Right now, it seems almost obvious that "Numb" is going to hold the #1 spot just as long, or possibly longer than "Faint".
Though Blink-182 have a strong current bullet for "Feeling This", and there are some other promising hits on the horizon, it seems nothing is a match for "Numb" for quite some time to come. Trapt's "Still Frame" is getting old, Puddle of Mudd have a lackluster bullet considering having four Top-5 predecessors, and other artists are not exactly brand names to Alternative quite yet like Linkin Park are.
By the look of the current chart, how long do you think "Numb" will hold #1, and what will be the first single to dethrone Linkin Park after that number of weeks at #1?
My Prediction: Nine weeks at #1, "Fortune Faded" by Red Hot Chili Peppers first single to replace "Numb"
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

I was going to say nine weeks as well. For the sake of differency, I'll drop it to eight.

I agree with eight or nine weeks, and think that Offspring's Hit That will be the next number 1

Well, there's one thing you guys aren't factoring in- the two week break. I don't think it will hold on to 2004. Therefore, I'll say 6 weeks.
I'd also say offspring. Although they've never had an alternative #1.

Wow...it totally flew over my head that "Faint" is going to be #1 this week. Maybe I just haven't been paying enough attention, but this doesn't even seem like a current top 5 to me right now.

I blame it on eastern time (since it's an hour later there). ;)

for 8 weeks it will be #1, and I don't think that "fortune faded" will replace it

As for my prediction for "Numb", I'll say 7 weeks. I like this track better than either SIB or "Faint".

I like "Numb" and I'm happy it made it to #1. However, I like "Feeling This" a lot better and I'm holding out hope that Blink will get at least a week in at the top. I feel that "Numb" will be #1 for at least 6 weeks though.

I'm not sure about R&R, but on Billboard, COAP was a #1 hit. Their only one, for that matter.

I'm going from memory as I type this, but I think both COAP and "self esteem" peaked in the 3-4 range, as did "pretty fly" and "...get a job". OP peaked at #2- I'm sure about that. "Gone away" did hit #1 on the active rock chart, and was #1 for that year.

I think Offspring will hit #1 first for maybe a week or two, but RHCP will hit right after that.

Since 1995: Kick Him When He's Down - 19 Smash It Up - 16 All I Want - 12 Gone Away - 4 I Choose - 24 Pretty Fly (For A White Guy) - 3 Why Don't You Get A Job - 4 The Kids Aren't Alright - 7 She's Got Issues - 15 Totalimmortal - 26 Defy You - 8 Original Prankster - 2 Want You Bad - 9

Kick Him When He's Down - 19 They actually did release this? And #19? Jeez. I thought KPNT was on drugs when they put this in the '80's or '90's of their Top 100 of 1995. First of all, I never heard 'em play it. Secondly, I was like, "Uh, this song is 3-4 years old...what the hell...?"

It's cool that Numb is #1, that's a pretty good song. But, I think Numb will only spend about four or five weeks at #1, and I hope that Blink'll get to #1 with "Feeling This." I think that Numb will probably stick around for awhile overall, cause it's creeping up pop charts. Possibly another "In the End"

If that were the case, "Numb" would've exploded a lot sooner on Pop. #46 several weeks after the adds date won't get them a huge #1 pop hit.
