Chicago And Alabama will probably be bottom 5. I’d like for Air Supply to be as well.
I’d love to see I Ran So Far Away in the top 5 but I’m not so sure.

Top 5 guesses: Edge of 17, I love rock’n roll, Tainted love, Hurts so good (he did quite well in ‘81), and either Eye of the tiger or Don’t stop believing (despite suffering from overplay)
Bottom 5: Neil diamond, Alabama, Through the years, Here I am, Ronnie mislap?
Most top 40s: Hall and Oates, Stevie Nicks (including Fleetwood Mac)
I’d just say that Chicago in bottom 10 or even bottom quarter would be a TRAVESTY!!!

Won't make a lot of predictions, but I will say that "Edge of Seventeen" is probably the favorite to win this.
This might be the year a Hall & Oates song has a serious chance to win, too. Maybe that's wishful thinking, but I think this rankdown is wide open.
Oh, and "Pac-Man Fever" will be bottom five. I'd be shocked if it isn't.

I was just a kid, but that was one of my favs. Its still as much fun today as it was back then. "Edge Of Seventeen"? I'd say top 30 at the most. How can that even compare to "Centerfold", Abra Cadabra""I Love Rock N' Roll" , "Don't You Want Me Baby" ,"Who Can It Be Now", Shake It Up"and "I Can't Go For That (no Can Do)"

C'mon this is not that bad, not deserving #100. Only me and 🇯🇲 dollybaby 🇯🇲 know it.

Charlene should've been #100. May not have been my #100 but this utter dreck is not better than Air Supply. :sip2:

When I saw Charlene song in the list I thought, there's my #100. I was wrong, I found 3 songs even worst than that. Anyways, for me the definite version of that song is this:

All you Roberta haters, your taste is in your mouth. Beautiful voice, pretty decent song.

I didn't even realize that Let's Groove was on this list too. Hopefully that can make the top 5 too.

I kind of amazed myself by putting the lowest Air Supply song at #96. Four songs were worse. The restraint, though... Oh god, I'm so glad Charlene was bottom five. That song sucked. And maybe I was wrong about "Pac-Man Fever" being bottom five, but I'm glad it's low, anyway. It's possible to make good songs about video games...but that isn't the way. Now, let's talk about the elephant in the room: My "Sweet Dreams" ranking. It's a minor miracle: An Air Supply song that is...actually not bad. That was the most shocking thing in this top 100, and it should have been the highest Air Supply song by a safe distance. There's one song that's missing in that bottom ten. If you've participated in 1/3 or more of these rankdowns, you know exactly what song I'm referring to.

I’m glad that “I’ve Never Been to Me” left quickly because I couldn’t stand that song. I gave it a few tries but ended up liking it less and less after each listen.
Being the country fan that I am I’ve always liked Michael Murphey’s “What’s Forever For” but I knew it wouldn’t fare well here...I still enjoyed getting to revisit that song for this rankdown. The same can’t quite be said for “Through the Years” by Kenny Rogers and while I do somewhat enjoy the song it isn’t one that I would seek out from his discography or want to hear often.
I love Roberta Flack’s voice and that really is the main reason why I ended up ranking “Making Love” a bit higher on my list because overall the song does fall a bit flat otherwise.

To be honest, all those songs were big hits back home in ‘82 and I really liked them back then and throughout the 1900s —whereas Edge was practically a flop that I don’t think I even heard in the 80s. I remember hearing it well when I bought Timespace in 2000, interestingly around the time Bootylicious appeared. I loved it. And nowadays I appreciate Edge more than some of my older ‘82 favorites...

Eo17 is a classic, but it's a shame this 1982 gem didn't make the YE Top 100.

#95. Pac-Man Fever - Buckner & GarciaDid not expect this, but then I remebered most of you were probably not even born yet. LOL! This is a perfect example of a song that screams you had to be there to love it. You actually had to be 12 years old and love Pac-Man to love it. I was old enough to go to the arcade by myself and you wouldn't be there 15 minutes without this song coming on. Do you peeps even know what Pac-Man is?

100. Here I Am (90): this may be my least favorite Air Supply single, and even then it escaped my bottom 10. Even though I did like this back in the day, my cheese tolerance has slightly decrease with time, and now this felt like eating a large Raclette dish 99. I’ve never been to me (79): I heard this one for the first time back in early 00s. I liked her voice to be honest. For this RD I gave extra points for this lyrics about seeing things a woman isn’t supposed to see, making love in the sun and subtly whoring 98. What’s forever for (99): I mean, if people don’t like Air Supply for being cheesy, how about this one? I got bored and indigested, with very average vocals... 97. Hooked on classics (75): I’ve always appreciated a few of these classic medleys with the pop/dance clapping beat. 96. Yesterday song (100): clear bottom 5 for me, as I didn’t like the melody at all. 95. Pac-Man fever (98): another clear bottom 5. I don’t remember hearing this in ‘82. I can see the guilty pleasure and nostalgia quality of it, but I just find this too basic of a song. 94. Through the years (89): not as strong as several other KR songs, but there are some nice bites of melody here and there. 93. Coming in and out of my life (88): always assured that she will provide great vocals. However the melody here wasn’t as strong as I recalled. Sorry Barbs. 92. Making love (97): I really really tried to rank this higher... I like her vocals, and I praise the fact that this was the theme song of one of the most audacious movies at that time about a closeted married guy that eventually comes out (kiss included). However I just couldn’t overcome its simplicity and the boringness of the melody. Quite a disappointment. 91. Sweet dreams (64): I don’t recall this being as popular as other AS songs back home, but this was a welcome departure of their typical sound. Much more like a Styx song with soaring vocals and more of an epic soft rock production. Definitely didn’t deserve bottom 10. It’s as if people see AS and automatically put them in the bottom

Now for the rest of the bottom 10. #100. Here I Am (Just When I Thought I Was Over You) - Air SupplyWeird song to put at #100. It isn't one of my favs, but you all really do hate Air Supply don't you? #99. I've Never Been To Me - CharleneAnother strange song to tank. The melody is pleasant and her vocals are better than most. This begs the question? If Olivia Newton-John had sang this would it also be tanked? #98. What's Forever For - Michael MurpheyThis one was pretty boring from the start. I didn't remember this one at all. #97. Hooked On Classics - Royal Philharmonic OrchestraThis struggled to make it out of my bottom 10. It did feature classics, but it sounded like a left over from Disco fever 1977. #96 . Yesterday's Songs - Neil DiamondNeil Diamond would probably have retired early if it was up to us to make his songs hits or flops. :kii: #95. Pac-Man Fever - Buckner & GarciaThis generation has their noses burried in the cel phone. We had out fingers on the joysticks. No dirty pun intended. maybe? #94. Through The Years - Kenny RogersO.k. I can see this getting tanked, but I hope "Love Will Turn You Around" doesn't suffer the same fate. That one is actually catchy. #93. Comin' In and Out of Your Life - Barbra StreisandThey didn't play this Pop ballad wonder at the arcade. Nuff said. #92. Making Love - Roberta FlackNor this one. At least I'm being consistent. I tank those similar Whitney Houston ballads too. BTW Harry Hamlin played Perseus in the original Clash Of The Titans. #91. Sweet Dreams - Air SupplyUrgh you peeps really hate Air Supply. 8D This is by far their best song. Forget for a moment that this band played concerts at Disneyland and really listen to the song. This isn't sappy at all. I dare say the song's composition could have been a Styx or even Foreigner power ballad.
