Been on my personal rotation for months. Heard on The Highway over the weekend. Hope he can chart and get into the 30's.

Too religious and preachy for me, but his voice is SO good. I will check out his other stuff because I love his voice.

I don’t really care too much for the production and mixing of this one but I love the idea and lyrics. This is definitely one a lot of people can relate to. Count me in as a fan of this song as well.
This won’t do much other than maybe crack the 50s on Mediabase. in2une Nashville is a reliable promotion service but since Matt Stell is a newer artist, I doubt this can go far, unless a bigger label picks it up.

It’s on a “pop” major label (Records, the label co - owned by Barry Weiss) and Jake Owen’s “Good Company” was also hired to promote it. So I think it’ll go further than the 50s but we will see how much further it’ll go.

The production and mixing is what I have a problem with as well, but otherwise it is really good. He has in incredibly strong voice and the melody in the chorus is quite strong as well. I'll definitely be listening to more of his music.

Ooo. This is solid. It gives me "Yours" vibes which is a good thing. If this can can get anywhere on the chart, this song will be a first dance song for a long while (maybe already is with almost three million views on YouTube).

This is a fine song and he has a decent voice, but it isn't exactly anything that stands out or brings anything special to the table here. The low budget feel of the music video was also notably hilarious. I don't see this doing much.

I discovered this back in the fall and immediately fell in love with it...so much so that my wife and I had it played at our wedding a few weeks ago...so it's a sentimental favorite here. :)

This song is a nice listen. It's nothing special but still better than half the songs on the radio right now.

Saw this guy when he randomly opened for a Logan Mize show in Pittsburg, KS last year. This song has been out for awhile now, so not necessarily new to me. But he seemed like a nice dude and the song itself is pretty good.

This one is showing 19 adds on impact day (over 20 total adds). Solid number here for Matt, with in2une Nashville and Good Company promoting it.

Makes official Mediabase Top 50 debut at #50 with a pretty healthy bullet of 87.

"Prayed For You" got Cumulus adds this week (15) and gained over 500 points to #47 on Mediabase on Sunday. This is starting to take off and I'm think it'll reach the top 30 at least, maybe higher. This one seems to be connecting with stations and listeners. I'm not surprised, I think it's a great song that always had a shot to make some noise.

This came on WPGB yesterday evening, and I had no idea what it was until I heard the hook in the chorus. This sounds like a smash. The production sounds great and the lyrics are definitely more on the unique side. I had no idea he wasn’t signed to a major label. Definitely rooting for this one.

The first post doesn’t mention RECORDS, the label started by Barry Weiss, the executive at Jive/RCA for years and also the guy behind most of the hit 90s hip hop and 2000s pop. He’s new to country but knows a hit when he hears it. So while technically a pop label, it’s not truly indie either as a sub label of Sony Music.

Sorry for the double post but Sony Nashville has partnered with RECORDS to launch Matt Stell and "Prayed For You." Sony "official impact date" is May 28.
Press Release: Nashville, TN/New York, NY, April 29, 2019 – RECORDS, a joint venture between Barry Weiss and Sony Music Entertainment, and Sony Music Nashville announce a new partnership. Effective immediately, Arista Nashville promotion and Sony Music Nashville’s marketing and media teams will become actively involved with breakthrough singer/songwriter Matt Stell. Arista Nashville will re-ship Stell’s debut single, “Prayed For You,” on May 6, with its official impact date set for May 28, continuing to work alongside Keith Gale and his Good Company Entertainment team. Making his debut Saturday on the Grand Ole Opry stage, the rising star performed this song, which he co-penned with Ash Bowers and Allison Veltz. “Prayed For You” has already garnered over 44 million on-demand audio streams and over 374,000 consumption units. Matt Stell was brought to RECORDS by Ash Bowers and his Wide Open Music management team.

It's great news they're re-sending this to radio, with a new impact date. I don't see any way this isn't a hit now. It already charted and got close to the top 50 without Arista and now with them on board to promote and market this starting in four weeks (with it already being top 50), I see this going to the top 10. Lots of working parts with Matt's deal (even before Arista got involved) but Sony/Arista's involvement is what matters the most with radio. It's rare to see this many different departments working on a song in some way but "Prayed For You" is too good to not back it and it makes sense for Sony.

First instant grat off of the upcoming EP, Everywhere But On, is SO good and sounds like another hit to me. I think this guy could have more hits than just Prayed For You.

This and "Everywhere But On" have really great lyrical plays that older country really loved. Lately we've been diminshed to "I got it good girl cuz I got myself a good girl" and "whoa oh oh oh in her snapback" but these two songs are representative what I'd like to hear more of.
A listen of his 2013 record shows me a lot more organic production and instrumentation. I HATE how the current gatekeepers in charge of Nashville country had almost entirely removed fiddle, bluegrass influences, and the George Stait/Alan Jackson style that has dominated for 40 years now--up until folks like Jon Pardi and Cody Johnson came along.
I'll take these songs for the throwback lyrical composition; but with future releases I'd love to hear his sound from songs like "Grass Looks Greener" and "Ain't Too Good."

Sounds like a Thomas Rhett song, which is fine. I'm sure it will cross over to Hot AC as well as it seems like a better place than even Country radio.

I have a couple questions about one of the songwriters on this song. Didn’t Ash Bowers co-write Jimmie Allen’s “Best Shot”? Also didn’t he have a top 40 hit himself earlier this decade?

His debut single "Stuck" was released in 2009 and peaked at #42, and the follow-up "Ain't No Stopping Her Now" also reached #44. He actually didn't co-write "Best Shot" for Jimmie Allen, but he did co-produce his album and has writing credits on other songs from the record. Also, he does have a Wikipedia page where all this info is available btw.
