as a money making platform has really gone big especially with the rise of vlogs so it's really not surprising how the record labels are really going hard with their copyrighted material. I uploaded a work-related AVP on my YouTube seven years ago with hardly any views as years went by and I actually forgot about it until last month I received an e-mail notification about copyright issues because of a snippet of a song used there so I just took it down.

Hoping to see 'Consequences' hit the Top 50, 'Sweet But Psycho' hit the Top 40, 'Close to Me' hit the Top 30, and 'Eastside' hit the Top 10 this week. What's missing from this statement is you're not hoping a song to hit Top 20. But for me, I'm hoping Bazzi and Camila's Beautiful to hit Top 20. For Top 30, I'm hoping for A Lot.

How does one evaluate longevity 'in the public eye'? Simple. Who's going to care about any of these songs/albums like they do something like "Bohemian Rhapsody", or "Thriller", or for more modern examples, albums from Adele and Taylor Swift? This is what happens when you overexpose yourself by constantly releasing material. It's just to pander to the fanbase. Why does that matter? If someone is setting out to seriously have a goal that large, they’ll be sorely disappointed when it doesn’t happen because those incidents are considerably rare. Ariana striking while the iron is hot and risking overexposure is probably better than following standard procedure and risk everyone moving on and losing interest. The way she’s doing it now, every single she releases becomes a hit. Even if she risks overexposure, she’ll still have a big handful of hits that will likely carry over, at least in the form of nostalgia, so even if she’s unable to achieve anymore hits by 2021, at least her string of successes from 2015-19 will keep her name in people’s mouths for long after she’s no longer relevant.

During this 10-year period, only Donna Summer equaled ONJ's Top 10s (13) among females. ONJ/Donna even exceeded The Bee Gees (10), The Eagles (9) and Michael Jackson/Elton John (12). I don't actually know who lead Males/Groups, so if anyone has that info, please share!

So... looking at how the songs ahead of 'Breathin' went down in the final prediction compared to the initial one, if 'Breathin' hadn't peaked on pop radio there was still an outside chance of sneaking into the top 10 within the next couple of weeks... thanks Republic. :sip2:

Awesome. It just shows how different the music industry was before iTunes/Streaming eras changed everything with 'promotional singles,' and album bombs. Not too mention the 'feature' aspect of business that really boosted artists' appearance counts. So only McCartney eclipsed ONJ/Donna. That's kind of crazy. ONJ sure was a force during that time. Too bad, her accomplishments aren't really acknowledged - especially since she sold albums - at a time when few female artists did so.

Two top 10 hits for Halsey this week? This is the same girl who yielded zero top 40 hits during her first album's cycle. What a rebound. (Also kudos to Khalid who's quietly collecting those hits).
I remember Just Dance going #1 that week. Felt like such a huge deal because it was such an uphill climb. I remember seeing Lady Gaga for the first time on the Miss Universe pageant (Venezuela won that year and it was a big deal for this country, etc...) and the song instantly got in my head. My best friend and I proceeded to play the heck out of it for months, so by the time it went #1 in the US it was already old news for us.
That was also Love Story's peak week I think.
