90. Key Largo (77): This was a first listen (either that or I just simply totally forgot about it). The music is okay, but it's just overall not that exciting or different. 89. The Sweetest Thing (78): I like several of her songs quite a lot, but this one is not one of them. Just like Key Largo, ok but forgettable melody. 88. Even the nights are better (55): No surprise of course, but the melody and vocals of this song are quite strong. One of my favorites from Air Supply. 87. Love in the first degree (84): Good to see it escape the bottom 10 at least. 86. Oh No (95): I guess this is better liked in the context of the movie. I don't remember it from the 80s, and I like most of Lionel's 80s ballads more than this one, even Penny Lover which seems clearly influenced by this song. 85. Any day now (96): Another first listen that didn't impress me at all. Quite simple and boring to me. 84. Ebony and ivory (33): WTF?!!! This is quite a ridiculously low showing for this song. Pretty good music, melody, including the ad-libs and mood switch of the final minute, plus good lyrics and harmonizing vocals. How is this lower than That Girl or even Take It Away? SMH 83. One hundred ways (94): Another forgettable first listen. 82. Going down (86): Another first listen but not forgettable. A smooth AC tune that I wish it had a bit of an extra oomph in the chorus or bridge.... 81. You could have been with me (71): Great vocals as always with Sheena. I don't remember this being popular in 1983, but I discovered it in the 90s. Not my favorite ballad or song from her, but she did a great job vocally, and the melody in the chorus is good enough to escape my bottom quarter.

#80. Love Will Turn You Around - Kenny RogersI figured Kenny would be dropping out around here. #79. Arthur's Theme (Best That You Can Do) - Christopher CrossThe classic Christopher Cross songs were back in 1980-81. I did like "All Right" too. #78. Leader Of The Band - Dan FogelbergFinally. I liked "Language Of Love" , but folk is something I have never liked. Not then, not now ,not ever. #77. Man On Your Mind - Little River BandOne of their better songs, but that isn't saying much. #76. Wasted On The Way - Crosby, Stills and NashSilly ass song. "Proud Mary" this isn't. I also think this song kept "Caught Up In You" from rising any higher? idk, but I really hated this song for some reason? #75. Personally - Karla BonoffRight about where it should appear. #74. Take It Easy On Me - Little River BandI believe my favorite song from this particular band. #73. It's Gonna Take A Miracle - Deniece WilliamsIt was gonna take a miracle for me to rank this any higher than I did. #72. Should I Do It - Pointer Sisters I liked the throw back sound of this song, but as a youngster I thought it said "Should I Do It? Should I "F U C K", and it seemed like a turn off back then. "He's So Shy" was a much more deserving song to get a spot on a YE top 100. #71. Why Do Fools Fall In Love - Diana RossNow this was a "bop". So much fun to listen to. Too bad it couldn't go any higher.

No real complaints thus far. I'm glad that my top half is still intact. My luck will likely run out soon enough though.
Down to just one song left in my bottom 20. I'm not too surprised that it is still here but it's not exactly a song I'd expect to make the top half either.

80. Love Will Turn You Around (63): The melody of this song resembled KR's Reuben James too, which I really like. In any case, this was a strong showing from Kenny. Happy to see him skip the bottom 20 at least.
79. Arthur's Theme (67): I ranked this at #34 in the 1981 RD. I considered it a 1981 song, so I restricted this one to my bottom half of 1982.
78. Leader of the Band (47): This was one of my preferred first listens. The lyrics really touched me and made me teary eyed several times. I wish it had performed a bit better in this RD, even though I admit that the melody is a bit weak.
77. Man On Your Mind (83): Nice little rock-pop song with good harmonies in the chorus, but weak verses
76. Wasted On The Way (57): This was a first listen that I enjoyed more with every listen. That's the type of classic, 70s-sounding song that brings positivity and happiness when you hear it. Great melody here.
75. Personally (82): The sax solo made me rank this higher than I was initially going to... it's another song with a cool sexy vibe that could've been better with stronger overall melody.
74. Take It Easy On Me (72): Just like MOYM, a nice little pop song that could've been better with stronger verses.
73. It's Gonna Take A Miracle (70): Nice little classic R&B type of song, with good vocals. This is where I entered into a new tier of songs in this RD. I could've ranked it a bit higher, though...
72. Should I Do Itf (92): Cute song but just a bit too simple to me. I didn't like it as much as let's say He's So Shy..
71. Why Do Fools Fall In Love (66): This has a nostalgia factor for me, as I liked this song and video back in 1982, and I have good memories attached to it. A fun cover even if it doesn't add much to the original.

