I was just curious -- when a DJ is "voicetracked" on a station where they aren't actually working, how exactly does that work? For example, if the person is on from 3-7 on weekday afternoons, do they have to record 4 hours worth of voice tracks every morning? Or perhaps they do an entire week's worth at one time? Or something else entirely? Does anyone have experience with this?

From what I've been able to gather, it only takes a couple of hours to track a single shift. All you're doing is front- and back-selling songs, giving out community info and other useful/useless info. If I'm not mistaken, they're downloaded through an ISDN line. If a jock is doing more than one station, I would bet some is done in advance.

Probably during their actual real shift.
