Keanu Reeves Joins Uma Thurman, Pete Davidson, Clint Eastwood & More on the Hot 100 … as Charted Song Titles
2/1/2019 by Gary Trust
Logic's new song named "Keanu Reeves" debuts at No. 38.
It's not a duet, but Logic and Keanu Reeves debut together on the latest Billboard Hot 100 chart (dated Feb. 2).
The rapper's new single, "Keanu Reeves," enters at No. 38, its title name-checking the actor whose career has ranged from the campy Bill and Ted film franchise to The Matrix and its sequels and more.
The track plays off The Matrix, as Reeves' character in the 1999 sci-fi action movie is dubbed "The One." Raps Logic in the song, "I am the one, like Keanu Reeves."
Upon its debut, "Keanu Reeves" joins an array of prominent names that have doubled as Hot 100 hits, songs that enjoy an easy in with listeners since they arrive with a dose of instant familiarity.
Here's a look at a dozen such songs, beyond Logic's new ode to Reeves, from the last 20 years-plus (to around when The Matrix was originally in theaters). Included are hits that serve as tributes to actors and actresses, other musicians, the founder of Microsoft and a comedian from Saturday Night Live (plus someone whose son is clearly not a fan of the show).
"Keanu Reeves" Logic, No. 38 (debut), Feb. 2, 2019
"Mo Bamba" Sheck Wes, No. 6, Dec. 8, 2018
"Drew Barrymore" Bryce Vine, No. 46, Sept. 8, 2018
"Pete Davidson" Ariana Grande, No. 99, Sept, 1, 2018
"Marvin Gaye" Charlie Puth feat, Meghan Trainor, No. 21, Oct. 10, 2015
"Uma Thurman" Fall Out Boy, No. 22, Sept. 12, 2015
"Donald Trump" Mac Miller, No. 75, Jan. 7, 2012
"Barbra Streisand" Duck Sauce, No. 89, May 14, 2011
"Bill Gates" Lil Wayne, No. 75, Oct. 16, 2010
"Grace Kelly" Mika, No. 57, April 14, 2007
"Tim McGraw" Taylor Swift, No. 40, Jan. 13, 2007
"Clint Eastwood" Gorillaz, No. 57, Sept. 22, 2001
"Brian Wilson" Barenaked Ladies, No. 68, Feb. 7, 1998

Uma Thurman!!!! What a great song. I enjoy that song and I'm aware that it was named after an actress. What surprised me is Uma Thurman is technically a Halloween song by sampling a Halloween song.

Uma Thurman is one of my faves from FOB. Should've done much better.
SZA's "Drew Barrymore" missed the Hot 100. It was the last song she released before she blew up with "Love Galore" and "The Weekend". It would have probably charted if released after those two (let alone following "What Lovers Do" / "All the Stars").

Sheryl Crow had a song called "Steve McQueen" but it probably didn't hit the Hot 100.

"Harry Truman" by Chcago "King Tut" by Steve Martin Would you count "Abraham, Martin & John" by Dion? There are separate songs about Bruce Springsteen called "Bruce" by Rick Springfield and "Springsteen" by, I think Eric Church.

There's also "John Cougar, John Deere, John 3:16" by Keith Urban and although it never charted, "Alex Chilton" by the Replacements as an honorable mention

the last half of Paul McCartney's "Uncle Albert / Admiral Halsey" was the name of an actual WWII US Navy Admiral.

Sheryl Crow had a song called "Steve McQueen" but it probably didn't hit the Hot 100. Number 88 in 2002. Also the Eagles hit #77 in 1974 with "James Dean"

In 1964 "We Love You Beatles" by the Carefrees hit #39.
Also, it may not count, but Neil Sedaka's "Oh! Carol", which hit #9 in 1959, was about a high school classmate he had dated named Carol Klein, who in just a few years would be better known under her professional name - Carole King.