At this time in 1982, "Pac-Man Fever" was a Top 10 hit.

McCartney's out too early, and you can't convince me otherwise.
At least Speedwagon is out.

70. Take My Heart (93): I like many of K&TG songs, but this has never been my cup of tea tbh. It was a clear bottom 10 in this RD. 69. Cool Night (87): Not as cool as it could've been either. It has that smooth vibe that a few others also have in this RD, but this may be the simplest of 'em all. 68. Waiting On a Friend (76): I really like its main melody, including the whistle part, but the verses are a bit of a letdown. 67. Always On My Mind (74): A classic indeed, although in terms of ballads, I like Elvis' version better -and I like Pet Shop Boys' version even more 66. Blue Eyes (61): A friend of my parents who used to work in one of our local radio stations gifted us the Jump Up! LP, so I have very good memories attached to the songs from this album. I've always liked the melody, music and vocals of this song. 65. (Oh) Pretty Woman (85): I don't remember hearing this song back in the 80s. It just pales in comparison to Roy Orbison's classic, that has much more of a rocker attitude than VH's in my opinion. 64. Keep The Fire Burnin' (26): Oh, no! This is my biggest loss so far. This is my favorite uptempo REO song. I love the melody, instrumentation, the different parts of the song, including the sort of stronger vocal bridge followed by the keyboard bridge. I also love its high-energy pop-rock vibe. Lots of very good childhood memories with this one 63. Take it Away (68): Nice, cute little pop bop from Paul, that relies primarily on the catchiness of the chorus. 62. '65 Love Affair (91): Surprised that this one is this high. I wasn't sure which Paul Davis song rank higher... I found them quite similar and neither was super exciting or convincing to me. With this finally gone, I've cleared my bottom 15. Yay! 61. Mirror, Mirror (44): This was a strong pop song from 1982. That year I liked Why... a bit more, but with time I've grown to like M, M more. I like the dynamism of the song, how it goes from a darker, mysterious vibe to a sexy vibe to a more joyous and exuberant vibe. Interestingly, a couple of weeks ago Sirius 80s on 8 was playing the top 40 of the Hot 100 from that week in 1982, and when M, M played the DJ shared that it was a song demoed and co-written by Michael Sembello. I didn't know that! I like Diana's version more anyway. Should've been a bit higher in this RD.

This song brings back fond memories. WSB-FM (B98.5) in Atlanta used to have Totally '80s Weekends in the late 1990s and early 2000s, and I remembered hearing this song a lot during the summer of 2002, which was a very fun summer for me. Damn! I didn't expect this to be out so soon! I kind of expected it out somewhere in the middle, honestly. I'm glad I'm not the only fan, though. I've tried to appreciate Diana Ross's solo work more, but I just like her much better with The Supremes. Honestly, the only solo song of hers that I really like is "Upside Down," which would have been in my Top 10 had I been able to participate in the 1980 rankdown.

#70. Take My Heart (You Can Have It If You Want It) - Kool & The Gang One of the Gang's weaker songs, but I still like it.
#69. Cool Night - Paul Davis From Kool to Cool. I was pleasantly surprised you all didn't tank this song. I always thought Paul Davis had charismatic vocals.
#68. Waiting On A Friend - The Rolling Stones The music video with them hanging around and strolling around town is a perfect image for the song. Good song. You just know Keith has been smoking more than camels. Rock bands are so cool. Mick doing the Jim Morrison "lizard King" dance in the bar is priceless.
#67. Always On My Mind - Willie Nelson I don't know when he was younger but this boy cannot sing.
#66. Blue Eyes - Elton John The right one out first. Pretty boring for Elton John. Expect more from the man.
#65. (Oh) Pretty Woman - Van Halen Great song. I love it, but Van Halen originals are way better. The best thing about this song were the guitar licks from Eddie.
#64. Keep The Fire Burnin' - REO Speedwagon Decent placement. Not one of y favorite REO jobs.
#63. Take It Away - Paul McCartney Also a good placement for a song. Fun song. 'nuff said.
#62. '65 Love Affair - Paul Davis One of my favorite song of 1982. I finally got my chance to turn up the volume on this while at the beach in 1994. Who else is still Doowap Deedee ing in 2019?
#61. Mirror, Mirror - Diana Ross This was majorly stale for Diana Ross.

My local radio station also had a 80s weekends in the 2000s, and I would hear this song on it alot too.
