Waiting to buy a physical CD before I listen but in the past year I've come to love this guy. So solid and reliable.
He was being interviewed on The Highway (of all places) and he said he basically recorded the whole thing before the Warner deal and he didn't set out to do anything specific. Just say true and authentic to himself. He said his sound doesn't work for radio and doesn't work for major labels. Hope something like this makes that change!

Great album here from Cody. Vibes from 90's and early 2000's country radio. Warner looks like they're invested into getting him mainstream radio airplay.
Track rankings (minus the live songs):
1. "Ain't Nothin' To It" 2. "Fenceposts" 3. "On My Way To You" 4. "Dear Rodeo" 5. "Monday Morning Merle" 6. "Doubt Me Now" 7. "Where Cowboys Are King" 8. "Honky Tonk Mood 9. "Understand Why" 10. "Noise" 11. "Y'all People" 12. "Nothin' On You" 13. "Long Haired Country Boy"
I really like the live (acoustic) songs as well. Interesting Cody has a couple remakes on this project. I'm not overly crazy of "Nothin' On You" or his rendition of "Long Haired Country Boy" but the rest I love or really enjoy.
"Ain't Nothin' To It" is a terrific -- simple but effective subject. "Fenceposts" is one that gets better with every listen. The opening fiddle is heavenly and it's pound for pound one of the best written songs on the record.
I hope they just go all in and try "Ain't Nothin' To It", "Fenceposts" or "Dear Rodeo" as a single. Cody's gone on record saying he isn't changing his sound and Warner seems to be okay with that (or else the partnership wouldn't have happened). I'm thrilled "On My Way To You" has done well but I'm a bit worried they go with one of the safer and blander songs on the record as the next single, like "Noise." I think they would seriously consider "Understand Why" as a single as well.

Wow what a solid album! Love to see this from a guy whose mainstream career just started. I'll give my rankings after a few more listens. Mainstream country is off to a great start in 2019 between this and "Magnolia". Can't wait for FGL to screw that up.

HDD predicted 24-27k pure sales and 33-37k SPS first week. Also updated first post with songwriting credits. Some interesting names there.

It's a really sonically cohesive album. Writing wise, it definitely feels like it's a lot of different perspectives throughout, but Cody clearly knows how to choose good songs. I feel like 'Nothin On You' is the smash here.

I don’t know, for some reason I can’t get into his voice. Talent is great however.
The title track is definitely the best song on the record.

HDD lowered the predictions. Pure sales prediction is now 22-25k, SPS is now 31-35k. #11 all-genre.

Really love this. It comes in second to his "Cowboy Like Me" album, which has some downright awesome songs.
My rankings:
Outstanding 1. "Ain't Nothin' To It" 2. "Fenceposts" 3. "Understand Why" 4. "Monday Morning Merle" 5. "Where Cowboys are King"
Great 6. "On My Way To You" 7. "Doubt Me Now" 8. "Dear Rodeo" 9. "Long Haired Country Boy" 10. "Honky Tonk Mood"
Not Bad 11. "Y'all People" 12. "Noise"
Dislike 13. "Nothin' On You" (so sick of the waltz soul songs lol)

I’m still not a big fan of his phrasing, but I can’t stop playing the title track. What a classic.
